Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

Okay, now I can review .....

Out of both movies, Star Wars OT is the best improvement hands down.  My happiness was gauged by the inclusion of DTS for both films.

The SE Star Wars was a bit diffused in a fair amount of places.  It was most apparent in the Jundland Wastes sequence.  The initial pan-down in to the valley did not fair well at all in motion.  It continued all the way up to R2 getting nabbed by the Jawas.  I was glad to see that Mos Eisley was no longer that pink shade which has troubled most home video releases of it.

The menus were a nice treat.  They added a special touch to the discs.  The artwork was nice.  A little under-done in my opinion but great for ink savers.  In the info file, Silverwook and his invisible donator should get credit as they were the ones who passed the ANH/ROTJ DTS discs on to me for decoding.  ESB was acquired by myself afterwards to complete the set.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at what was accomplished with the source material.  Certainly an upgrade from what they were beforehand.

Thanks to TeamBlu for taking it on.  You achieved some nice results here.

Back on topic hopefully .....  I just had my first "check" and it was clean.  Colon cancer runs in my family and I have Diverticulosis so this was certainly good news.  I get a 5 year break before the next one so I just gotta remember to keep a good fiber intake and to stay properly hydrated.

:)

Diverticulosis is the most hardcore bowel issue to suffer from. You're in good company.

Scary thing is, if left untreated, it could be terminal.  I try hard to balance my diet with fiber and water to keep things flowing.  The foods I have to watch out for I eat in moderation if I like.  Keeps me smiling.

Quietly speaks opinion on TB post ..... I don't find his words anymore rude than some of our own here.

Do the screen shots look pretty much the same as yours Shawn?

I sure can't wait for this to hit blu-ray, as long as it's the special edition.

The hdclub i think it ends up being just over 13gb with all the Russian audio removed.

I will check Kev and get back to you guys.

:)

Jedit:

I hate to disappoint but I have the Japan broadcast (BS-i) logo up in right hand corner.  Sorry.

I've only seen the Theatrical Cut being discussed, otherwise it was a dated Japanese master.

Apparently so ..... a Cinemax broadcast.  Might be just Theatrical though.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Time

Last week I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier @ the Majestic Theater in Brookfield, Wisconsin.  The screen alone was 3 times the size of the normal theater I go to and I sprung for the 3D.

I have to say I loved the movie immensely.

The only set of these movies that I haven't been thrilled with is the Iron Man series.  Thor has been top notch.  The Avengers too.  Spiderman ..... meh.

Maybe Guardians of The Galaxy and Avengers 2 will move things along better.

Out of interest, was anyone ever able to pick up Steve Johnson's Abyss DVDs?  There's some clips on YouTube, and links to his site when he was selling it, but the site has been completely re-designed now, and there is no links to the DVDs anymore.  Nothing shows up on eBay, it's like they were never released.

Were they pulled by Fox?

There is rare occasion where something might need to be liberated that I would consider a purchase, but it doesn't come often.

If there are no links anymore I'd bet he may have been getting more notice than wanted or he was sent the "letter" by Fox.
