Hope this friend ^ isn't the type to purchase a new call of duty every year [with a comment like that]..

It's been 5 years since Halo 3 and it looks like both a return to form as well as something fresh. and more importantly it looks FUN.

Borderlands was also a lot of fun so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Also looking forward to Farcry 3 and that's about it, not much else on my radar.

Maybe we can hook up with some Halo 4 - but at least one of us will probably need to be up at 3am. - I'm in GMT +10, you can do the math.

If I do manage to get it at midnight I probably will be up at 3 am..

xhonzi is probably getting really excited or Halo 2 right about now...

I've got a pre-order on Halo 4 and the advertised release date is November 6. Today I realised that November 6 is a public holiday, so not entirely sure what the go will be..

I'll have to check in with my local store at some point. Usually they do a midnight launch for the big blockbuster titles which could be cool in this case if i don't have to get up early for work that day.

If i can get it midnight that is probably circa mid monday morning in 005 time.

I assume the stores will probably be open since not every business observes the 'day off' and generally take a half day.

PROMETHEUS was (Alien 0?) NOW NO LONGER SPOILER FREE.

I would love to read Spaihts' script because my suspicion is that it started off as a probably workable Alien Prequel and then it was eroded by re-writes, edited in a vain attempt to get PG-13 and then released in it's current disjointed form.

I say this because the film doesn't work as a film not just as a related tale to Alien.

It's the first three episodes of a visually interesting twelve part mini-series poorly spliced together and trimmed to feature length by a not very gifted amateur.

I'm pretty sure that is what did happen, i'm sure Scott has mentioned that - in fact i think i have a magazine interview with Spaights. I might have to look it up..Scott kept saying that they'd changed from an actual prequel to something else..

if you had to give it a ball rating?

I may still go see it Friday after I go to the dentist but I'm finding it hard to get excited atm - knowing that the story fails to deliver..(I've learned too much)

I hear they even have plans for a sequel already. Prometheii?

Been watching some of the Microsoft presentation from E3, some interesting things coming up.

The Halo 4 stuff was definitely interesting, I think MC spoke more in that short clip than he did in the entire first trilogy.

The live action clip was also cool - at first I thought it was a lead-in to the upcoming webseries (forward unto dawn) but apparently it's just a standalone trailer.

one thing I noticed was that the sound effects seemed overly beefy, but then it might have had something to do with the quality of the video..

anyone else see that Doom 3 is being re-released? and that it's being released in the midst of all these upcoming blockbusters, I'm curious to see how this plays out - apparently it comes with the older games plus its own expansions but it's a game you can go buy for $5 or less these days...

They throw around words like re-mastered but i'm wondering just how much - or how little - work they are putting into that, from the teaser trailer it doesn't look like they've done anything, and apparently they've been workng on it for over a year.

Started watching Sherlock.

I had low expectations knowing that it's made by writers of Dr Who - but unlike Dr Who it's actually good.

;)

4 balls.

Them's fightin' words!

Though I agree that Sherlock is absolutely fantastic television.

Doctor Who is cheese and you know it. I only really tolerate Tom Baker era and even that was cheese [less so than the modern stuff, though].

Watched more Sherlock. Need to get up to speed before Breaking Bad begins again.

Everyone who watches Doctor Who knows it is absolute cheese. I hate to say it, because I thought it looked extremely lame for a very long time before giving it a chance, but it can be really fun cheese.

Sherlock on the other hand is absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite things to ever be put on film. Though I don't feel any episode has managed to be quite as perfect and true to Conan Doyle as A Study in Pink was. I wish it had maintained that quality, but even so it is still brilliant!

And mentioning Breaking Bad reminds me how disappointed I am they are stretching the last season out over two years. Seriously? We have to wait until the summer of 2013 for the last eight episodes of the season? Might as well just tell the truth and admit they are two seasons of 8 episodes each.

True re: Sherlock - But I do like that it's an actual series rather than a bunch of somewhat consistent storylines.

and as far as cheese goes - you guys can enjoy it all you want but it's [Dr Who] just not something I consider watching. It doesn't float my boat.

getting back to Sherlock, just finished series 1. The reveal of M was pretty cool. Looking forward to checking out series 2.

It's also comforting after the disappointment that was the second Sherlock Holmes movie.

The Girl with the Dragon tattoo [the David Fincher version]

3 Balls. [almost 4]

I really liked the detective story elements, the torture porn I could have done without. Not a movie to watch while eating dinner - otherwise quite good.

edit: somebody's art department was lazy...

also, the cover says 'from the international best selling trilogy' - this is a bit misleading. It is a remake of an adaptation of the international best selling trilogy.

Seen Religulous a few times, it's one of the things i put on sometimes in the background while I'm working. I could listen to Bill Maher read the phone book.

Re: Serenity. I actually saw it without knowing anything about it or Firefly, then later checked out the series. - The only problem with that is knowing the fates of certain characters, but I followed the movie fine without needing a bunch of awkward exposition shoehorned in.

Ringo? Don't you mean Rango? I mean, god knows I love the man with the most amazing nose of all time, but I don't think we rate drummers on the ball system...

I believe he was talking about me. Alien3 - the long version. It's overly long to watch in a single sitting and some of the effects shots look a bit dodgy. a bit of dialogue here and there is too faint - i understand this is bacause some parts are sourced from workprint footage where they never did ADR. Overall good fun. It's the movie that introduced me to the saga so there are fond memories. 3 balls. I've now seen all the Alien films in preparation for Prometheus, shouldn't be too long now..

There are some extras in Halo: Anniversary that weren't in the original but were in later games like Halo 3.

Skulls that alter gameplay when activated - a lot of them are in hard to get to places, so it's not just a matter of knowing where to find them.

Terminals are short videos that fill in some of the Halo lore, similar to the text entries in Halo 3. They also hint at upcoming events [ie: Halo 4 et al]. There is also a secret 11th terminal unlocked via the Halo Waypoint. - iirc you need all 10 in game terminals to unlock it.

I don't remember any other shooter from back in those days that let you do all the things Halo did - and so seemlessly.

I'd love to see an update of Halo 2 that actually includes the things they had to cut from the game due to time constraints.

Looking forward to halo 4.
