Requiem for a Clone War dream... (2003 series) (* unfinished project * - lots of info)
Time
I had thought about checking out other works buy the same artists. I'll check out this Bruce Timm guy when I get home form work. [I have to go back in ]

If you [or anyone here] wanna point me in some cool directions I'll be happy to take a look. Basically at the moment I'm up for anything My goals are simple.

Give it a feature film kind of feel, and flow, Use more star wars film elements like opening crawls and more theatrical visual effects [Ie: less cartoony].
Have fun with it.
Maybe learn something along the way
steal Sluggo's secret powers....

An idea I'm currently toying with is having title cards appear after we jump ahead in time specifically the battle in chapter 21. Something along the lines of

- Day 263 -
Battle of Someplace

- Obviously with real and hopeful somewhat accurate details of course. Might give things a militaresque [sp? - even a word?] feel. I'll only do it if it works neatly and doesn't take the viewer out of the moment.

I prefer that over an "X amount of time" title card if I go that route.

What do you guys think?

EDIT:

I should have some time to work on this over the weekend [no big plans finally] so I should be able to check in frequently and hopefully get some screenies up to make ppl weak at the knees.

Well the simplistic style of the show makes it easy to cut out and separate certain elements from shots. I've already done that with Asajj and i've got out some jedi fighters to composite into the last shot.

I'm all for the idea of buidling new shots but keep in mind I can only really use elements that already exist in some way - take those, rearrange and repurpose them. Did you have anything specific in mind BSherrod?

it should e possible to recolour Tinn and/or Windu's fighters for example

I haven't really had time to work on this mush during the week but hopefully i'll have some free time on the weekend to tryout some ideas i've had.

Well My thinking is more to do with the realm of star wars than the character herself.

Specificallly i want to try out some things with her eyes. They just look too weird to me. I've tried adding a very slight white glow which looked good but i want to test out some other ideas. I wont go into too much detail until I've done some tests.

I'm also thinking of altering her flesh tone to something that is very pale - like a sickly pale shade, Rather than just white. I feel it may give her a more sinister appearance. I've got a feeling the white skin might be a rattatak trait tho, So i'm planning to look into a few things like that.

For the most part I'm not too concerned with the EU.

I actually like the blue green saber combo visually and given her Jedi past - from what I've read, it seems to make sense. Also I'm not really a fan of lightsaber colours outside the realm of red blue and green. Keep in mind at that point she is in NO WAY affiliated with the Sith.

PS Thanx for the star wars asajj forum thread link, I hadn't seen that.

Just watched this weeks episode and...Wow. How does the show just keep getting better every week? - And No Ali this week for you Jedisages out there

I think the new tagline needs to be "Don't fuck with Peter Petrelli" or Emo pete as we call him around these parts [it's the hair]. Now I'll need to watch it again tomorrow to see what I missed the first time, Any isaac predictions etc...

Sixteen episodes deep and no looking back. I think next week is a flashback [ala 'six months ago']- It'll be good, Just hard due to the cliffhanger nature of events this week...

Well early on GL mentioned something about wanting to do 100 hrs. I took that to mean 100 episodes. e could have been referring to either project or just stating what he'd like.

I've seen various sources [including steve sansweet ]indicate that the animated series episodes would be 30 minutes, so approx. 22 minutes each i'd say, allowing for commercials.

I'm not sure whether they are planning to get 'clone wars' up and running and then have both shows in production together later on, or totally get it made and out of the way first.

IMO for a live action series you'd need an hour long timeslot to make it worthwhile. 30 mintes is a pretty short slot and more suited to comedies and soap operas. They'd probably be better off producing a number of mini-series' instead

I can't back any of that up with quotes, It's just what I seem to recall [and opine].

does anybody actually want this?

I think everyone is more interested in where they can go with a live action series. But to experiment with this first seems to be a waste of time and pushes any further shows farther back. Granted it may be good, but is it just going to be the clone wars redux?I get the feeling that this is a show for George more than a show for the fans.

They should have left clone wars in the capable hands of Tartakovsky [sp?] and focused on other shows themselves imo.

It will be Geoge Lucas quality indeed.

Requiem for a Clone War dream... (2003 series) (* unfinished project * - lots of info)

First off - I'm spending a bit of time for a general method that works for all the lightsabers. It's hard to get consistent results using the exact same methods form shot to shot. Here's something i've been tweaking. I'm not quite 100% happy with it yet - Some bits might need to be toned down a bit, Of course I'm trying to work WITH existing effects here rather than replacing them entirely...What do people think?

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/2581/saberuploadag2.jpg

I should mention it is a little hard to visualise out of context [motion] and it is clear [in motion] which blades cross where etc.
And note that I've left the blade edges 'sharp' here rather than softening them slightly with a white blur. Not for any reason realy, Just a work in progress.

Aside from that I'm still on the lookout for suitable music to use. To that end I've begun listening to some of Gustav Holst's 'the planets' tunes and noticed some sections that might fit in very well.

here's the original shot for reference

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/635/referencebr7.jpg

GhostAlpha26,

RE: Fisto - I'm pretty much happy with this part as it is. I'm not really bothered by the 'boiling water' issue so it's not really a problem for me, Just something I thought about while my mind was wondering. I also love the music for the underwater part so I'll try and keep things mostly as they are.

RE: ARC Troopers - I plan to add more colouring to the ARC troopers and troops in general. In AOTC there were colour codes for the commanding ranks but with ROTS practically every single trooper had coloured markings, even some i thought were all white had pale grey sections when i looked closer. Rather than a transition from one style to the other I prefer to assume that the 'coloured' markings snowballed pretty quickly. That said I'm trying not to interfere with established characters / colour schemes.

RE: Durge - The Chewie growl ws something that I noticed right away. It didnt really bother me too much initially - Felt more like a throwback to the old days. I'd be up for replacing it, I wont want to stray too far tho. does anyone have any idea what D would sound like, Does he speak at all? I know practically nothing about the guy...I might go do a little research.

RE: Ventress - I'm happy with th egreen and blue but i'm prepared to consider other options.

One thing I'm going over is the timeline of the clone wars and the whole sequence where Dooku meets Ventress does seem a little out of place in the context of the story. I'll consider the idea of a flashback if it works out well - without confusing the audience. Apparently this should have happened before the 'battle of muunilist' but I could be mistaken.

When the story is taking place at Ilum right after Padme receives her coat from C-3P0 the next shot is of R2's upper dome spinning and the way it spins his eye spins behind "camera" and the optical eye is back in front way too fast.

I never noticed that, I'll check it out.

The "hut hut hut" never really bothered me, It makes me smile. Keep in mind these guys aren't anything special - just Ventress fodder. Might work out about the same with purely footsteps.

The final product wont have volumes. It will be one long chapter spanning all 25 micro chapters. Credits at the end just like the movies. I'll be redoing them to include all the series details [both volumes] and anything additional. I'll be happy to list those who help me out. For peple wh get a kick out of that sort of thing.

The first chapter when the Troopers are fighting grievous I thought it would be cool to add cuts/slashes onto the troopers similar to what happens to them when they fight grievous on coruscant in the chancellor's room

Hmm. I just took a look and you dont really get to see the impact tho, GG slashes these guys across the front and they are facing away from us.

I do like the Ani walking thru the streets but the whole sequence could be trimmed down a bit.

The scene of C-3P0 and Padme during the Battle of coruscant should be gone

Most definitely! I don't know what else to say. It's a pointless shot and makes the city feel VERY small.

I have to agree with you on the Dantooine sequence. Overall I like it, I doo think it's over the top tho, If possible iI plan to spread it out a little more and trim it a little. Basically we should see that he can take on these Droids but it is actually taking a toll on him and his performance. One thing I'd like to add would be a shot of him tkaing a break for a second, He's about to be attacked and his troops blast the Droids, allowing him to regroup for a second and take off again. It didnt start out as a one man show.

Overall thanx a lot for the suggestions, Keep them coming....[everyone]

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed?
Time

A star wars game is cool because it is star wars.

Then they must be catering to a specific audience. One that is excited to be playing within the realm of 'star wars' regardless.

I thing Rots - the game taught me best of all to be wary. Why couldn't they just be honest with us, It's a 2d combat game with lightsabers... and hey cool I can force jump...Nope, Only when I stand on coloured markes on the ground...What's with that?

At this point it looks like Lucasarts are wanting to play around with and showcase new technologies they are able to work with [ala George]. If the game has a decent story that can happily co-exist with those of the films and gameplay consists of more than furce slamming people into things then it might be a winner. It doesn't have to be the best thing ever. it just has to...not suck.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Look, I had a thought about this last nite and depending on what you guys want out of the shot/shots you could actually have Vader fly off post DS destruction and then actually use the footage of him and plapy in esb later on, It's not perfect but it's possible I guess. I do love the idea of the hologram in the tie while he's flying tho, just like Obi talking to Bail.

Republic commando stared out interestingly enough but killing wave after wave of battle droids got boring fast. There was nowhere near enough times to fully utilize the unique skills of the squad mates either. I still haven't managed to finish it. The Multiplayer side of things wasn't really worthwhile either.

I'll grant that Jedi Outcast was pretty good, Some parts were fun and I have played through a number of times, But there were parts that were a bit bland.

I've got nothing against battlefronts - [except that I can't pilot any of the ships to save my life] but it's not something you can jump in on your own and bash around. Yeah I know it's not supposed to but that's just me.

Rebel assault has got to be one of the most frustrating games i've ever played.

Did anyone actually really honestly like Revenge of the Sith: The Video Game?

When I spend in the neighbourhood of $100 [AUD] on a game i expect to be entertained and feel that i've got my moneys worth - if crap games had slashed prices I guess I wouldn't mind so much.

cool. I was also thinking that QG seemed pretty heated during that sequence but that was probably on account of the melting door 'metal' I guess.

So while i'm starting to assmble this clone wars beast...

What were peoples most and least favourite moments during the series?

And I guess, What would you most lie to change? - For any cool things I may have missed.

Obviously some things are under wraps atm. I was planning a short comparison vid for lightsabers but i'm getting some nasty results so I may just post some shots in the mean time. I'll also set aside some time today to rewatch both volumes, Partly to give myself a break and partly see which parts I enjoy the most.
