secrethistoryofstarwars.com gone
Time

Don't worry, look at his facebook's page: https://www.facebook.com/secrethistoryofstarwars

for everyone wondering, NO, the site is not dead and buried. But it will probably stay down until July or so. It's a bit complicated, but hopefully when it re-launches it will be better than ever.

In any case, you can still access to a backup using the waybackmachine: https://web.archive.org/web/20141218083642/http://secrethistoryofstarwars.com/

His legacy is safe :) I'm more concerned about savestarwars.com, which is long gone. Here's a backup from waybackmachine: https://web.archive.org/web/20141218111044/http://savestarwars.com/

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

As far as I know, Disney don't usually do actual "restorations", but more like "special editions" (look at what they did to their animated movies...)

I hope I'm wrong, but they may just take the negatives, recomposite everything (even add some new sfx) and sell these new special editions together with the "theatricals" ones (which would just be their versions cut as the originals).

So they get two great quality "updated" versions in one, and the average customer won't even notice the difference between their theatricals and the actual ones. It would be a great bargain to Disney.

They look pretty bad indeed: soulless, colorful yet desaturated, cgi-ish. I was wondering... should we call it "The new Faces" set? :D

P.S.: the movies are just named after their subtitle, just like TFA should. I never actually understood this new/old trend: this will probably confuse new fans which are just approaching the franchise.

kk650's Star Wars Saga: Regraded and Semi-Specialized (Released)

@John Doom: That shot looks fine to me, they're being hit directly in the face by a hot Tatooine sun during what looks like the middle of the day, i'd expect their fleshtones outdoors to reflect that.

As for the green fur, who knows? I remember reading somewhere that the colour of the sources they used to create the master for these releases were a bit iffy with colour shifts often happening in the same shot, which I've personally seen myself many times and what makes there Star Wars so difficult to regrade, and numerous other visual/colour inconsistencies. Perhaps the green fur is one of those things.

Thanks for the answer and keep up the good work! ;)

The two reviews complete each other: we did a good work :D

P.S.: after reading them, I just found out that the Italian dubbing gives a different "sand line", which is actually kind of better:

I don't like sand. It's grainy, rough and irritates skin, and gets in everywhere. Unlike here, where everything is so smooth and soft.

I think I found his article: https://web.archive.org/web/20020604000533/http://www.suntimes.com/output/eb-feature/cst-ftr-ebert14.html

Sunday I was able to see the digital version, and Lucas is right: "Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones" is sharper, crisper, brighter and punchier on digital than on film.

This will come as melancholy news, I suppose, to the vast majority of fans destined to see the movie through a standard film projector. Although an accurate count is hard to come by, there are apparently about 20 screens in America showing "Episode II" via digital projector, and about 3,000 showing it on film. Lucas is so eager to promote his vision of the digital future that he is willing to penalize his audience, just to prove a point.

[...]

My feeling is that movies shot on digital video look better projected on video, and that movies shot on film look better projected on film. Of course every theater, every print and every projector is different, so results may vary.

What I dislike about Lucas' approach is that he wants to change the entire world of film to suit his convenience. Because his movies are created largely on computers, it suits him to project them digitally.

It seems he didn't necessarily say that Lucas made the film version deliberately bad, though.

Episode VI: Return of the Ridiculousness
Time

You need to make Yoda act like a muppet. Being him dubbed by Oz means you can use Fozzie's lines as you wish!

Also, since I saw ROTJ the first time, I always pictured Yoda's last words like this:

Luke... remember to switch off the lights....

Luke... don't forget to shut the windows, or you'll get a cold...!

Luke... make sure to turn off gas...

(Luke goes away)

Luke... Luke, come here...

If you want to do it, you'll definitely need to find Fozzie's dialogues. You can find something in line in the movie "Muppets from Space":

Fozzie the Bear:"Of course I did. Mom said, always wash your hands."
Kermit the Frog:"Yes, but not when you're wearing invisibility spray!"
Fozzie the Bear:"Mom said, no exceptions."

So you could make "Luke..." + "always wash your hands.", or something.

====

Make Yoda annoying, constantly complaining about everything until the end of the movie: "(He's) too old!", "Rest I need" and so on!

====

Make Han make more troubles: he is spotted stepping on a root, right? Well, make him so that he's also the one who triggers the ewoks' trap:

Han: (whatever line)

Luke: No, wait!

(the trap is triggered)

Chewie: Graargh!

Han: It's not my fault! (ESB)

You could also make him more jealous of Luke, and so paranoid when they need to pass the emperial blockade that he wants to run away!

My guess is he's from the Alliance: it may be in uniform, but he's definitely not frightening :D Just look at your face, Miles!

The Brownshirts weren't all that frightening, either.

;-P

I know, but if they're going to show "Miles" as an Order officer, viewers are just going to take it with a large smile, he's not a believable villain :D

Or, who knows, maybe he's actually an Alliance spy!
