There should be hundreds of members supporting Team Blu. This place doesn't know what a special privilege it is to have talented people like Team Blu putting out preservations that are in every way that matters, perfect.

I feel embarrassed on behalf of this place...my apologies Team Blu. For all the thankless hours Team Blu has spent on their work, thank you very much.

vbangle,

I have no issues with you but this post is entirely thoughtless and demeaning.  It suggests that hundreds of members have open bank accounts but that they are greedy.  This is so far from the truth.  Even DJ said he cannot afford to keep doing the dazzling packages they've been doing.  Heck, most of us weren't even able to get those pre-made and sent like others did.  We had to download them like the rest and enjoy.  Those of us with Blu-ray burners (not everyone has those because they can't afford them) are able to at least have physical discs but no artwork, case or printed discs.

As for the thankless hours you speak of, TeamBlu has gotten a plethora of thanks and great reviews on the work they've done.  You make it sound as if the thread is as bare as a wild west ghost town with only the tumble weeds a blowing.

In the end, I'm disappointed to see a member of ours sass everyone else without cause.  There were a small group of us who donated money to purchasing actual prints for poita to scan.  Those projects are going to be shared with everyone, regardless of whether they donated or not, and those of us who donated don't have issue with it.  Did you thank them?

If you want to come in riding a blame horse next time, you should inspect it first, just to make sure it's not dead like this one is.

Shawn

My sincerest apologies to the Team, I saw the post and I could not let it go unchallenged.  It is NOT meant in disrespect to you or anything you've done.

I buy the 50 disc spindles of BD25s for cheap with Optical Quantum BD25s so I'd be able to help others.

Correct me if I'm wrong but TeamBlu does not use cheap media for project purposes.  I believe DJ uses only 1 brand of disc and they are on the high end of the price range.  I have offered donations of lower end media for burning and was turned down so I don't think it's lack of trying for folks.  They just use materials that probably exceed most folks monetary level of donation.

In the end, it's probably better this way.  They can concentrate on what it is they've got planned and make it work with less stress.

I'm excited to see what's coming, when it comes, of course.

Cheers Team, do what ya gotta do.

Well, you guys kinda came out of the door running with all the extra's and such.  That does take a toll if only one person is on the monetary end of such projects.  Scaling back is a good idea.

On both sides of the donation chain, I can see it being tough, because depending on the quality of materials one may require .... the higher quality, the higher the cost.

A down side is that their usually won't be enough resource to make these special projects for each person who donates and it can be an unintentional side effect which no-one wishes to see.

I'm glad to know you all will still be doing what you're doing, just in a more reserved and paced stride.

I'm sure it will all work out for the best.

:)

Here is another 1080p sample from the very end of the movie. Just to change things up. Right before the credits.

Again, partial color correction has been done to it.

Note : There is quite a bit of damage on the far right hand side of the frame.

Team Negative1

Still, it looks far better than most anything available in the detail area.

Has one for Die Hard 1 been found yet? I am curious to know what that would sound like compared with the blu-ray.

Since the movie is a 1988 release it would not have DTS.  Now, if someone was able to capture the pcm from it and create a custom DTS track, you would at least get an idea of how it could sound.

ONLY movies after 1993 could have DTS.

:)

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I guess my confusion came from seeing that the releases on dvd had DTS mixes.

The LD/DVD DTS and cinema DTS are based on different codecs.

Cinema Cliche firsts

Here is a good one...

A cliche that has become very boring and overused of late is the "Mastermind villain allows themselves to be trapped inside a glass cell that they planned to escape from all along" cliche. The three most recent examples that I can think of are...

The Avengers 2012
Skyfall 2012
Star Trek Into Darkness 2013

...and they were copying the ridiculous success of 2008's 'The Dark Knight'. But surely Christopher Nolan couldn't be the first? 2003's 'X2' had the glass prison and the plan to escape but that's not the same as allowing yourself to be captured as part of your evil game of chess. Those pesky Greeks used an equine variant of this idea some 3 millenia ago but it was still not the same cliche that was used by Heath Ledger's Joker.

Any earlier examples than 2008? (There must be)

I'm guessing just by what you typed that variations on the theme are okay or are you specifically speaking about glass (no metal bars) cells only?

How is this project coming along?  AntcuFaalb are you doing all the cleanup work?  How long will this take?

The thread is pretty self explanatory.  It will take as long as it takes really as folks have lives outside of here though sometimes it seems otherwise.  LOL

Patience.  Just keep your eye on the thread.  Updates are fairly regular.

It's actually the 2010 LD box that has the prototype photos, it also has some of Octane, Metroplex, and Trypticon (although they of course don't appear in the movie).  They're nothing too special though.

They released an LD box set in 2010?

Edit:

Never mind, I see it's called that due the Japan only 3rd season of G1.

Fine but you are still off topic.

Does a fan made copy exist? Yes or no.

I'm working on an on/off project to insert any and all deleted  footage into ANH to make an aproximation of the lost workprint. Here is a bit of old and rough workprint footage (From 6 months ago) of the first 15 minutes...

https://vimeo.com/72365782

It's got all the Biggs footage (Amongst other things) in context, if you just want to see how it plays out. It's all in B&W though.

(I think I've since scrapped it all and started again LOL)

I agree, that's pretty damn cool.

The show was great, lots of information!

Any way to find that information now? It was the middle of the night for me and, unfortunately, I couldn't afford to be awake.

Assuming the above isn't just code for "mverta showed everyone his big R2D2" which I deem entirely possible after reading the last few pages of this thread.

I was there for the whole 2 hours.  Had you not had to sleep, you would have too.  Mike was candid, he shared some stories as well as talked about and showed some examples of how things work with his process.

He did NOT pull out his unit to flaunt on the video screen.
