the COD series of games look like shit and play like shit yet people flock to them. I'll never understand that.

I guess it probably has something to do with the fact that there's always another installment right around the corner, so people reach for their wallets when there's nothing else decent coming out..

finished portal2 and I gotta agree with Fives. despite being longer than the first it still FEELS short - i think part of it is that you get some cool new thing to play with then get ushered onto the next series of chambers without really getting to savour them.

My mind is reeling, still.

*shakes his head sadly*

Here's an idea - take your head out of your ass for two hours [and change] and go watch Serenity.

You might not like the film but you will probably understand the poll results better.

and yeah - what none said.

it's a bow fighter from the cologne wars.

and jupiter 2 from lost in space [partly visible on this screen]

Anyone been watching Stargate Universe lately?

Back at the start I thought it was rubbish but it's been getting pretty good in this last part of season 2. It's a shame it only got interesting NOW, now after it's been given the axe.

It seems that Syfy [aka the sci-fi channel] is doing it's damndest to kill off any sc-fi broadcasting. I guess it's the MTV of our [not you Frink] generation ;)

What Have You Been Eating?
Time

We're in the midst of a 5 day weekend here in Oz [Easter + ANZAC day] so today a bunch of friends converged on my place and we had a bbq cook-up.

firstly, I literally bought out the entire asparagus supply from the supermarket - tomorrow will be a day of regret ;)

Asparagus on the hotplate smothered in oil and salt is incredibly addictive.

and usually we try new and different things. After a few beers we decided to make what we're now calling Beggs.

Throw some egg rings on the hotplate, get some eggs in there, mix some beer in with the egg white and throw on a light sprinkling of herbs. cook, flip, eat.

on top of that a few of the kids went scouting and came back with some mushrooms. After determining them to be non lethal we chopped those up and had them grilled with butter.

and some gourmet sausages and other general bbq staples. oh yeah, and we fried up some Halloumi. All in all an interesting dinner.

probably got more photos. might throw them up later if anyone is interested.

I'd never seen the thing before.  Man - I was floored at the cheese level.  It was cheese at a Top Gun, Point Break level. How do actors bring themselves to even speak those lines?  Every moment was full-on, overly dramatic, shake your head in disbelief at the corny dialogue cheese.

"Let's kick the tires and light the fires"

It was like a train wreck.  I couldn't look away.  Unbelievably bad.

I'd watch it again just for the cheese factor.

Bill Paxton was great as the president, though.

I was sitting around after work and realised it's Portal 2 day so I went for a drive and grabbed a copy. I'll fire it up at some point after dinner.

I've got high expectations for this one, it had better not disappoint.

I thought about running through P1 beforehand to get back into a "thinking with portals" mindset but I only have it for PC and don't have steam on this comp. I assume they'll drop us in the shallow end again..

OT.com, the movie!

I've always wanted to do a heist movie. How about - 005's Eleven?

...Adywans's familiarity with Star Wars makes him very reluctant to get involved, but when he begins to think of it as a good way to get back at his rival, George Lucas (Tv's Frink), who owns the three Companies, Adywan agrees to finance the operation....

Half-Life: Escape from City-17.

While far from flawless, these guys did a fantastic job on the little of it they did make. I'd love to see the whole thing, or a feature length film made by them. Unfortunately, this is from back in early 2009 with no sign of life since then. Beside the trailer I posted, there is a five minute long "part one" of the feature up on youtube, but the second part promised to be "coming soon" never showed up. I've always grimaced at the idea of a Half-Life movie, but man, these guys did an amazing job for a next to nothing budget.

have you seen Beyond Black Mesa? http://beyondblackmesa.com/
