Is there a chance that some of you have the UK-only version of Star Trek 4? The version which was called “The Voyage Home : Star Trek” and has unique opening credits (and possibly other unknown changes)? Cause I would LOVE to see it.

Also, any chance you have the VHS version of Star Trek 6? I have it myself but I have no chance how to digitize it anymore and that cut wasn’t released anywhere else as far as I know.

I personally, do not own any PAL VHS material, sorry.

The ones I have still sealed are: TWOK (Special Collector’s Edition and Widescreen), TVH, TUC, Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection.

As for the home video version of The Undiscovered Country, it will be part of this project.

Thanks for the offer Colson. Hold on to that thought just in case.

As for the other films, I’m doing Widescreen only releases, because I do enjoy the letterboxed look. Now I know these are on LD too but if I’m even going to consider doing those at one point (just for nostalgia) these will be my v.1 for lack of a better descriptor.

The ones I have still sealed are: TWOK (Special Collector’s Edition and Widescreen), TVH, TUC, Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection.

I am on the look out for TSFS from the Special Collector’s Edition series and the missing ones in Widescreen (hopefully sealed).

Hardware to be used:

Panasonic AG1980 SVHS
Panasonic DRM-EA18 DVD Recorder (for filter)
Dazzle 100 USB capture device

Capture Software:

VirtualDub

Okay,

This has been and is more of a personal project really but I wanted it to have it’s own thread in case people are willing and want to offer suggestions to help me along.

Why Star Trek movie VHS?

Well, I have the DC and the (Special Collector’s Series) SLV,and I wanted to make a 2 disc DVD set out of them for posterity. I also have a few others sealed and want to archive them as well.

In the Star Trek HD Caps thread, some others expressed interest in maybe wanting these as a throwback because this is how they were used to seeing them until the DVD’s arrived. In the end I guess it’s just a retro project that may only appeal to a small group.

I am going to be going from VHS to PC via VirtualDub and Dazzle USB capture device. I will send the picture through my Panasonic DMR-EA18 DVD burner to make use of it’s comb filter. I want to have the LPCM audio for these as it could be useful for other projects … maybe even if it’s just to sync audio.

Please feel free to share suggestions or thoughts on these VHS tapes … every little bit helps. I will do my best to at least post a few screen shots here and there so people can at least see how they look. I will also be learning GIMP so I can make my own custom artwork for these. I am considering just doing Bluray cover art for these as the cases are smaller and would fit nicely against the other Star Trek blurays.

Thanks in advance for allowing me to share this little journey as it is a personal first for me.

Cheers!!!

Movies aren’t real. I have no problem with someone getting fake bitten in half, I don’t want to see it for real.

Real stuff happens too. I was a Surgical Tech in the Army. I’m sure I saw stuff that would probably make you reconsider at least half the stuff you’ve probably done in your life and maybe even half the stuff you’re still thinking about doing.

Info: Evil Dead (2013) - Extended Cut
Time

From the article:

“[The ‘Evil Dead’] extended cut will come out on blu-ray. Just a few hours ago we talked about the study and it seems that Halloween will be available,” Alvarez tells the site. An extended version aired in the UK back in early 2015 but was a mistake as the distributor apparently sent the wrong master for broadcasting purposes.

This is exciting news as fans have been wanting an extended version ever since the film came out and it looks like now it’s going to happen! We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for an official announcement with a release date.

I’m guessing here but since this UK version is now out in the wild, he was probably money motivated to change his original decision, seeing how popular it really is.

It’s $3 for 3 days of usenetserver.com. I think that’s how most of us got them. I believe they even give you a free 1 day trial the first time you use them. 10 MB/s for me there.

Best of luck. I’m certainly not going to be uploading them anywhere while they’re still available by those means. If people are struggling to find these next year, we should make sure they’re preserved. But for now I think I’m just going to point my finger to where they are easily found. 😃

This is how I got them as well. usenetserver.com was the best way to go for the price and for getting uploads that were so old. I’ve kept mine safe since I snagged them way back when too.

Does anyone have the 1989 Japanese Laserdisc it has the stereo track. If so great would someone check it to see if the audio is better? If know one on here has it would you look in to getting it. I know its a lot of money but i don’t have a laserdisc player and i wouldn’t be able to do it. Even if i did i still wouldn’t be able to because i also don’t have a blu ray drive.

You can always buy it and send it to someone who can transfer it.

Wow, it is quite a difference. How do you know he didn’t originally start off as pinkish tho? Could have been revised for the VHS release and tv series.

I thought about this as well. Considering it’s a cartoon that promoted a toy line his on screen color isn’t horrible but if he can be made red “like the toy” and the film can have some added lossless audio, I’d be down.

Just encoded this again and preparing it for upload. Gonna be uploading it to Dropbox instead, just got a Pro account, so PM me in around 24 hours if you’re interested.

Mentioned it before but if anyone wanted this on Myspleen, someone else would have to upload it there as I can’t get my connection open for seeding with this setup.

You have a pm.

I think you might have Asperger’s, or some other high-functioning form of autism. This is not meant to be an insult or slight against you, simply an observation. Your posts can be a little annoying, but not enough to take any effort to actively dislike you.

Yeah, I’ve thought about this before but I didn’t want to say it for fear of being rude. It seems like yhwx takes things very literally even if they’re clearly a joke, he seems very fascinated with “crunching the numbers,” and he has one-sided conversations (namely the Mac or PC and Anime threads, where it’s very clear that everyone else is just taking the piss). I mean absolutely no disrespect, but this is just what I’ve seen.

Since I’m no physician I cannot say one way or the other. What I can say as a regular person is that “bandwagon posts” are in no way indicative of such a thing. People with Asperger’s as I know it are very singular personalities. I believe yhwx is just looking to find his place here and it can be tough. I know.
