They both look like they're just being playful in serious situations because they're supposed to be fun films.

It's also not the same shot of Solo as wahoo, of course.

But it fits the character, right from his cowboy suit. You know, he's a cowboy. My statement applies to both of the shots.

In that one, he looks more like a radio DJ.

That he's a pilot probably just about to risk his life, not a kid on the rollercoaster. Woow! :D

Can you tell me what happens before and after that whhoooo scene, as you've obviously seen the film?

I said "probably". I say so becouse I saw plenty of times someone doing a cry like that in blockbusters, including "Mission Impossible 3" and even "Batman Forever"! If it'll be story-wise pointless or out-of-character, I won't like it. Just my opinion.

Of course, I'd be glad to be wrong, and that he has a very good reason to do it, not just acting like a kid!

Touchè and corrected with "goofy" :)

Wait a second, are the official teasers considered spoilers? If so, I'm sorry I put that link to the 2nd teaser. Should I remove it?

What part of that is stupid?

Person was excited. Person must be stupid.

Movies are supposed to have intelligent people not stupid people.

That's different, though. Han has just saved the day and his cry, not only doesn't look retarded goofy (just look at Dameron's face!), but is reminiscent of westerns' movies. In other words, it fits Ford's cowboy character.

As I said in the other thread, the only problem I had with it is that it felt too dark. I'm hoping there are some more lighthearted moments in the actual movie.

Thinking back on ANH, there were actually very few moments that I can point to as being genuinely funny. The only one that comes easily to mind is Han's conversation with Luke after the rescue "Do you think a princess, and a guy like me...". As far as lighthearted goes, there's a lot of fussy banter between the droids and the final scene of the film, but other than that it takes itself quite seriously. It doesn't give the audience a wink like Marvel movies, it's not jokey. I don't mind if TFA is serious fare.

Besides, the trailer was selling itself as EPIC, so lighthearted moments wouldn't have worked with the music. :)

Too dark may be too much (not even TESB went "full dark" :D). On the other hand, this kind of stupidity is what bothers me :\

particularly liked this one (if real):

On a funny note, my father said he looks like Hamill in this shot! (and I agree with him :D)

People were bickering about the then-forthcoming Revenge of the Jedi online on Usenet in 1982.

Would that still be archived anywhere?

Google Groups has the most complete archive, but the search is broken.

DejaDejaDeja.com has a much better search, but it's only 1981-1991.

Thank you, I've found a new way to waste my time. :P

Not bad, at least its second part (I don't know who edited the trailer, but starting with "Who are you" "I'm nobody" it's the cheesiest thing one could do :D).

I didn't read spoilers on the plot, but by the trailer alone, it seems to me it may be a bit more than the usual blockbuster, which is good. I hope Kasdan won't let me down.

Stylistically, if they are going to keep this color grading (which is consistent to the new poster), I don't like that a lot of scenes are so much saturated: very cartoon-like, much like the PT. Also, it looks like the Falcon is now decorated with christmas lights :D

Contrast is again too high, making most of the non-cgi scenes still look fake. It's a shame.

As expected, Captain Asthma looks like crap on screen: his armor is so shiny that he literally embodies the "lens flares"' concept :D

Look, as far as I can tell, Star Wars was a milestone for what became known as "Hollywood blockbusters". Even if it drew from a lot of difference sources, there never was a movie like Star Wars before it.

Fast-forward 38 years, films have changed, though inspired by movies like Star Wars.

Now, do you want Star Wars to become exactly like all the new blockbusters (with same patterns, same basic plots, same over-the-top cgi effects, and so on...), or try to stay true to the originals and/or try something different like it did back in '77? Do you want the Star Wars movies, the ones that changed films, to be changed by films?

Whether it's a teaser or a full length trailer, the goal should be the same: communicate to viewers the overall vibe of the movie, and instill a desire to see the film, without actually divulging any plot details which might otherwise ruin the actual filmgoing experience.

Based on that criteria, I'd say the trailers we've seen to date have been successful.

If they wanted to make TFA look as your usual Hollywood-style blockbuster, they did it right. Except that's not what I'm looking for.

What is Luke's goal in ROTJ?
Time

I still think throwing away his lightsaber was foolish. Even if Yoda and Obi-wan weren't able to train him to stand against the Emperor, I think it would've make more sense if Luke had done his best to defend himself, even if eventually losing. And THEN have Vader save the day and redeem himself.

The way Luke throws away his lightsaber looks like he's ready to die like in TESB, instead of actually giving his life to save the galaxy (like Vader later does).

The graphics in these games are getting so good, fan editors might be able to use them to create new shots.

Why not? But faces are still very "plastic-like", so it may be better not using in-game footage for close-ups.

To conquer isn't to kill, so I guess Luke wanted to defeat the Emperor in another way, maybe with the help of his father?

Well, by "defeating" I didn't necessarily mean killing, but throwing away your lightsaber isn't the smartest idea against that guy, either :D

Frank your Majesty said:

Anyways, you have seen how Luke rescued Han, does he really look like a guy with a plan?

:D My answer is:

HAN
Luke? Luke's crazy. He can't even take care of himself, much less rescue anybody.
