STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time
I'm disagreeing with some people here, but I'd like to see Yoda (as well as the other aliens) given the Cantina treatment — I have faith in Adywan's ability to make it work.

I also agree. Ady made it so subtle in ANH Revisited, that it could work out great in ESB too.

0:36:23 - Stabilise R2's text on Luke's readout. (When flying from Hoth)

Yep, this one bothered me too and it is easily fixable.

If there's any way to edit out the borderline incestuous kiss between Luke and Leia, that might be wise.
Personally, it doesn't bother me. After all, if I had a sister as hot as Carrie Fisher... Well, it's just best to avoid such things as they are frowned upon by most societies.

You have to look at it from their perspective. A that time, nobody knew they were brother and sister, so what is the problem? I have no idea why is this such an issue.

Great teaser! The color correction is excellent, only Yoda looks a bit too green/blue. The walkers are as they should be, in great numbers showing the scale of the attack. The hologram is a nice blend o the two existing versions. The tauntaun movement looks smoother, but I didn't check. You are getting better by the edit Ady

One thing that i forgot to mention is that both DVD-5 & DVD-9 versions will feature a sneak peak trailer for....
"The Empire Strikes Back - Revisited" which will feature a couple of concepts that i have already begun work on, including a first look at the new Emperor hologram.

Ady, you should work for the film industry. You definitely know how to keep everyone on their toes I cannot wait to see your ideas for the ESB!

Yoda, Jabba and other creatures deserve the cantina treatment. (little added CG facial movements or alien antennas - whatever)

I agree, but only minimaly, so it doesn't stand out.

As fot the Hayden or Shaw issue, I still would rather keep Hayden, but a completely different facial expression. Maybe with slightly shorter hair. I don't know, but something different.

I vote for no eyebrows but reworked forehead, so it looks more natural.

I think that with Adywan as the director and WXM, Mojo_LA and AugieBenDoggie helping on the CGI and 3D stuff, future Revisited edits could be a real candy, and done much faster, especially now that we know that Mojo_LA has an incredibly fast render farm at his disposal.

I think the Ewoks screen time should be trimmed in the ROTJ. They slow down the action in a very tense situation, and in some cases look very JarJarish

If I were you, I wouldn't even read this thread anymore. Just start a new thread for Empire to get the creative juices flowing.

I couldn't agree more!!!

Sevb32, I'm sure Adywan knows about those 3 things you pointed out. He just decided to let them be as they are. It is his edit, decision. Case closed!

the way i'm feeing at the moment ESB is a dead project.

Nooooooo! Ady, it is YOUR edit, and it is great. Everybody's complaining, but we don't see them producing anything better. Everybody who is too much into not really relevant detail, you are not wathcing the movie, you are deconstructiong it, and not storry-wise. Ady did a damn good job, please stop beeing so anal!!!
Ady, don't give up on ESB and ROTJ, we are with you all the way!

Well learn yourself After Effects and use some of your freetime to make this already perfect fan-edit your ultimate version...... :-)

Exactly. Sevb32, I don't think Adywan will loose any sleep if you don't think his edit is perfect.

Ok, I know that you are all making honest criticism, but come on, a perfect movie that would suit everyone is not possible. We all have different taste, and although we are slightly grouped here because we all like Star Wars, it doesn't mean that we like the same flavor of it. This 'final tweaking' could go on forever. I am sure that Adywan will tweak whatever needs to be tweaked, after all, I completely trust that a fan such as Ady, who spent so much time on this edit, knows and loves SW as much as possible, will do it right.

I don't know, maybe a solution would be to get a DVD packed with alternate scenes and paste it together for each individual taste.

not sure about Obi-Wan igniting his saber before Vader ignites his, it just doesn't really seem to be very Jedi-like, it makes him look like he's on the attack rather than the defense, it also makes Vader's 'I've been waiting for you ' line seem out of place, as it almost looks like Obi-wan was waiting for Vader to arrive.

It doesn't make him look like on the offence, just prepared, because he know what Anakin has become. Vader walks to Obi-Wan and attacks! I don't think Obi-Wan was waiting for Vader, but I'm almost sure he knew that it might happen.

Norman, I like the texture of the hand and the overall look, but the lighting is wrong. The shadow from the arm is as if the light was coming from the bottom of the frame. The shadow of your flipper is completely in line with the arm, so it doesn't match. And the shadow from the gun is incorrect again, as if the light source was from the left. With proper lighting this flipper could work.

OK, come on, you know that he cannot replace all the Ewoks with Wookies, that is just unrealistic thinking. I know this would make a more serious film, and I would have liked it, but it is just not going to happen. After we are done praising Adywan effort (which he rightly deserves), I expect a lot more ideas in the ESB and ROTJ suggestions thread

Ady, how long do you estimate let's say ESB edit will take you? If this edit took you 18 months, I'd expect the next one to take less than a year. 6 months maybe? But first you have to make some mental notes on what to change and correct, and you make decisions even during editing, so time will be an open parameter.

Finished downloading, and scanned the movie through a bit. One word: WOW!!! The duel really is better paced, and the music mix throughout the film is great. The holograms are excellent, really as they should be, and bring the movie closer technology-wise to the PT, without being to in-your-face changes. The battle droid is there, but hardly noticeable, just the head. I had to pause just to be sure. I'll probably spot George when I see the whole movie. Regarding the flipper - I does look a bit 'flat', but on the other side, he is an alien, and to me that shoot Is all about the light-saber wound, not the flipper-hand. It is the show the strength of the light-saber, the cleanness of the cut. I don't really care for the flipper shape.

I know you are probably very tired after this edit, but I was wondering, do you plan to start the Empire edit relatively soon? Maybe in a couple of months. Will you start a new thread, the same as for this edit? We already made some suggestions in one thread about ESB and ROTJ. After gathering a lot of experience in the process of making ANH Revisited, you can probably concentrate more on the content side of the upcoming edits and less on the technical side. I hope your 'tech' 3D team will keep on supporting you in the new edits. And off course, as there is less to correct/add/change in the ESB and ROTJ, and you are now an experienced editor, the editing process will be much shorter I suppose.

ROTJ:
In the Luke-Vader duel on the DS, at the end when Luke begins to get aggressive and Vader falls and grabs the railing, and Luke starts hitting down on Vader's lighsaber, I think he should only hit down once or max. twice and then to the left and cut Vader's arm of. Normally he hits like 5 or 6 times, and although I do understand that it is the anger and aggression coming from him, it still looks a bit redundant, especially for a jedi. I tried it in VDub, and it looks good, without the music of course.
