Right girls....don't get upset....The film is......

Bloody good!!

Like Johnny boy, I won't go into details...But I loved it. It's just a great big sci-fi epic that never lets up.

"It's Trek Jim, but not as we know it"

Great stuff!!

I knew you would love this "type" of film.

Have you [Hunter6] "seen" this film?

I'd like your honest take on it but that's probably not going to happen. Bottom line - the previous star trek film [Nemesis] was terrible. Is THAT really the style you want the new film to be true to?

and C3PX, I sugest you simply check it out, I understand where you are coming form but at least then you'll know for sure. Nothing worse than the uncertainty.

Hey Hotrod, do you actually get this one around the same time as the rest of the world?

Gonna go see it as [I] intended - with an open mind. If it sucks then it sucks, i can't change that*, But it's 12 bucks i'd just spend on cheeseburgers anyway.

* I'm almost certain that people are planning fanedits without having seen the film yet...

Pretty late to the party, but I just had this idea last night (and it takes me forever to make stuff like this):

Very good! maybe the x wing to be more down to have a better comp, but hell is awesome!

I like the plane remains, reminds me that in bespin can have air creatures/dragons that expand the universe.

Just wait, Lucas will have *Whales* flying around Bespin in the next edition.

A theory about the coloring on the 04 DVDs.

You explained to me why filmgrain exists but, not why it shouldnt be removed to make a clearer picture.

Can you cite an example of this? Because it is my understanding that such a thing would not be possible.

What I don't understand is why people seem to care so much - Sitting more than a few feet away I don't even notice the grain.

The [blue tint] colouring on the '04 DVD's on the other hand is noticeable no matter how far away you sit.

TMNT: Return to New York

Agreed :) SO... Uncanny Antman has been cool enough to help work out the musical issues I've been having with the  end sequence, here it is, its with out SFX and what not, but I think overall its a winner!!!

sounds nicely dramatic, balanced out [volume wise] and blended with sfx it could really work.

Also I've kicked around the idea of something to do after the credits...with the music off,and just using drums/percussion, have the turtles finish thier descent into the alley (see the WIP End Ver 001 for ref), do their moves/kata, they hear the police and run back to the sewer's closing the manhole after them. I'll have to change the words on the manhole, maybe say "the end" not sure, but I think that way I get to use all the footage possible.

Sounds like it could be good. I really wouldn't mind the film ending with a shot of the title ie: TMNT.

Now a question for anybody out there... I plan on re-doing KARAI'S dialogue later in the movie (the Japanese Female warrior/leader of the foot clan)with her JAPANESE dub from the JAPAN release of the movie (yeah that wasn't cheap... lol).. as such it got me thinking about possibly using the Spanish tracks for the opening of the film being it takes place in central America... and It would allow me to tweak their dialogue via subtitles, make it a little more threatening... tho it might be weird to open to a Spanish only flick for the first few minutes..  I don't know does it sound like a good idea?

I love both of those ideas and hope you go ahead with them.

I did actually enjoy the film but I do agree with you on just about all points. I'd be very interested to see what you come up with.

No sh**, it is science fiction, but the HUMAN characters in Star Trek for the last 43 years have moved like HUMANS, not like a cartoon characters. One of the points of Star Trek is it is about REAL HUMANS like you or me, not some human-looking alien race who live Far, Far Away.

No, one of the points about Star Trek is that it stopped being a successful franchise. The well is dry, the horse is dead. This is purely an attempt at starting over, picking out a few things that worked before and trying to get this heart beating again.

Whether the movie is good or bad is yet to be determined.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Thread

Wow, They had better do another season now. it's annoying when shows never recover from a cliff-hanger ending [ala red dwarf]. The ending was pretty interesting and they could really go anywhere from here - but we do still have a driving point for the story - "where the fuck is John Henry?"

It took me a bit to realise that it was actually Allison at the end too, If it were Cameron that dog would have tried to rip her face off - If Kyle Reese taught me anything. It could be that this is earlier than the point in time we know, But then the franchise is riddled with paradox, What's one more.

I looks like a future where John never sent Kyle back in time to protect Sarah...

Damn it Anchorhead, You beat me to it.

:)

How about turning The Classic Enterprise into a Deformed ship with an i-mac Bridge.

Actually, I can't argue that one. The other classic looking ship [the Kelvin?] looks great - a nice blend of the classic look and adequate detailing. I'm assuming there's a plot reason for the Enterprise looking so advanced but it still does look a little ridiculous to my eyes.

jones1899, I've frustratingly been unable to get the time yet to cover some various possibilities that I recently worked out. (I'm currently painting/decorating a big house after work)  I'm trying to get the time to organise certain screenshots to better show what I mean along the way, as I have a lot to post here, concerning potential variations for both the beginning and the ending of the movie, where things can be tweaked very differently from the current version.

There are plenty of other moments I've reworked in ways that I'd have preferred in the first place too, but i'll concentrate on the 'beginning' and 'ending' stuff first, as that is what you are most interested in, at this point.

As far as the movie's climax is concerned though, the current theatrical one is just so unsatisfactory in so many ways to begin with....  However, just to let you know, my alternative sequence for Spalko's demise DOES involve using some of the actual 'alien representation' shots, along with a way to streamline some of the more excessive CGI moments into something far tighter, using existing shots, without the need for any digital alterations along the way.  (Except re-colouring perhaps)  That wedding scene can be reworked quite nicely too, into something that outstays it's welcome less....

But this will all take a little more time to put on here unfortunately.

Definitely interested...

'Wolverine' takes a leak
Time

As interesting as the workprint was I just dunno if the finished film will be all that good. Especially given the way they treated the character of Deadpool - I fear that is the sort of thing that will turn people off. The other problem I had was not knowing who most of the other characters were.

I would be interested in seeing the finished product but it's certainly not the movie that the trailers led me to expect.
