Iron Man 1-3 Mash-Up Fan Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

I'd love to see Howard cut just for consistency sake. -maybe Cheadle footage from elsewhere could work? His character on House of Lies spends a lot of time on the phone which might work...but also spends a lot of time swearing which wouldvbe out of character for Rhodey.

Are you keeping Jeff Bridges as an antagonist?

If you can imply that Tony gave the suit to Rhodes then go with it. It never sat right with me the way he took it, and the party scene in general was pretty weak.

in terms of timeline - just go with what is interesting. IM1 jumped around a bit and deleted scenes show that Avengers was going to start by showing the aftermath of the battle.

My computer keeps restarting itself. What the #$&@ is causing it?
Time

Firstly, you deserve a medal for keeping a PC alive and running for 10 years. that's a fair effort. I think my best effort is about 3 years.

Without taking a good look at your computer it's hard to diagnose but ideally you'd want to start with the cheapest options first with spending money being the last resort.

it could be a virus or nasty software. - running scanners / cleaners should turn something up it that is the case.

it could just be a simple glitch with your OS - in  which case you can probably do a 'refresh' by inserting your OS installation disc - similar to reinstalling but should keep your other data intact.

Your system hard drive might be damaged. I had a similar issue recently and that turned out to be the culprit.

Scan your drive/s, run virus / malware checking software.

Try running Linux from a cd. similar issues?

Back up your files [for piece of mind] and try performing an OS refresh?

failing those, reformat and re-install your OS. see if the problem persists.

NEVER smack your PC. This causes far more problems than it solves in the long run.

it could be some other minor thing that I/we haven't covered. If you try some of those it might narrow things down if it doesn't solve the issue altogether..

I think there will always be a Terminator reboot in the near future.

The sad thing is that T4 could have been interesting [if not great] if it had gone the way it was originally written.

I've been re-watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles which has put me back in a Terminator mood but it's had to get excited for another film at this point.

I wonder where we'd be if Jim Cameron had gone with the 'happy' ending to T2 instead..

The Hobbit (2014) - Resource and idea thread
Time

*Cough* Sharky ;)

Obviously they are building towards something with Azog but hopefully he can at the very least be reduced to just another orc.

I'd rather cut the Azog attack and lead straight to the area near Beorn's house - rather than relying on eagles again. iirc they are similar environments.

The opening scene of Smaug is fun but it may feel like an odd fit - and clearly some time passes between it and the meeting ant Bilbo's house. - it might be possible to keep some of Ian's opening narration [depending on the music, i guess]  - just stop short at him telling Frodo things he already knows.

I'd like to lose the 'Good morning' scene but I feel it sets things in motion.

re: Tauriel - I feel the same way, at first I thought she'd be a distracting addition but I quite like her, I'd go so far as to axe other scenes in order to keep her around. Not too sure on the whole romance angle though, wait and see how things play out, I guess.

Star Trek Into Darkness Bonus disc (Released)
Time

Awesome.

Just found this thread while looking for similar projects.

I'd be interested in sharing but it looks like you already have everything that I do. - at this point I think I have all the featurettes but quality ranges from 1080p to 240p to screen recordings with bad audio.

That said, i haven't finished scouring the likes of Vimeo yet.

I'm mostly interested in deleted scenes [circa 720p] / gag reel type stuff.

Getting back to the Imax stuff, I wonder if it would be much hassle to cut out those sequences / re-sync with the proper surround audio and just present them as a standalone feature.

I own the commentary file so I'd be interested in taking a crack at it if you guys can suggest a quick and simple way of stripping out the DRM.

Guys,

I would have to re-author my disc, since I purchased the Target disc. I assume everyone wants ALL of the unique bonus features on one disc?

In all honesty, I be content with a bunch of files in a folder.

Star Trek: Dare Against Darkness (a ST 2009/Into Darkness Hybrid) (not released)
Time

How is progress going on this?

I've had a few thoughts, not sure if this stuff is possible or if it's already been covered, just thinking out loud..

What if...The federation and Vulcan high command really were plotting against Romulus? We could have old spock assigned or volunteer for a dangerous one way mission to destroy to Hobus star.

- this may make Nero seem less like a raving madman.

Maybe he slingshots back in time and a secret romulan warship [the Narada] gets sucked back as well.

Spock completes his mission which wipes out Romulus. Later we find Nero in a klingon prison [deleted scenes] where we learn he was a designer of the Narada [which wont be built for quite a while]. - re-dub the Klingons in Klingon

Nero decides to escape upon learning of the destruction of his homeworld. Being familiar with the Narada, he captures it with some other renegade Romulans [fellow prisoners?] and sets course for Vulcan.

- it makes little sense that Nero would stay in a prison for 25 years if he could break out so easily.

At some point Section 31 learns of this powerful ship that easily destroys fleets of ships and even a planet [partly using technology they stole form Spock]

Marcus decides to capture and re-purpose the Narada - maybe recristen it as the USS Vengeance.

- it's a bit unlikely that they'd have the resources to build the Vengeance after the losses suffered at the battle of Vulcan.

- with Romulus and Vulcan both out of the way, Marcus makes a play for total domination by wiping out the only other super power - the Klingon Empire.

- makes a little more sense than having 2 superpowerful warships.

- get rid of the promotion / demotion nonsense. Kirk remains Pikes first officer until his death, Kirk inherits the Enterprise [maybe only as acting captain] to capture John Harrison and Spock joins as his first officer.

- John Harrison is just John Harrison. No super strengh, no magic blood. and most importantly - no scenes directly lifted form the Wrath of Khan.

Maybe Harrison learns that Marcus has the Botany Bay crew and intends to use them as an army. He tries to hide them and cripple Marcus' resources.

maybe he's been genetically engineered? a covert agent?

young Spock - did you ever in your travels encounter a man named John Harrison?

Old Spock - He is a particularly troubled Romulan.

i'd also be interested in stronger ties to the Next Generation era of movies as well as more on the origins of the Narada. if at all possible.

I would have liked Nemesis better had Shinzon had an actual reason for wanting to destroy Earth and Data been treated with a semblance of respect.

It was no more daft than Khan's vendetta against Kirk.

If it wasn't for the Federation Shinzon would not have been born to a life of slavery, sickness and perpetual darkness.

If it wasn't for Kirk, Khan would be still frozen or executed for hijacking and would never have met his wife.

I still think it would have made more sense to set his sights on the Romulus; after all, the Romulans are the ones who directly made him the man he was, and he already hated them with a genocidal passion, anyway.

Well, he DID murder the entire Romulan senate.

It's hard to know exactly what Shinzon had planned but I think it's safe to assume that not all of his dogs were barking.

Watched the whole first season of Corner Gas. Love it. Now I need to check out the rest, I think there are 6 seasons in total.

Thanks! Series is pretty good and I was almost out of new things to watch. Near the end of season 2 already.

 Not bad, aye?

I watched about half the second season last night. It's pretty hot here atm, so not a lot else to do (about eleventy one fahrenheit).

I tried giving agents of shield another go but it's just no good. I think I'm done. Kinda feels like wasted potential.

I haven't seen the latest episode yet but I've enjoyed the rest of series 3.

Saw the Helix premiere [episodes 1 and 2]. Not sure what to make of it yet, I liked what I saw but it never really hooked me. I'll give it a fair go before deciding whether I like it. I WAS tired when I watched it so I may have missed something.

Started watching Twin Peaks. I dunno if it hasn't aged well but it seems incredibly silly. I never really got into it when it was new.

^^^ Do you ever see the sun?

Escape plan.

I quite liked it, I also got the impression that a lot of people didn't because they were expecting Arnold to play a catchphrase spewing killing machine.

The movie wasn't perfect, but it was interesting enough to keep me entertained.

I didn't even realize that 50 cent was in this movie - he was utterly unrecognizable to me sans his 'yo dawg' persona.

2.5 balls.

^^^ I'm still thinking - if somebody else is interested, don't wait for me to decide.

Hey guys - is anyone interested in joining a 10 sector challenge?

Doomworld’s 10 Sectors competition was held in 2000 and is widely regarded as one of the most successful editing competitions in the history of Doom.

The basic idea is that you build the best map that you can while only using 10 sectors.

http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Sector

My friend and I were considering doing one - on a small scale - just for fun. See how things go from there.

I'm more interested in doing it for fun than creating great results.

I'd assume by this point that everyone would have access to a copy of doom / doom 2 etc. And the tools are all available for free. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube and such.

Bad Grandpa.

It's part sketch comedy / part hidden camera pranks. For the most part it works but as a full feature it does drag a little in a few places.

There were a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments and a few gross-out moments so I'd recommend it if you go for that sort of thing [ie: dick jokes.]

3 Balls.

Airplane and Airplane II.

Stupid, but in a good way. I was watching them while doing other things so I may have missed a few of the sight gags.

The Lone Ranger.

I felt that it started interesting but i kinda got bored early on. And the colour grading made my eyeballs want to scream. It's the old west - why is everything a sickly green shade?

1 Ball.
