Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread

I did wonder. I was thinking of adding star destroyers arriving at each planet destination before the battle starts to add to the reason why the galaxy got involved but I couldn’t think of a reason why they would do that unless they were xyston class destroyers.

In my headcanon I just assumed the First Order had occupied and laid siege to all those worlds in the aftermath of TLJ, paying off what Rey stated in that movie: “The First Order will control all the major systems within weeks”. Perhaps this detail could be included in a redone opening crawl.

I don’t know if this would fit better in the the Radical redux thread, but I like it a lot! It might be the most plausible way to both address the intel and remove the cringy “Somehow Palpatine returned”.
Maybe there should be a short reaction shot added before Rose speaks, because her facial reactions don’t quite match, and the characters would need a couple more seconds to process it. Maybe insert Chewie’s reaction in there?
Though I agree with Hal, I’d like to see how the rest of the scene plays out.

How do we all feel about the newer Ochi ship shot from poppasketti? I think it’s very much improved, but it may be too iffy to be included. He’s said so himself. Eh?

I like it much more now, the added motion and music adjustment make it seem more credible as part of a genuine movie.

Since the first big version of Ascendant is sticking with Rey Palpatine, I wish there was a moment in the film where we had a version of the Emperor’s theme, but with a female choir. Like maybe you could hear it as Rey is entering the Exegol temple. But I don’t even think a female version of the Emperor’s theme exists anywhere. Or even a dark side version of Rey’s theme.

The melody in Rey’s theme has many similarities to Palpatine’s theme; I hoped that resemblance would be addressed in the actual TROS soundtrack with a hybrid theme or something like that.

Axlanian, the complete score of Phantom Menace features many instances of Palpatine’s theme. I really like this version , it has a different tone from the others, so maybe it can be superimposed with a female choir or some notes from Rey’s melody.

As a plus, though not really the Emperor’s theme, there’s also this haunting piece from AOTC.

Yeah that would be perfecting an already awesome ending sequence. If only someone could put R2 in there…

My dream ending sequence would be: Rey walking past BB8 --> hypothetical Falcon take-off --> cockpit group shot --> Binary sunset with Falcon flying away plus the ghosts of all the Skywalkers (Ben included) in the foreground.

The "Vader Edition" Star Wars Saga - Episodes 1-6 Edits (WIP)

I’m having the same dilemma with my episode VI personal edit (which is basically IlFanEditore’s, with some brief SE restorations and some music changes).
Removing the scene helps the pacing, since the film kind of drags at the middle act, and also cutting it would make the Ewoks seem more threatening when Han and Luke first meet them moments after.
On the other side, keeping it explains how Leia made it to the village and why the Ewoks didn´t harm her yet want to sacrifice the others.

I read that someone suggested that it would be nice to have a red-ish Exegol.
Just a very quick test.

I don’t like the over the top blue planet look, but I agree with others who say that there’s already Korriban as a red Sith planet.
If someone doesn’t like that blue tone, I think the only solution is to change Exegol into a dark, black/grey planet.

Magnificent work there! Regarding the color correction, I believe red/orange is fine. In terms of the movies, there hasn’t been an orange colour pallette for a planet since Geonosis, so it’s a welcome change and at least more original and sinister-looking than blue.

I have decided to implement a new idea into my Return of the Jedi fan-edit. Basically there’s going to be a new opening crawl that states that after his defeat to Darth Vader in ESB, Luke returns to Dagobah to train with Yoda, and his allies have formulated a plan to free Han Solo from Jabba (including the droids). My idea is that the film will be edited to make it appear as if Luke had been training with Yoda in the time period between ESB and this film, which explains how Luke became a better, more powerful Jedi in-between. It also helps the plan to free Han Solo make more sense, as now the efforts by the others can be seen as them attempting to free Han without Luke during his absence on Dagobah. However, since their plan doesn’t work, Luke has to go to Tatooine to save their asses. The scenes on Dagobah will be moved to the beginning and intercut with the Jabba’s palace scenes.

Btw, my The Phantom Menace edit has been exported is now available. It’s more of a combination of others edits so I know mine isn’t exactly revolutionary or anything, but if you find my version appeals to you based on the list of edits on the document linked in the first post then I’d be happy to share it with anyone. Don’t hesitate to DM if interested 😃

I think the only con to moving the Dagobah scenes to the opening act would be that the film would lose some of that ambiguity regarding Luke’s allegance at the beginning. The moment Luke arrives to Jabba’s palace kind of plays with the possibility of him having turned to the dark (being arrogant, Force-choking the guards, wearing black and a sinister-looking cloak, etc.).

But otherwise, the arrangement would explain why the Rebels went with such a hasty plan, it would make Luke’s power upgrade more believable and his intervention more badass in hindsight. Anyway, regardless of how you restructure your edt, the important thing is that the film should adequatly convey Luke’s conflict with the dark side.

And I would be totally interested to have your Phantom Menace version!

I think the maybe the overhead lava shot and the forest and eruption shot should go. The first one because it breaks the visual continuity between the establishing shots (TIEs over forest, then just lava, then forest again) and doesn’t add very much to the sequence itself.

And the second one doesn’t blend very well with the original film and Battlefront footage. The reason why the moment with the troopers looks a bit “fake” in hindsight is because the next lava shot is clearly a real location (unless some color-correction/filter is applied to it). If the Battlefront stuff led up right to Kylo Ren it would work better, because Kylo’s establishing character moment is shot in a very stylistic way, making the transition less jarring.

The Battlefront shots look pretty good and realistic on their own, though, so I think they should be kept.

Regarding to the music, I’d replace it with the unused portion of “Journey to Exegol” (that one with all the drums and stuff).

Help: Need ideas for Clone Wars Mandalorian Arc (3rd project)
Time

The Mandalore and Maul storylines don’t really interact with each other until the 14th episode in your list, so I agree the better way to pull this off would be introducing Maul and Savage when the Death Watch rescues them in “Eminence”. That scene opens from the point of view of the Mandalorians, and Maul later summarizes his background to Vizsla anyway, so including the Nightsister and Revenge story arcs is not really necessary. Keep the focus on the Mandalorians.

The Klaud removal is seamless, great job.

The Ochi ship fleeing Pasaana is pretty good. The hyperspace didn’t feel right mostly because the ship’s movement was a bit slow and that made jumping to lightspeed from the atmosphere even less believable (compared to, for example, the Falcon ending shot) Now that the jump was removed it looks better.
I agree the actual trajectory is too straight, but it’s still a worthy effort since there’s not that much footage avalaible to do it.

Hey! I remember someone in this forum once did a mock-up of a green Exegol, but I can’t remember who was.
I was thinking about that idea of suggesting Palpatine kept himself alive through arcane methods, maybe involving secrets learned from the Nightsisters. That could be accomplished by surrounding the ailing Palpatine and his machinery with a faint green mist, plus Nightsister magic sound effects pulled from the Clone Wars show.

Also, maybe that green color and magic SFX could be applied to the Force-draining when Palpatine restores himself. I was watching the original movie with my family and it was kind of funny for us how the draining effect looked like a Dementor’s kiss 😄

Is Kijimi not exploding in this edit? I missed that change.

Most edits I’ve come across (mainly Hal’s) don’t specify that each Sith Star Destroyer is fitted a planet-killing weapon, so that way Kijimi is spared.

That makes sense too, I like the list too. Is that a sequence that you’re intending to remake?

Well I don’t have any VFX experience so my contribution’s mostly relegated to cooking up ideas or sometimes playing around with music and scene rearrangements 😄. So far my prefered version of the sequence is the one in Hal’s edit: Bespin-Coruscant-a sequel trilogy world.

A thought I had earlier is that the planet-killing Star Destroyers might be more believable if multiple ships were required to blow up a single planet. It could be interesting to have a VFX-edited shot where three or four Destroyers shoot the planet simultaneously.
