Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

I am excited about what I have seen from this project.  The care alone that you all are giving it is above and beyond what it's own creator even cared to give it.

What ever your final release path is will be most appreciated and enjoyed by me and I'm sure plenty others here feel the same.

Do what you need to do with the time you need to do it.  I'm thankful that the team keeps updates coming.  It really is a treat.

Thanks

For the record, I never flat-out claimed this was a hoax.  And neither has Frink.  The "proof" he was looking for is regarding whether or not -1 is still involved.  I just asked if anyone was going to bother exploring moth3r's claim that they could have been 2004 DVD color corrections; suffice to say, his later retraction satisfied me.

A little less snark all around would be nice.  I'm gonna keep my trap shut from here on out and keep the lolz to off-topic mocking.

The thread did not have to be hijacked for this to happen.  pm would have been just fine.  The "snark" here isn't limited to just one person.  I asked nicely for it to stop and it just kept moving.  I am just as thankful as the next person that this is being done but I don't need to know every private secret identity of the people involved to be thankful.  TeamBlu has silent members and no one hassles them on who is actually posting.  The mods can check IP addresses to see what's happening but to reveal it would not be ethical .... as Moth3r is well aware of this by his statement on the matter.

Fun is fine .... lolz are great when something is funny because it makes your day funny.  I have NO personal issue with anyone here.  It was just a bit of overkill for something so trivial.  I was tired of reading it and I spoke up, I am not ashamed to have done so.

If it were a hoax, explain the Cloud City scene that was just posted. I've been following this from the start, I was on the old private blog, I saw the behind-the-scenes footage (including monitor playback of footage from the final reels, with the same color fidelity as those stills), and this is definitely legit.

I saw that and was glad they posted it. Precisely what I wanted to see to silence the nay sayers (and I admit, silence the small part of me that was dreading this could have been a hoax): a 5 second clip that in the special editions was altered.

Now, let us sit back and appreciate the amazing work -1 are doing.

Amen.

Sorry then, my mistake ........

lol, question dodging

Read bkev's reason for editing in that post.  I agree, and that's what interests me.

Somethings are better left unsaid for anyone involved.  I would guess that if you all gotta have some type of physical proof then your queries might be better served via pm and kept there.

Just a suggestion.

I'm hoping for a BD50.  I'd have to compress the extras too much to make it all fit on a BD25.

I have a copy of the Rhino DVD coming now, so I can get the extra material off of that one.  I really wish I could get a hold of the original Japanese Laserdisc so I could get the original stereo sound mix off of it.

I've got the Rhino DVD ..... I love it.  I have the DVD release after that as well.  I believe it fixed the color timing issue.

Empire Strikes Back mono mix - GOUT sync & Comparison MP3 (Released)

First off, Bravo Mavimao ..... this will be a treat for sure.  Thank you to Puggo and CatBus as well for the work.

Any chance I could get a link for the DTS-HD?

The other question I had is this .... was there a lossless FLAC for the faux stereo mix?  That would be cool to have as well.

Thanks again for this treat.  I'm excited to take a listen.

:)

That's interesting about movies being delivered on HDDs. I had no idea that's how things were done nowadays. :)

I didn't know anything about it either until I read an article in my local newspaper about a month ago.

You see, I live in a small city in Sweden where we've had the same cinema running since 1940! It was rebuilt in 1989 though so since then everything has been very modern and pretty top notch, or so I thought. Next year, they will open a new cinema in my city with Sweden's largest projection screen and all new equipment. This means they will close the old one.

So the newspaper had interviewed a projectionist who had worked many years at our cinema and there were some photos of him with the harddrives, and he said that it's much easier than having to change film reels!

I guess the reason for the harddrives is also that digital cinema has a different colorspace than blu-rays and maybe 4K resolution too? Wouldn't fit on a disc.

Art Houses are probably the exception when it comes to actual film being played.  Most every other theater is doing digital and they are doing it this way.  It's been like this for awhile now here in the states.  35mm is out there but it is a tad dead to the industry that once supported it.  Winds of change I guess.  :(

That's a good assessment. But we will be using mostly the one in the lower left corner. There will be a blend of all the sources as different frames  have different amounts of damage.

We will be posting a scene of Luke and Yoda in the hut, which highlights the difficulty of integrating multiple sources for one scene.

We would like everyone to look closely at it, once posted.

Team Negative1

Even me?

Ahhhh the post stated everyone so If you're looking for a personal invitation just to sling more senseless nonsense I doubt it's coming any time soon.

As all the theatrical DTS preservations probably wouldn't have ever happened without that ancient Winamp plugin, I thought this was worth mentioning.

AOL is pulling the plug next month.

Sad to see it go but I am honored to have been able to use it for a variety of needs.  I will keep whatever old versions I have as one never knows when a need may arise.

We are currently working with providing Harmy with ESB clips.

Adywan, as soon as we can get those clips/pictures to you we will. There are still a few more steps to go with them.

As with any major project here on OT, we can see what Harmy, Adywan, and Dark Jedi have to go through, with being asked when a project will be done.

Our answer is simply this, as Adywan put it, 'It's done when its done'.

For those that wish to follow us as we chronicle this project, we will continue to post HD clips, and a lot more High Resolution pictures as Works in Progress.

Team Negative1

Thank you.

This is batshit crazy ...... and you thought my sense made no sense in the realm of all the sense here.

Says you.

It was the only reason I could think of that both accounts were being allowed to bend/break the rules.

I believe there may be more dual accounts here than any of us are aware of ...... says me.  :)
