Info: True Lies - Archival Project???
Time

I can only decode the audio reels separately, with either the 5 channel configuration or the 6 channel one (which includes the LFE).  Bringing all the WAV files together and synching them is not my forte.  I am only beginning to learn stuff about that.

Now, getting them out is a different story.  I would have to mail them to you as my free internet connection does not have enough umph for solid uploading.  If you are good with that pm me with your address so I can get things moving on my end.

:)

I'm going to be asking the moderators to close this thread so it won't get confused with the new one.  Dark_Jedi has taken the lead on this project and will be making sure people get updated as work progresses.

Thanks to everyone who participated here.  It lead to finding the best possible DTheater video source to work with.  Thanks to DoomBot for dropping by and giving the heads up.  Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions.  It may have been a short lived thread but something nice is going to be coming out of it.

Rock ON everyone .......

I'm in. Got the 22gb interlaced D-Theater (there's a 14gb reencoded version progressive removing the black bars). Any sync of the original DTS LD sound will be awesome.

Now that is the file I would want, can it be downloaded anywhere?

Thanks

Looks like rutracker has the 22gb 1080i file.

If you read Russian it's probably easy to find ....... LOL

I don't and it was easy to find.

Just use google chrome to translate the page to English.

What page is it on?  Since I'm not a member I have to search page by page.

Please remember that projects like these are a team effort and there is never an "I" in team.

I really hope this was not directed at me, I already know precisely what a Team is, I am a part of one, and a damn good one at that, so I certainly do not to be told things like this, if it was directed at me of course.

I hope this works out, but I guess we will see.

It is what I believe, not an insult directed at anyone.

Stamper, it would be awesome if you would contribute a copy of this for the project.  This matched with DTS cinema and LD audio would be most cool for everyone.

Like I said...the Blu-ray is supposed to be coming out this year. I'd wait before going through the trouble.

digitalfreaknyc,

Thanks for the possible heads up ..... it has been noted.  The DTheater version of this is probably not what were going to get with Blu if the color timing/audio remix past of Blu releases proves consistent.

Whomever is going to do the audio & sync to video should pm me for the files.  I will decode the reels so that they can be stitched together and synched to the film.  I would probably mail them as my free internet connection doesn't handle uploads well.  I won't have a solid connection again til sometime in June.

When it comes to decoding, I can do the straight 5 channel set up so one could make their own LFE or I can do 6 channel set up which includes an LFE.

This thread is to gauge interest & to gather all the available information on this film.  Nothing more.  If it doesn't fly, it doesn't fly.  I think at the least, some open discussion on it would be good and this way it won't clutter up the other thread.   I do realize that there is some possibility of a BD release but with the way BD releases have been handled it seems that they ruin a lot of people's hopes for a solid and untouched as possible viewing experience.

If there is enough interest, whomever is going to do the audio editing & synch to video should pm me for the audio files.  I will have to mail them as my free internet connection isn't solid.  I can decode in to a 5 channel setup or a 6 channel one which would include an LFE.

Please remember that projects like these are a team effort and there is never an "I" in team.  I have worked diligently to find audio people were wanting to work with and/or experience for the first time.  Everyone deserves common courtesy as we all have one goal, to create and archive, a really cool movie watching experience.

As always, suggestions and comments are welcome.

:)

In the DTS audio thread a few of us were chatting about a project that would marry the DTheater 14GB video with the DTS audio for the movie True Lies.

Dark_Jedi expressed interest in putting the two together if he had the audio/video to do it.  DVDMike, myself, borisanddoris are among the others who would like to see this happen as well.  The DTheater video presentation is very nice and worthy of some sweet audio options.  Considering the poor treatment movies like this are getting on Bluray we figured it would be worth the effort.

Is there any interest in it aside from the few of us?

DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress

Well I am not going to start a thread until I actually have what is needed, why start one if things end up getting messed up and we do not get the files we want to use? I would love to get the DTS tracks, Mikes video file, and a bit perfect LD rip of the PCM audio, then I would start a thread, but I personally won't start one until I know for sure it is a go.

Thanks

I didn't want to just assume anything considering you've said you and your team are rather busy with all the things you're working already.

What are the 3 new ones?

True Lies, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies .....

What how where when?? Did you manage to find the theatrical discs or extract the LD audio? This is exciting news, I've long wondered how the original tracks compared to their Dolby and remixed counterparts.

I just noticed that many on the first page are listed as found. Wow, this is really taking off.

Theatrical discs.  I have been lucky and thankful to have found the discs I have even though they don't usually come free.

Well it all just talk for now, I do not have either the video file or the DTS files, so hopefully when these show up, if they do, then we can start putting something together.

I just received the audio yesterday and no-one has asked for it.  There is an obvious interest in this project so when we get the details sorted I'll decode the audio and send it to whomever is going to be heading the project.

I think what Molly means is that perhaps it's easier to take a default or sort of standard audio track that is already synced to video (so the First Contact Blu-ray's audio) and sync the DTS Cinema rip to that.  Sync it to that, and it'll naturally sync to the video as well.  This is how I did it on Jurassic Park 3D and it worked pretty well and was easy.

As we know, the hard part with this DTS project is cutting and splicing the reels together.  I continue to try and teach myself how to do this.

Exactly.

That's how I do most of my synchs, and I've done a LOT.

I was hoping for more of a "this is what I do when I do it this way" explanation. :)

Well then, I guess I'm gonna have to learn that trick.  Right now, I am getting ready for a solid synching of DTS audio to DVD video as I had to sell my ST Bluray sets a ways back to help our move.  After Sound Forge I'm using Adobe Audition CS6 to separate them in to mono files before taking them in to the DTS-HD Master Suite for final preparation.

We will see what happens.  If one of you would like to shoot me a quick tutorial on synching the audio I'll gladly try it out.

Cheers!!!!

Finally got the Ronin BD which has a DTS hdma 5.1 track at LD bitrate. I figured since the transfer is outdated maybe it's just a copy of the theatrical/LD audio. There are some others like this, such as the German BD of The Shadow (which has an upcoming US BD release, likely with a remix).

I just added "The Shadow" to the list on page 1.  I have the 5.1 DTS and Stereo DTS versions.
