Anyway, I think SP2 is fine otherwise, the firewall can be disabled and you do not have to have automatic updates on either if you do not want to. I myself prefer a third-party firewall to the Windows firewall thingy.

If you want to get rid of the "hey, your updates are not on" etc balloons in the system tray, you can disable the "security center" service in control panel -> admin tools -> services. That won't disable firewall or the updates, only the balloons... well, enough rambling there's plenty of fixes/hacks for SP2 on the net.

Good luck Rikter

Speaking of firewalls, what's a good, free third-party firewall? I ask because I'm currently using a now unregestered Norton Security '03(came pre-installed) and I'm sending my machine back to the company for repairs, so I may lose it.(it's a great ad-blocker, which is why I kept it.) Also, how does one disable the "you are running out of disc space" balloon? I download often, so I keep seeing that. It bugs the hell out of me.

Ewoks/Droids DVDs re-edited.
Time
According to the timeline section of TheForce.net, the two animated series will feature new music and different plot elements. Here's the quote.

"In addition there are two installments of Animated Adventures, Ewoks and Droids. I'm really upset with these two releases. Rather than giving us the original half-hour episodes that aired on ABC back in 1985-86 we are getting reedited versions that have different music and altered story lines. To a certain degree I understand the need to redo the classic films to match the new ones, although I want the original versions on DVD as well, but for CRYING OUT LOUD IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO MESS WITH THE FRICKIN' CARTOONS! "

I most definately agree with his lines in bold/

You're right man, we shouldn't infight. Also, about your cover torrent. Their are quite a few redundant files in there. Some covers are repeated two or three times in different folders. Thanks again though, need to clear some HDD space now.

I actually have the two soundtracks in this torrent on cassette. Have you heard their release of the ESB soundtrack? I read a review of it so I sought it out. Great stuff.

What did we all expect from the Prequel Trilogy?
Time
I too felt more could've been done with Maul. I thought it over and realized how it could've worked. Basically, after killing Qui-Gon, Maul withdraws. Then, in II and III, he becomes a focus for Obi-wan and Anakin. Obi-wan skimps on his attention to Anakin while hunting down leads to Maul. Anakin also might seek Maul as he had befriended Qui-Gon. The Jedi are all convinced Maul is the master, drawing their attention away from Palpatine, just as he hoped. At least something to that effect. Personally, I liked the Yoda instructing scene as it shows how all Jedi were, in a way, instrucyed by him. Otherwise, we'd have a plothole in Ben's line, "There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me".

What did we all expect from the Prequel Trilogy?
Time
Personally, I read the novel of TPM before the movie came out. I had a great time waiting for tickets and to see the film. I saw it three times in the theater, bought the widescreen tape, than bought is again when I found a cheap used copy. I even bought the DVD. I saw AOTC in the theaters, but I wasn't as big on Star Wars at the time. I enjoyed both films.

How'd I do this, you ask. Simple. I didn't go in expecting the OT. I know that the reason I love the OT so much is because I grew up with them. Same goes for the original Star Trek. I knew that no matter how good the PT is, it shall never measure up to the OT. End of story. So I went in expecting enjoyable films that didn't contradict the EU, which I got. Sure they could be better. Yes, Lucas should have wrote them in his prime. Sure there are things that bug me(such as killing off Qui-Gon and Darth Maul before really using them). Maybe they aren't the films people expected. Then again, I found that most people had too high of expectations to begin with.

I'm a solid Giants fan myself. I thought the manager made a stupid, pig-headed mistake when he ditched Dusty Baker. The guy molds a great club in ten years, takes them to the big game, the other team gets lucky, and he's fired?????? No offense to Felipe Allou, but Baker is easily the better man for the Giants. He still in Chicago? I don't really follow outside my hometeams.

Question About DVD Collections
Time
None that I know of. I buy a lot of anime so the situation is similar. In those cases, some companies sell them seperately online. You might want to try contacting Paramount. Thing is, the boxes are used as incentive to spend more at once(of on one release like most animes). Hence why I resist buying boxes unless the extras are great like a soundtrack.

Who Here has a Home Theather Setup.
Time
I have a pretty sweet setup for the most part. Everything has its cons. Below is the living room setup, which is what I mainly use when I'm not in my room using my mono 9" RCA.

32" Loewe Arcada 4:3 Digital TV
Pros- Great Picture, sound, anamorphic capability, 4:3 aspect ratio as the majority of what I watch is TV. I don't mind black bars. great remote. easy calibration requiring little out of the box ajustment, great remote.
cons- does not accept progressive feed in favor of its own built in one. slight lumenence flaring. Not sure if HD or SD.

JVC DVD player
pro- progressive scan, great vcd playback, simple to use, MP3,DVD-Audio capability, analogue DTS out allowing DTS without a reciever with 5.1 out(its greatest strength)
cons- Proscan dosn't work with TV, remote wont work through glass panels, VCD locks off after excesive forwarding, only plays 1st 100 mp3s per folder. No DVD-As that I would buy.

JVC 9800 SVCR
pros- fantastic picture quality. great recording quality. great remote. great faulty tape handling. all around one of the best VCRs around.
cons- cheapest loading machinism ever. after multiple fixes, the idiots still haven't found the problem. rewond mysteriously last night, damaging blank inside.(this all pertains to rewinding so I just rewind in one of the other 5 VCRs we have).

old 80's JVC stereo reciever. Used primerily for dad's Fisher LP player, I've since utilized it for the center channel of our sound system.
pros- allows my 3.0 setup to exist
cons- only allows for a 3.0 set up. second reciever required for background. no pro-logic.

I'm looking to upgrade to a surround setup when I can afford it. any suggestions?

The 1997 SE's - My take

Also, it makes the revealing of the Falcon moments later seem kind of pointless. I wouldn't care if Jabba looked crap or great in the scene, I don't care if Han steps on his tail or not, I dislike the scene because it is dead weight.

Riktar, I'd just like to bring something up. I was watching my download of ANH the otherday(awesome remix CD BTW). I haven't been able to burn it to disc yet, so I was watching it on my PC using Media Player Classic. At the end of the first VOB, right where Ben scares off the Sand People using a Kryte Dragon growl, the audio bursts into static. It only goes away if I skip a little forward. I tried it with some other players lying on my machine. Fortunately, BS Player, VCL Player, and WinDVD all played it without a hitch. I've never encountered something like that, so I thought I should mention it. Hope you recover soon.

God I miss VHS.

As do I, my friend, as do I.
