Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

jar jar abrams is 100% guaranteed to turn VII into something that destroys sw canon more than the prequels ever had...

If in the first scene we discovered that the PT was basically a bad dream that Luke had, it would still be canon in that it would be depicted as being a dream that "actually" happened to Luke. I think JJ will do just fine. :D

Come to think of it, thank you for commenting, Leper Messiah TR, you've helped me work out how I will finally be able to work the other trilogy into my head canon; TCW really happened, and the PT was a bad dream Luke had about his dad sometime between ESB and ROTJ.

Unlike almost everyone else on these forums, I don't think there were too many Jedi in the prequels. IMHO, if the Jedi Order had been portrayed as a less hierarchal, more progressive religion in the PT rather than as dogmatic cult of genetic supermen, no one would be complaining about how many Jedi there were.

I agree/disagree. The Jedi could easily have been portrayed as a dogmatic cult of genetic supermen if only the writing, and direction had been at least ROTJ good.

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

Whatever became of that actual painting, anyway? Last time I heard, there was some talk of trying to restore it to the way it was before, though the outlook wasn't so good.

Surprise happy ending

What do you HATE about the EU?

1. I saw it in a tweet that was captured and posted either here or at TFN by someone from Lucasfilms (Dave Filoni?). I'm not going to be able to link because it was weeks ago and is lost to me.

2. The point is that I was answering the OP... "What do you hate about the EU?" answer being, that people continue to take it seriously after it has been rendered a pile of pro fan fic, referring back to the "nothing counts anymore" nature of the tweet to which I referred.

Again, no such announcement was ever made.

What was announced is that the tiered classification system for the EU has been eliminated. Now whether it be movie, game or book they're all equal in the Star Wars canon now. With this, some material will most likely be labeled completely non-canon but what that material is has not been announced.

You might be right. Perhaps the captured tweet I saw was fake? Perfectly possible.

I may be going a little meta here, but what I really hate about the EU is that since the announcement that only the PT, TCW, Rebels, the OT, and the ST count, there are people that continue to even have a conversation about the 300 books, 100 video games, and 5000 comics that are all now just a pile of professional fan fic.

When was that announced?

I'm also not clear on your point. If an executive at Disney says they don't count, people should suddenly pretend that novels they've loved for decades never existed?

The original Ben's house was just a building that they walked up to, went low angle to hide the fact that it was next to the coast, put the boom holding the speeder in the shot, put the matte painting between the camera and the boom to hide the boom, and turned the camera on. It was literally impossible for this shot to look like a cartoon, it was all practical with the exception of the matte painting.

^ The Ben's SE home scene just looks too busy.....is it on the edge of a canyon....if so did Luke drive it up that steep side?....or did he reverse it into that parking space....if so....why?.....is there a busy road near there?

The original just establishes that the speeder is parked at someones home,....no questions

J

I never thought about that. How _does_ the landspeeder end up in that spot? Did Luke have to push it sideways around the side of the house?
