If anyone has links for this with JDownloader, please contact me.
This would be cool....finding a pm in my box would be appreciated as well.

Has anyone ever had a problem with copying a laserdisc using an S-VHS connector and had what looks like waves moving through the picture?
Sounds like the S-Video connection probably not being the best for video...is there a composite connection on the machine....that might produce better results.
ATI TV Wonder HD 650 pci (Digital/Analog) TV Tuner
Well, while getting ready to install the Leadtek card I found the above to replace the damaged one I had. Got it for a little less but the shipping cost was a little higher.
Anyways, I know Virtualdub seems to be a capture program of choice for a good many enthusiasts here, any other suggestions?
This will take a few days to arrive so I'd like to get prepared. Any suggestions and what not are always appreciated.

If anyone who reads this thread has the 1995 PAL THX LaserDisc set (the set was only released in France, Germany and Spain) and would be willing to sell/trade or loan their set then please PM me, otherwise I will just keep my eye on a well known auction site and see if I have any luck there.
Sorry I have no plans to do a preservation of the NTSC 97 SE set, however there may be a NTSC conversion of this release, I'll let you know more when I do.JediTray said:
Actually, it is Episode II. :)
Is anyone planning on doing the 1997 SE set with the bonus features?
UPDATE on the V2 release, the DVD image for ANH is completely finished, I do need to burn and test this but I am out of Verbatim DL DVDs at the moment so that will have to wait until I can get some more. ESB is on course to be finished by the close of play tomorrow. :D
Lee,
I may be able to send you a 10 pk of dual layers, they'd be JVC (Taiyo Yuden) which are 2nd only to the Verbatims, just as reliable, and made in Japan.
As for my SIMA update above...I did not take in to consideration the settings for my Pioneer Elite DVL-90. I currently use Cinema2 for watching movies with the V-DNR set @ variable with basic settings for the Y/C. I did NOT test the other settings and probably should have before making that statement. I will do a few more tests.
I am very excited about your stuff Lee...I'm sure they will look very nice.

I believe the only difference aside from the burnt in Japanese subtitles is that the 2000(ish) set had the Episode 1 preview like the VHS box set did.

Yeah, I realized that once I read your reply. My bad..............LOL
As for the bonus features.....I could do a capture specifically about the bonus features.....then maybe see if someone wanted to put them to their own disc with a nice menu revolving around the Faces set. My DVD recorder only does DD 2.0 audio @ 256kbps but I'm sure we could find someone to rip the AC3 audio for the bonus features so we could add it as an audio option.
Just a thought anyways.
Sorry Lee, I'm not trying to hijack your thread....just so you know.
:)
UPDATE:
The SIMA color corrector doesn't do all that well with my LD player and I'm bummed.
It will probably serve the S-VHS player much better.

As I say its just something I have been thinking about, I would need to acquire the French 1995 LaserDisc set first.Murry Sparkles said:

On a side note I have been thinking about having a go at doing my own preservation of the 1995 French THX LaserDisc set with English audio and I was wondering if this is something people would be interested in?
Count me in . Im very interested in a copy .
I would be interested as well. I just received my 1995 Faces LD set made in Japan with the sleeve art that was printed in the U.S.. They are sealed at this point and I got them for dirt cheap.
My SIMA color corrector came as well so I am going to do a few test runs as I need to learn how to use it properly.

I am not aware of any set that fully preserves the NTSC 97 SE LDs which to my knowledge had additional special features to the PAL set.
Crap. :( Well, I have the LD's if someone who knows what they're doing wants to tackle it.
In regards to the 1997 S.E. Laserdiscs....I have the U.S. Black LD box, the Japan Silver Box, and the Japan 2000 (ish?) Box with the new artwork.....I believe the only difference aside from the burnt in Japanese subtitles is that the 2000(ish) set had the Episode 1 preview like the VHS box set did.
I don't hate the prequels but I do believe their delivery could have been much better had they not been so mechanical in nature. The ONLY one that has a bit of natural feel to it is TPM.....the other 2 are simply way too digital and character development seems stifled by it.
They could have been much more even if the story lines stayed the same...case in point....Mace Windu. Samuel Jackson delivered his lines like a wookie in ewok undergarments and ended up looking like a wussy dressed like a Jedi and that was sad.
Impressive effects, unimpressive dialogue and story movement.
:)
I replied as well. I kept myself calm and amicable to both sides of the story while presenting simple facts.
When they do articles like this they should interview some folks to present a well rounded yet purposeful position.

Here is my blurb.............
Shawn on October 8th, 2010 at 6:45 am said:I have read both articles and this is my response.
I am a fan of the Original Trilogy releases. I grew up with them and they gave me my own little place in the universe to play, have fun, and grow. I understand that Mr. Lucas has every right to do whatever it is he’d like because they are his films. What I don’t understand is why the original versions can’t be made as accessible as the updated versions. The Original Trilogy is a product of the time in which it was created and it should be respected as such. They were very organic and paved the way for countless actors, directors, and filmmakers in general to up the bar. They should not be shelved or forgotten for that reason alone.
The Prequel Trilogy stands on it’s own as a testament to it’s time as well. Due to it’s more mechanical nature it doesn’t always compliment the story that came before it and I would understand simple adjustments to make the flow of all 6 movies more balanced. It makes sense.
In the end, fans of the Original Trilogy just want a real quality version of the phenomenon that started it all, no changes, no enhancements, just the 3 movies that created a following that endears to this day. Mr. Lucas should be proud, not ashamed, of what he did with the limited time and budget he had. Mr. Lucas once triumphed the cause of film tampering when it came to the colorizing of black and white film. Preservation of the art was his reason. The Original Trilogy should be treated no differently. It deserves the same respect as the black and white adventures the Trilogy was inspired by.
Mr. Lucas, I respect your position, but I cannot endorse the execution of that position based purely on the “because I can” defense. Please, allow a quality HD transfer of the 3 original movies that started it all so that everyone can revel in the spirit and joy that you and all involved carried to create something so proud.
Cheers
Too bad someone here with the resource to do it couldn't take a shot at this and give it a proper restoration......it would be nice to have.

I would suggest you try to download it again as the file may not have downloaded completely/correctly.austin_1138 said:
i downloaded it and when i tryed to unzip it it gave me an error and i couldnt extract it :(
I had this same issue. It said the zip was like 206 MB but the file it extracted was 0 MB....it may have been corrupted during upload too...I will try again as well.
Adywan my friend,
My sincerest thoughts are with you during this most difficult time. You've gone above and beyond to bring Star Wars edits ahead of their time and for that I know everyone whose enjoyed them is eternally grateful.
You do what you need to do and nothing less or more. We will all be here when you're back in full swing and we'll keep supporting you when you're not.
:)
I just noticed that the "Faces" made in Japan LD set that I bought is still sealed.....looks like they are gonna get broken in when the SIMA color corrector arrives.
;)
Apology added above..........again, I'm really sorry.
I guess you can tell I was a bit disappointed in the canceling/restarting/canceling again of JediTray's vinyl project....I saw the word "jedi" and got sorely confused..............and a little wild to boot.
Again, it was MY mistake. I have no ill will towards you at all DJ. I'm thinking that the Corellian Tie-Stick I bought isn't so good for medicinal purposes after all..........LMAO
My bad......................please accept my humblest apologies...........I am suffering from a pretty bad sinus infection....it is no excuse for sure, I am truly sorry.

Numark USB turntable
Um, if you would read the whole post, I stated that the Numark was a joke and I wasn't using one.
As for the project, it is dead. The equipment has been dropped off at UPS, the files deleted, and programs uninstalled. I had a feeling deep down that I wasn't 100% happy with it, and SJ's post just sealed the deal. Maybe I was expecting too much out of it, but it's done.
I'll leave these sorts of things to the professionals from now on.
Apologies to anyone that may have been following this. This is my last post in this thread.
You're right, I did misread, my mistake. You actually only mentioned DAK equipment and software and you mentioned a pre-amp mixer.....but nothing specific.
I still would never recommend a USB turntable but I also recommend taking a break from this to give you a breather and if you want to try again you may find yourself more prepared to give it another go.
Here's to hoping...........
In case there are those wondering.........

Don't cancel your project because of one constructive criticism.
This.
JediTray, this is why some of us gave you crap in your other thread. You can't just keep changing your mind over and over. It's frustrating for those who are interested in the project.
Agreed as a quality transfer of this material could help with numerous projects and be a source of audio entertainment for all who have been excited.
Numark USB turntable
In my own opinion, this is the main problem.
These USB turntables are designed for convenience and speed, not for quality. Maybe sending your vinyl out to someone here who has a more quality-minded set up would return more pleasing results?
I would never recommend a USB turntable to anyone wanting to enjoy their vinyl on CD, ever.
I hope this continues forward....I know these could sound awesome and I'd bet there is someone waiting to be asked or offer a hand to help make it available.
Cheers!!!!

I think learning this stuff is most of the fun.
Agreed. Some of what I've learned led me to this purchase....now I've got to figure out what it's capable of and how to best utilize it for LD transfers......
:)
I found another tidbit that stated using the s-video in and the composite out for captures produces a better picture.
I wish I was more fluent in all this stuff....it would certainly make it easier. It's a good thing for me that there is a section here just for this kind of thing.
;)
SIMA COLOR CORRECTOR PRO-SERIES MODEL SCC
Does anyone have any experience with this? Am I better off using it for my Panny DVD recorder or through my capture card for best results? I found only 1 article and it stated that these work quite nicely with a DVD recorder. With that said I guess I need to understand my LD's settings better when it comes to the V-DNR and whether or not to use it and which connection would be better suited....s-video or composite(which I know gives a cleaner picture than the s-video on playback). I believe this was the only model that had a composite connection and I got it for $35.00USD which wasn't bad. Thanks in advance.

I certainly hope Laserman is in a better place no matter where he is.
