Episode 14 i think of season 3 will kick off a fresh volume called 'Fugitives'. As far as I konw nothing played out as initially planned back in season 2. The WGA made them hastily wrap up that volume, then with time on their hands the producers planned out a new "Villains" arc. - Going by special features on S2 DVDs the storyline with Adam and the virus was intend to run another 8 or so episodes. IIRC.

I always thought that was funny how they left Star Trek out of the title, it was like they were trying to hide the fact that it was Star Trek because Star Trek had become uncool. Like they wanted to trick people who didn't like Star Trek into watching it. I can see non Star Trek fans flipping through channels, "Hey, a new sci-fi show, well as long as it isn't lame Star Trek, I'll give it a go... did I just see a Klingon??? That was a Klingon! They can't fool me, this IS Star Trek!" flips channel.

It was kind of funny, because most the time you want to use your popular brand name as a selling point, not hide it.

I took it to be a case of "we're trying something different here so don't get upset when it doesn't feel like your beloved TNG". But then that's probably just me.

Everything links back to the company. Every major villain, hero or event. And in a universe shrinking move even more of the major players are related to each other, Flint being Claires uncle along with Peter and Sylar...

I'm guessing Arthur now has access to Sylays power - via Peter. Wondering if this includes 'the hunger' that Plagues Sylar / gabe. We haven't seen Artie angry or upset so we don't know if Maya's ability will affect him like it did her.

It seems like he's just become far too powerful, Hopefully they'll be handling things in an interesting way, there's only a few episodes left in this volume.

I've got my doubts too, ultimately I don't have much invested in Star Trek these days, I'm just curious to see what they manage to pull off with the [somewhat] stellar casting involved - Eric Bana = :)

I don't think this will ever sit comfortably with TOS, but How about this? - We wait until we've seen it first. yes it looks worlds apart from what we know, yes it will be strange with an all new cast playing established roles, but hey - we were willing to give Nemesis a fair go ;)

I think i'm one of the 5 or 6 people in the world [sic] that actually liked 'Enterprise' [yes even before they tacked 'star trek' onto the title screen].

This is probably well beyond the scope of any re-edit, but it bothers me that the main thing the Jedi have against the Emperor is that he's a Sith lord.

General Greivous dies, then the Jedi go full battle ready to arrest the man. Is being a Sith lord technicaly illegal? They have no proof or evidence that he's done anything wrong. The man doesn't even have a single session of the Senate to renounce his emergency powers. It just seemed really rushed.

And they have no record of the Sith doing any wrong for 1000 years or so :)

The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

I feel like they are slowly staggering in the right direction but more weighty plotlines would be great, genuine drama even.

Characters like Dooku / ventress / GG seem to do things for absolutely no reason*, I'd love to see Ventress motivations, we did get a slight hint of this in the 2d series but they've pretty much wiped the slate clean and started over with this show. with circa 22 eps per season they've certainly got room for some long story arcs.

* This is a problem with the PT in general.

It WILL feel like a total cop out if they phone in Ahsokas absence from ROTS era at the last moment. I don't expect a masterpeice from a show like this but I would like them [the writing staff] to try a little harder.

I'll put on my 'skyjedi2005' hat for a moment and say The Clone Wars movie is a prime example of too much style and not enough substance - they should till be stinging from the reception that recieved.

At this point i'd like to see less of GG and more of Obiwan and Padme - who are the main characters of the films that bookend this series. - I recall seeing some GG footage in a clone wars promo that looked quite interesting - having his damaged faceplate removed - moving about with no legs, instead all we've really got thus far is him fleeing from battles.

Idea: a Casino Royale/Quantum Of Solace edit?
Time

Are you talking about cuttiing both into one film?

From what I've heard the flavour of QOS will be a bit different. Although it follows on directly from CR i'd expect it to be action heavy and light on the character development. I guess we wont know until we've seen the film.

Personally I think CR is fine as it is. I actually enjoy it more than a LOT of the older Bond films.

I would have to redo all my texts cards! NooOOoo

Well if you'd be interested TMBTM, I'd be willing to lend a hand for things like this and I'm sure that others may well be. Might i also suggest adding the name of the person speaking to cards? - you could do the names in grey and the dialogue in white.

That might be handy for scenes like the end of TPM where yoda and mace both speak quickly and you cut to a dialogue card showing Mace's dialogue before we've even seen his mouth move...it could be assumed that all dialogue shown could be attributed to the one character, Yoda.

even cropping the video to a full frame 16:9 ratio may help give it an 'old' style.

The Matrix: Noir Edition (obsolete thread - see info for new project)
Time

Okay, I've just been flicking through the film and have two early suggestions for you.

I think you should remove the title as is since it actually simply reads 'matrix' rather than 'the matrix' - The movie is marketed as THE Matrix and characters within the story always refer to it as THE matrix and not just matrix.

Secondly I think it would be better placed after the initial scenes with Trinity. After Smith rams the phone box the 3 agents look at the rubble and the camera pulls into the telephone handset and zooms to a fully black screen, I'd think this a good place for the title reveal. the title sequence also does look a tad dull compared to the sequels.

My other suggestion is something i noticed while tinkering with the colours...After escaping the matrix Neo asks Morpheus why his eyes hurt, and he is told that he has never used them. Having been asleep for that long maybe you could add some focus distortion to [at least some of] the shots where neo awakens in the real world. I think there are about 3 shots from his direct POV. nothing to overboard just subtle.

Thoughts?
