skin tones look a bit strange in some of the shots still, otherwise it all looks pretty good.

I think the quality of the film is part of the charm, But i'd definitely be interested in your 'corrections'. As far as the sabers go - i think you should do various mockups - including the original colours - and see what looks best.
Good luck.

I was lucky that i got TFU sith edition these days. As an artist i noticed first the textures/light/mood and then the actual game. Which brings me to that:
the cubemap used for the tattooine mission.(lucasarts takes the credit there)
The original is in HR and i strongly suggest it for some tattoine mattes in ROTJ:R. it has all the key points we see in the movies with a very interesting landscape.
And no, HR is not available for you :P

What he said.
The project certainly isn't abandoned but it is still on pause. I'm actually between computers at the moment as my tower died on me suddenly. I DO have my data stored on external drives so I should be able to get back into things easily enough, although it will still be a week or two before I can get a new computer - as in the one I want. I decided it would be simpler to get a new system than repair the old one.
I'm sure you can all appreciate that effects like rotoscoping are a painfully slow process, Just rounding the tip of Dooku's blade alone takes a while, if you recal it used to be a very sharp poit, like the tip of a sharpened pencil.
I've also had a look back through the thread and noticed the difference in what i know now to what i knew back when I started, I'd like to take another go at the color correction as i think i've taken aout a bit too much colour - the main goal was to have flesh tones not be quite so yellow.
The main goals overall are
Make the introduction of Ventress a prologue scene
Main crawl and pan down sequence
recut the Muunilinst [sp?] battle so that the events all happen chronologically
Add more music - main titles / end titles / some battle music...
Redo ALL lightsabers - as in from scratch - not just added glows...
redo lasers and similar effects - where needed
colour correction - flesh tones / holograms...
add Jedi starfighters to the very end battle
reworked end credits - correct and add details, music, blue tinted font.
I'll do a more detailed list once i'm back in action.
It's cool that people are still interested in this - sorry it's taking forever to get done, that's just how i roll.
The important part that you need to remember is - maybe you didn't like this film but it might open the door for a future film you will really dig. For example, i can barely stand the motion picture - but it paved the way for the wrath of khan.
I think it was implied [although not clearly] that they [klingons] just couldn't figure out the ship systems. Which seems far fetched.
1 They obviously got the ship from one point to another after capturing the crew.
2 If a crew if miners could get the thing running, surely the boys down in Klingon R&D could figure it out.
IIRC in the comics they had a simple mining ship retrofitted with advanced [confiscated] BORG technology.
Without dismantling it for future weapons tech... ok, maybe it was a good decision to cut those scenes.
yeah...But they DID try to seduce Nero into sharing up his future knowledge to use against their enemies...
Other than that I did like the Klingon scenes - I guess with all deleted scenes they were cut with reason. Who knows - they may elaborate on it in the upcoming movie comic adaptation - or the current 'Nero' focused series?
RE: deleted footage...
A few of the deleted scenes seem a little too much incomplete to include just for the sake of being there IMO. If you want the spock birth scene "IN" I would cut right to it - removing the 'crab' entirely - also that [crab] shot had an onscreen stardate - that IIRC they never used anywhere else in the film [that is, as on screen text]
Similarly during the scenes where the Klingons are surrounding the Narada you could substitute the 'incomplete' shots with something else - the ONLY important part of that particular scene is the Klingon dialogue and possibly the reaction of various Romulans. A close up of a worried Nero should do.
- also you could look at inserting klingon ships from previous films? - after all star trek 7 used a shot from star trek 6 - of the klingon ship exploding.
for the kobayashi maru scene, I personally would like to see a hybrid of the two versions - I like the actual extended bits but on the whole some of the performances weren't too great in the deleted version.
My ideal edit would not show ANYTHING of Spock until Kirk calls him out during the session meeting... "who was that pointy eared bastard?" - I'm sure there are plenty that would disagree though. - Spock has PLENTY of screen [and story] time after this point.
Also, I wonder if anyone would be up to the task of trying to create some sort of Bill Shatner cameo - now that the original script idea has been released - a recorded farewell message for the elder spock...Since it WAS something they initially intended...
Another problem is if Nero's ship is in Klingon space when it arrives, why is the Kelvin there?
Pretty sure they [the KELVIN] weren't IN Klingon space but very close to.

I'm actually working on it but I'm not able to finish the special effects. Could anybody do it ?
what sort of special effects?
Sounds VERY interesting.
in that case I'll just post things in here [until you tell me not to]. How goes the doc VS walter death scene?
edit - just a further experimental ide RE: the flashbacks at the start...

Fixed ;-)
And I haven't noticed a green tint myself, but I'll definitely give it a closer look when I get to actually editing it. Thanks for pointing it out.
I'm NOT posting this as a correction, just to help point out the green. Like I said, sometimes it's all well and subtle but at other points it stands out. This scene isn't too bad really, it's just a shot I had handy...
trooperman ill post up a proper response when i have some more time free
Same dealio.
Don't commit to a deadline, get it done in whatever time it takes. Just chime in every now and then so that people know you are still alive.
Resisting the urge to quote Full Metal Jacket...

Ady See this approach too :)
Moody, foggy, WTF is going on moment. and slowly revealing the X wing :)
Thoughts?

Ady, Wondering if you've given this some serious thought. I agree with Vaderios here, it's a good way to mask some of the cheaper looking elements of the shot as well as keeping the mood.
It's different....maybe too different, but it's certainly interesting, And i know I personally prefer it...
Watched Trick 'r treat. I was expecting certain actors to be in it more than they were but overall I enjoyed it. I could easily see them doing a whole series of these movies, mix a handful of nutty tales with crossovers, maybe set each one in a different town.
Might have to watch it again and see if i can spot any more crossovers...It would be a cool novelty to see the stories play out in split scene in proper chronological order.
Didn't really get a chance to watch anything else.

I can put them also here for global feedback. ( from Darth Editous topic)
And yes this is not Star Wars as you grew up with :(
-Angel
Well done, Sir. I'm especially loving the stark imperial grey colour schemes.
So when are we going to see Star Wars: Revisited....Revisited? [per se]
The mockups are always bittersweet - they look great but leave me more dissatisfied with what we already have. Maybe that's just be but I'd love to see a lot of these concepts realised, irregardless [;)] of what purists, or casual fans might think is going too far.
Good work EVERYONE.
Have you considered simply using music for the big battle and just dumping all the sound effects?
A hero's journey?
Well I like the idea, and it's kind of a 'two birds with one stone' situation.
You are right though, It doen't need to be done, I just prefer it to what exists currently.
I disagree, I think that would give an impression that his power was unfocused. Which would be counter to the lesson he was trying to teach.
Also, in AOTC Dooku was tearing things apart - in ESB Yoda simply was lifting the x-wing out of water. Maybe there could be added bubbling and churning to the water but shaking trees doesn't make much sense in my opinion.
As for debris from when Luke crashed INTO the swamp, I'd be all for that.
I can't remember who first mentioned it here but there was a suggestion of the Tantive IV [or whatever it was in rots] going to Dagobah and the Skywalker twins being born there.
I'd much rather have Yoda simply stay behind on the planet after this. I think it's simpler than having him travel there solo.
Haven't yet but will soon. Still running the RC version ATM.
I'd watch this for the Starscream thing alone.
