Prometheus. Yeah...again.

it still sucks. Saw it during a night out with friends. Had a good time overall.

Thought about fanedit ideas while watching it this time, got a few Ideas but will probably have to wait and see what the extended cut and deleted scenes provide.

Johhny Ringo. Frustrated Alien fan. Signing off.

The Mrs and I started playing Star Trek Online last night. It's quite a lot for being completely free. The only things that seem to cost make the game easier (having more slots for bridge officers) or are purely aesthetic (make your ship look like Kirk's Enterprise). They even sell one of the currencies.

I got what I wanted out of it, the starting ship can be a Miranda-class (like the Reliant from Wrath of Khan), which mine is named "U.S.S. Indianapolis", captained by "Lt. O'Five". My wife has a custom ship (you can use pieces from three similar classes to make your own style), the "U.S.S. Tyberius", captained by "Lt. Mrs. Paris".

Fun stuff.

I installed it a while ago but the game wanted to download a massive amount of updates before it would even let me in so I haven't bothered with it yet. maybe one day.

Went to download Dawnguard [skyrim DLC] last night only to find myself a few MS points shy of the asking price [1600] So I might grab some points after work today. The nearest store that has them is about a half hour drive from here but I need to head that way anyhow..

Taking into account the titles I have are there any must have original Xbox games you fellas and fillies would recommend?

I think I recall that you have a PS2, so you're only asking for Xbox exclusives, is that right?

Advent Rising
Riddick (Escape from Butcher Bay) especially if you're a Riddick fan, but even if you're an FPS fan. (It's on 360, and better looking, but it's pretty decent on the big black box)
Batman- Rise of Sin Tzu* is a great co-op game that my family has put plenty of hours into
Crimson Skies was pretty great.
As a Matrix fan, I really enjoyed both Enter the Matrix* and Neo: The Path of the One*
Fuzion Frenzy is a great party game that will entertain 4 or more for hours
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction* is incredibly great. It also runs in 720p, if you have the component cables and looks pretty good.
Indigo Prophecy* if you're into bizarre games with psychic detectives and whatnot
Lord of the Rings Two Towers* and Return of the King* are pretty good, if you're a fan. RotK even has pretty good co-op.
The Midway Treasures collections are a lot of fun if you don't have them all in MAME. And! it's a legit way to get them (if 005 is reading).
Monster Garage was simple, but good clean fun.
Prince of Persia Sands Trilogy* are some of my favourite games of all time (top 50 for sure, maybe higher).
Psychonauts*
Spider-Man 2*- there have been a lot like it since, but it was first to be this great.
Did someone already say Star Wars Battlefront 2*?
Star Wars Clone Wars was fun, even for a guy that pretends the prequels don't exist.
XIII* was a great shooter for its time.
X-Men Legends 1 & 2 are great, especially for X-Men fans. They both run in 720p with component cables as well.

(Halo 1 & 2 but you already said...)

That's all I got.

*I think these aren't exclusives

You [xhonzi] just reminded me that for a time I was playing a lot of 'party' games with housemates after work and the best of these was Mashed. car racing from a top down view, similar to micro machines and other games from back in the day, it is incredibly addictive and a lot of laughs. It's great with a bunch of people.

any games from that [console] era should be dirt cheap by now so you [Bingo] shouldn't have too much issue, the main thing might be finding things that have become rare..

I too am back in Skyrim after some time away. I'm kinda stalling now cuz I want to play the DLC before finishing the main storyline[s].

You might be waiting awhile..

EDIT - looks like the DLC - Dawnguard - will be out circa today / tomorrow. Might check the marketplace later on.

for anyone out of the loop the DLC features two factions - Vampires and Vampire hunters with a fat stack of new stuff and improvements like mounted [horseback] combat.

Also the vampires look beastly and powerful unlike the previous vampires of the series..

agreed. It's hard to recall what games I owned back then. The conflict games were a lot of fun, especially Desert storm 2 and Vietnam..

re Alice: madness returns - I own the artbook and there's stuff that was cut from the final game, that might account for the disjointed / messy path..I haven't played the game yet, I'm waiting to find it cheap.

hey Frink - what are these games you are playing?

I've been putting old lucasarts and sierra adventure games on my Android tablet via scummvm with good results so far. scummvm is an emulator.

I read Yesterday that they are planning to recast New Voyages / Phase II with at least one new professional actor, Taking over the Role of Kirk.

http://trekmovie.com/2012/06/20/breaking-star-trek-phase-ii-fan-series-recasts-their-kirk-exclusive-first-look-details/

All in all the show is good fun and well made. the Only thing that ever bothered me was that they killed of Chekov...and then he's there on the bridge in the very next episode.

They've also done quite well in bringing aboard original series actors and writers.

RE: galactica - that's what I was hoping from Boxey, shame they ditched the character a few episodes in. I never noticed but it's implied that the guy at the start is his Dad - I think there was a photo on the desk of them together.

Just watched the season finale of [Avatar but not allowed to call it Avatar because of James Cameron ] Legend of Korra.

Had a lot of fun with this show. I was never a big fan of the original series, the new version ties in nicely but follows it's own story. There is a new avatar [set about 70 years later], a girl named Korra.

The animation and acting is great and there's a lot of action to keep things moving along.

Also been watching some Tron:U - I like the style of the show but it really feels like it's dragging its feet, like Beck will never quite be ready to be the new Tron, he'll be forever training and the bad guys will always get away to fight another day.

PROMETHEUS was (Alien 0?) NOW NO LONGER SPOILER FREE.

c'mon guys. the Movie is clearly a reimagining of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory..

Maybe modern man just isn't what they'd planned when that guy dissolved himself..

- that could explain why the last survivor decided to be a dick and [spoiler] then all

They obviously weren't very good planners - the whole crew on lv223 [or whatever] was almost wiped out and one of them was decapitated by one of their own safety doors.

Bryan Cranston is suddenly in everything...

Wrath of the Titans. meh, not really worth mentioning - thought it might be a bit of fun but it's really kind of boring.

re: Red Dwarf - hoping the new stuff is like the old stuff, but I suspect it will be in the vein of Back to Earth, which was pretty unspectacular. It was a bit of fun for what it was but the jokes are mostly lame and the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'm hearing there's about 30 minutes worth of deleted scenes. Hardly surprising.

I'm sure I remember reading that the theatrical version of Prometheus was going to be the proper definitive version - but now I'm hearing there's an extended cut planned for the Bluray release - circa 20 minutes longer.

I wonder if that's just some sort of reaction to negative reviews?

I'm open to seeing the film again - mostly to look for anything I may have missed but it's just a mess in it's current form. I think 005 summed it up best - it really does spend a lot of time going nowhere.

PROMETHEUS

wow. no balls. this movie has no balls.

The only thing it didn't steal from the previous films is the one thing it should have - mood.

the big reveal was ruined by an earlier scene, I predicted the 'twist' that has no real bearing on the story anyway, any scenes that should be scary just come off as gross / disgusting.

Would have been nice to have the willpower to pull an anchorhead on this one.
