Beatles Remastered Albums Due in September

It's "Rock Band: The Beatles."  Literally, that's what it is.  The Rock Band game, with Beatles songs and plastic instruments that look like their favorite models.  But that is neither here nor there.

I think its neat that they're not only releasing them all in stereo, but releasing a package with all of the mono albums in mono, just in case you're a purist.

Here's hoping they include Beatles wigs.

They already did it! Just didn't release it yet.

They may well have already done it but I for one am not sure if I will be buying a blue ray player for a long while and going by the DVD set I'm not sure I will buy the same film again for the umpty thrumptieth time, possibly at a stupid inflated price and with the Ugnaughts replaced by cats wearing dog outfits waving turquoise laser toothpicks around in the latest round of George's attempt to capture his original vision and with everything tinted mauve this time.

The TPM puppet is an element (a really awful element) but while fiddling about doing something else I saw it starting to look a bit like Yoda so I posted a few pictures to see if it was just an accident or if anything could be done to save this very expensive mistake.

Clearly nothing can but it was worth a try especially seeing as we have no idea when this CGI Yoda will turn up and there are a lot of people who want to do edits of these films now (think of how many edits we may have missed if we waited on Lucas, would we be actually editing at if we waited on him long enough he might make the perfect Star Wars anyway, unlikely but possible).

We have no guarentee that the new CGI Yoda will work any more than the new Jabba in the DVD version of ANH did (same model as in TPM but colour and lighting way off and no solution to the tail stepping problem).

Just saying George is going to fix it if we buy yet another version of a film he should have got right the first time is no reason to be complacent.

I've been having a thought about the Trade Federation and the boring tax situation, Magnoliafan turned them into slave traders, but if a skilled artist manipulated those carved faces at the Gungan sacred place there could be another reason for them wanting the planet.

Something like this (only better):

Trade Federation Gods

Now it's more of a case of wanting it back rather than just wanting it.

They could have colonised the planet a long time back when the Gungans were still a primitive race (something the Trade Federation still think they are) only to be driven off by the Naboo. The Gungans religion could have started off as a Cargo Cult worshiping the Neimodians as Gods, later as they became a sophisticated race they still believed in the Gods but didn't recognise the Trade Federation as being them:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult

It would explain such practises as life debts if their Gods were really business obsessed bureaucrats and there are many regions on our planet which nations argue they have a legitmate claim to even though they haven't held that area for centuries.

I'd love to see that

Star Wars Time

Whatever the intention ESB feels like a span of a few days at most. Wasn't the whole point of going to cloud city that it was relatively close to where they were?

LEIA: What did you have in mind for your next move?

HAN: Well, if they follow standard Imperial procedure, they'll dump
their garbage before they go to light-speed, then we just float away.

LEIA: With the rest of the garbage. Then what?

HAN: Then we've got to find a safe port somewhere around here. Got any
ideas?

There's really nothing in the movie to indicate a great passage of time. Maybe they should have done a token 80's training montage?

Yeah, I get that - ala bob dylan / Jimi hendrix tie-ins...Just seems odd looking back that what led them there should probably have lead them here instead.

I dunno. I'm slowly rewatching it all - 2 eps per week [with mates / BSG virgins] So I'll pay extra attention this time thru ala Prophecies and 'maps to Earth'

I don't have enough details to argue a point here I'm just thinking out loud.

Hmm, I just thought of something...Am I wrong here?

The 12 colonies were named after 12 constellations - that we can see from Earth - THIS EARTH. Why would those Constellations lead the Colonials to a completely different planet - also known as Earth? [the irradiated Earth]

I think the fact that Anaking goes to the Dark side becuase he doesnt want to loose his love, his wife is pretty epic.

My two cents...

No, it just preaches the message that love is a bad thing that makes you kill kiddies. As underlined by Yoda preaching against attachment and against caring when people die.

I think you are both a bit off there...My two cents.

the rebooted continuity, I maybe can picture what it is:

ENT-era-----JJ's era------movie era-------TNG-Era

That don't work. I think you need to watch back to the future 2 again ;). Then again, If the Nero from the future is now in the past...how could we possibly know about it?

At present my understanding [whether i'm right or wrong] is basically this -

Please forgive the crudeness and scale of the mockup...

If you see carefully you will notice that the buildings in the background are not behind windows.

is like a balcony.

And yes it would be pain in the ass for ady to add the buildings, plus it ruins the awesome claustrophobic feeling.

Edit: Lol

Tension sheets?

Can someone please tell me why the background to each of these shots was changed? Im sure its been mentioned somewhere in the last 300 pages but I dont see the need for any of these changes to be made. Im sure theres a logical explanation though.

It was changed because it looked like shit. Ady's new background matte is 1000% better.

I dont notice any difference in quality apart from the colour correction. All I see is the pic is different. Why couldnt the pics remain the same but the background just be fixed up to Ady's (and ya'lls) liking?

As I recall there are two main reasons -

Firstly the same sky / cloud / atmosphere backdrops were used for varying locations - sometimes simply mirrored. and secondly the layout of buildings show no sense of continuity when viewing the same location from various camera angles.

If you don't notice a difference then I guess that's a good thing since it shouldn't be distracting.

It's highly likely you will see clips from the duel in the trailer but i'm actually thinking of giving you all a sneak peak at the behind the scenes short that i'm making of the wampa next week. it may even feature the final wampa footage with the new puppet if all goes to plan.

That would be insanely awesome. I'd much rather see BTS type stuff at this point rather than finished shots.

Darth Vader really owes Ady a beer for fixing his wobbly helmet.

Vader drinks Sithweiser's!

This may have been answered but is Bobba voice staying the same as it originally did or is it staying the same as the 04 version?

I thought he would drink a pint of John Sith's.

He has been known to down a Guinness from time to time.

So wrong but oh so funny.

When is Han told that Vader is Luke's father?

I don't know. I'm watching Return of the Jedi right now, so I'll pay attention. I never thought about whether Han is informed of the relationship between Vader, Luke and Leia before. I only remember the scene where she tells Han Luke is her sister.

uh...brother?

I've been skimming through everyone's thoughts, i'm in a bit of a hurry here...

I remember thinkign they should close with 'all along the watchtower' - and hearing that had me grinning like a fool.

I always assumed it was boomer who wrote cylon on her mirror. and i thought she deserved the end she got. As did Tory, she just rubbed everyone the wrong way.

I'll have to watch it again but overall i was satisfied although the pace slowed to a crawl as it was winding down.

The ending with Starbuck wasn't satisfying at all. after spending so long with the character we deserved a bit more than that.

I think I'm a little less interested in checking out the caprica spinoff series after the final revelation...

I might watch it again tonight - it probably wont feel as long the second time.

Re: the 12 cylon note - who knew at that point aside from cavil(s)?
