Okay in the first film neo asks about the EMP, and Trinity tells him it is their only weapon against the machines...

But in the other films we see that the humans have many effective weapons, gatling guns, lightning / plasma type guns, rockets even...I was thinking that if she were to say something to the context of "...our best weapon against the machines" then it may not hurt the first film too much and allow the sequels to make sense.

I much prefer the reality presented in the first film were they have to be careful cuz they don't have the means to fight sentinels for example, but it would be damn near impossible to present the sequels in such a fashion. obviously it comes down to what is actually possible as well but i think it deserves consideration.

Any idea what is different/new in this version?

There's no reason that they couldn't include William Shatner in shoes other than Kirks. I'm pretty he mentioned that no one from the film production ever contacted him.

skyjedi2005, they aren't making this movie for you. They are maknig it for people who go to see blockbusters. Star Trek as it stands is dead. They are catering to a fresh crowd with fresh dollars in their pockets.

heh, Spock from 10 minutes in the future or some such? I was under the impression that Nimoy was the time traveller. Although it could make sense for young spock to be zipping about ala that shot of him appearing on what appears to be Vulcan in the trailer.

I wasn't being overly serious, just saying there COULD be any number of reasons why that happened.

You felt the plot of a new hope worthy of 10/10? really? the mish mash of borrowed and stolen themes, the ambling dessert scenes, the convoluted ending showdown? - I love the film but i hardly consider it a 10, especially when comparing to other films.

I mean you give the special effects of ANH ann 8, the special effects of ROTS a 4 - visually the effects of rots are far superior - If you are factoring in things like innovation then i'd like to hear that sort of thing.after countless revisions there are still matte lines in ANH...

I do agree on some points but i think a more in depth look would be more useful, and indeed interesting.

Michael Giacchino also scored the incredibles - which i love.Certainly not an upstart in my mind. That doesn't mean he is perfect for Star Trek but he has not given me reason to doubt him yet.

Kiners CW music serves its purpose, IMO.

Chekov doesn't look like a 5th Beatle anymore...and I'm okay with that. It IS hard to take in all of that, Hopefully we will see a proper trailer closer to release which shows a bit more of what the movie is about.

It breaks down like this, we pretty much get this or nothing as far as the Star Trek franchise is currently concerned. I'm going to wait it out and see how things go. Yeah it could be terrible - but there's been terrible moments in Star Trek before, and we're still here, still intrigued.

oh, the look of the enterprise is freaking wierd, but i'm digging that USS Kelvin - looks in the old style but nicely detailed.

The first film? that was set nearly 30 years ago. Interesting...I think I'd much rather a cameo by say Robert Patrick...Surely he could use the paycheck.
