You're joking right? What fixed Kenobi lightsaber?

I've seen the pics, do you honestly believe one photoshopped lightsaber would make up for all the garbage that fills these DVDs? SE aside, the sound screw-ups like the loss of the rebel fanfare alone far out weigh a slightly fixed lightsaber. It would take far more than that to let Hayden's head, the Sarlaac's beak, the travesty of a Yavin battle, those ridiculous explosion rings, and those stupid ASP droids into my canon. The SE is something that you take or leave. One can't just pick and pull, you have the take the bad with the good. The trilogy SE is the single worse directors cut ever done to a film that I've seen. The bad far and away outweighs the good. Keep your soiled discs, I'm happy with my tapes and DVDRs.You should already know this. The special edition was the single worst thing to happen to the Star Wars universe. It devided fandom, messed with canon, and torments us to this day. It paved the way for so-so sequels valueing SFX over character and story. Those were what Star Wars was about. Now, all I hear are SE fans weining about how bad the fx are and how the film is supposedly improved by cloned X-wings zigzaging all over the place, and a chessy slug spouting Greedo's lines pretending to be Jabba.

BTW, this is the site I used to get alot of my old themes from.

Looks like an awesome site. Thanks. I haven't really modified the outright look of my computer(ie icons, pointers, etc) since getting my new machine a year ago. I use to use tons of themes to the point that every time it started up, there'd be a new sound, windows loading screen, so on. Been using 95/98 for so long, XP is set up as a carbon copy of the layout. You wouldn't happan to know a good program that automatically changes your wallpaper every now and then would you? I have tons of them, but I hardly change them. I'll post my desktop whenever I figure out how to save the clipboard image(I can view it, but not save it......)

I'm at number 1 myself. If number 3 were to occur, they'd be sitting on a Suncoast counter while I pick out an exchange. I rented the extra disc. I'm on a rental pass, so it's not like I actually paid anything for it in particular. Barely watched anything anyway. I've seen the DVDs playing in video stores. The more I see them, the less I'd want them. Even if I loved the SE, I wouldn't get them thanks to the fanfare before Yavin. It ruined the whole setting.

I haven't bought them

I'll most likely never buy them. If they were five bucks, I still probably wouldn't buy them to use as frisbees.

Nor will I accept them as gifts.

Because there's nothing about the SE that I like.

Am I the only one who prefers the old ewok music?
Time
"Ara strifea" or something like that. I know exactly what you're refering to. According to the captioning of the first VHS release, they're "singing in Ewokese". That's right, citizans of Coruscant are singing in Ewokese.

I love Ewok Celebration. Victory Celebration was ok, but just didn't fit as well(like Hayden's glare over Sebastian's warm smile). Interestingly, it was when my mom pointed out its absence as we pulled out of the parking lot that I begun to question the SE. Before, the euphoria of seeing the films on the big screen had me ignoring the changes. They just didn't exist(except in the first showing of Star Wars, where they were distracting to the point of confusion if I hadn't known the film as well as I did). It was the loss of "Yub Nub" that started the ball rolling. That made me notice the redundancy of the Jabba sequence, the ruined pace of the flight from Bespin, the comicalness of the once forbidding Mos Eisley. It turned my elation at seeing Coruscant for the first time, a planet I had read much about in the Eu, into a bittersweet memory when I realised how stupid a celebration on it would be. Even if you factor that these parties are most likely being thrown months later, it's still pretty dumb. Fortunately, after being horrifyed when the X Wing saga made it canon(I don't consider the SE canon, but I do consider the EU as so) after it had the strongest arguement against it. One character pre-SE noted how many planets rebelled after the emperor's death. Such things weren't a problem on Imperial Center. Fortunately, the post-SE novel makes the scene gruesome, a symbol of the Empire's evil. The scene works in the EU, not the SE.

I'm just glad I have the old RotJ OST. Though that version is much more Ewok heavy than the film. Even Victory Celebration is vastly different from its film version.

Vader was a different person and really did kill Anakin Skywalker. Sebastian Shaw was an impostor Anakin. Vader was lying the whole time, what a cock-bite.

Very true. Having Anakin be dead during the whole OT kind of removes the whole, "Son VS Father" drama. Let's hope George isn't really THAT stupid.

the Thrawn Trilogy, + hand of thrawn by Tim Zahn.

then

the Xwing series by Mike Stackpole. bloody good

splinter of the minds eye by alan dean foster (nostalgia value)

han solo at stars end + the other two by Brian daley (he also wrote the NPR radio dramas)

NICE TO SEE THAT SOMEBODY ELSE RECOMMENDS SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE.

Heck, nice to see someone recommend the X-wing series by Stackpole and someone else who's name escapes me. "Splinter" is good, as is Stackpole's I, Jedi.

That in itself would be false advertising. Sorry, couldn't help it. ^_^ As for an actually lawsuit, I doubt it would win. Claiming it's the Original Trilogy(as opposed to the Prequel or New Trilogy) is greatly different from claiming its the Original Version(as opposed to the New Version). If they had claimed that, then I'd say go for it. As such, Lucas could probably do the films over from scrath with apes and still be allowed to call it The Star Wars Trilogy by some sort of reasoning.

Episode III Teaser Trailer
Time
Where have I been? This has been out for days, and I'm just seeing it. I've lost my touch(like how I had to download the VH1 special[thanks to whom ripped that]). Looks good, so far. I'm trying not to be spoiled as well, but I know so much as it is. I'll probably read the novel like I did for I, anyway. I'm just glad it look like they finally have the right lightsabres. Shame I won't care about Anakin's fall, and instead will look forward to Ben giving him a beat down.

Mike, I checked your updates and they really are incredible. I find it so amazing that Lucasfilms' army of FX people could miss what one man did not. My only complaint is that some pics are too small to really appreciate your work. Even something as small as the "green saber" looks worlds better then the DVD. Nice work, I can't wait to see how you handle the non-SE footage.

Discussion: Your most prized star wars collectible
Time
Mine is more of a whole, with no real individual taking center stage. I have a huge recent action figure collection. There's my Luke Skywalker Lightsaber that's missing half the blade thanks to the numerous battles it was in for Episode I. I have a Star Wars - The Power of Myth book that I bought at the Air and Spave Museum that I had autographed by David Prowse. I also have my father's Star Wars LP and the Story of Star Wars LP and The 83 RotJ cassette.I have a lot, but mine collection's rather small in comparison. I also have a couple marvel comics of my dads, beat up as they are.

Forget the plot, we want action!
Time
I love the Luke/Vader fight from Jedi, with the space battle inbetween. I love the idea of Father vs Son, and the music when Luke attacks on Vader's suggestion that Leia be turned instead was easily some of the best. I love the lightsaber battles the most. But all the action was great, outside of the mass ground battle(Gungans vs Droids vs Clones), though the ground battle in II was better than in I.

In Memoriam: jimbo September 2003 - October 2004
Time
So it is that we shall lose jimbo and win Luke Skywalker. Sounds like a good trade. Having been here the short period that I have, I did not know jimbo before his temp ban. It is good to have differing opinions on a forum, but I got the idea that jimbo didn't view his as such. How often did he qoute his views as perpetual fact? How often did he not give one crumb of respect to someone who differs from him. Having a difference of opinion with jimbo, expecting to come away with something was like throwing water ballons at a brick wall, expecting the wall to give. Jimbo was good for angering up the blood, but I don't mourn the loss of someone whom gives no one else credit.

Jimbo, godspeed on your journey to find a new haven for your bigotry.Next time, find a board where more than one person agrees with you. You may want to view other opinions, but remember, they are just as valid as yours. Give your opinion while accepting others, and you'll get along fine. That is my advice to you if you are reading this.

As for this forum, a dark chapter has closed, and, given how he was here, I say, "Good riddence to bad rubbish". Don't assume he can't come back. I have three computers in my home. Each one has a unique IP address.
