Can you imagine Han fighting Luke, that is what the duel in ROTS should have felt like.
Time
IMO, there are reasons why (at least IMO) the best SW films are Empire, Star Wars and Sith (in that order). The reason is this: for those 3 films there was a sense of urgency to get the films done right. I mean, GL was hospitalized over the stresses of the first film, and Empire had to be a success to make Star Wars a saga. Most sequels at that point were critical and financial bombs. If Empire had been Jaws 2, Psycho 2 or Rocky 2, the saga would have been over right there. When they were making Jedi, Menace and Clones all were LOCKS to be blockbusters. I think there was some urgency again for Sith after the general consensus was that the first two prequels were disapointing.

I just think GL got too complacent with SW for a while and stress/no guarantee of success always seemed to make GL work harder.

LOL!

Did you see dead riners? where they had GL saying: I've stoped changing my old movies, now I'm changed other peoples old movies! Then they had Jar Jar in pysco and a new cgi horse head in the godfather.

Where would I find this? That sounds hillarious@

Imagine the trend George Lucas could start. If other studios, producers and directors followed Georgie Boy, we might mind up seeing these changes:

The Wizard Of Oz
-an entirely cgi background would replace the outdated, but classic painted scenery.
-the black and white Kansas scenes would be colorized since the current generation isn't capable of understanding why Kansas is black and white and Oz is in color
-new cgi Munchins would sing a hip hop version of "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"

Gone With the Wind
-The line "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn", would be changed to, "You think I give a sh*t?!"
-The line "I don't know nothing bout birthin babies" would be replaced by "I don't know f-ing squat about delivering babies!"

every hand drawn Disney animated classic would be completely redone with CGI animation

Back to the Future Trilogy
-Elizabeth Shue would be inserted in the first film, since a different actress played her character in the first film
-when the Delorian hit 88 miles per hour, new explosion rings would accompany the car travelling through time
-Crispin Glover (George McFly) would magically be inserted into the 2015 scenes in part 2. Since he didn't appear in the sequels, they had to carefully disguise his replacement (who hung upsidedown in the future scene). With the magic of technology, George would now be upright and played by Glover.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
that classic scene that Harrison Ford improvised where the guy is swinging his sword at Jones and then Indy just shoots him, would be changed. The man would be digitally replaced by a guy who would shoot first, right before Jones kills him.

Mary Poppins
Disney remake queen Lindsay Lohan would be digitally insterted as Mary Poppins. Julie Andrews would then sue the pants off of Disney.

If George had only changed Special effects for the SE and DVD, would people have complained as much?
Time
I agree that the special effects changes that didn't really affect the pacing or plot of the movie are the only decent changes. Some, however really did disrupt the flow. Here's how I divide them up...

Good Special effects changes
-the moving Dewbacks.
-the enhanced shots of the Jawas transport moving
-The fighters taking off for the battle of Yavin
-intro to Mos Eisley (except for the begining with those annoying whinny robots, that part did change the pace)
-The cgi Wampa
-enhanced Cloud city
-herd of Banthas on Tatooine
-enhanced Sarlaac pit
-enhanced explosions

BAD BAD BAD special effects changes
-CGI Jabba. The scene sucks and Han's "you're a wonderful human being" line just sounds silly. Talk about disrupting the flow
-Greedo shooting first (well, duh)
-the extended clips of Vader's shuttle flying towards the Executer. George- that was not your movie and you should NOT have changed the pacing of Kershner's movie!!!! I just HATE this change.
-cgi Sy Snootles. What was the point of doing that when the most of the other creatures in the palace remained in their original puppet/dude in costume form? It's just pointless and it clashes with the whole scene
-Hayden in Jedi

Time
I have a feeling that if the only changes that had been made to the original trilogy were special effects there wouldn't have been as much complaining. The number one reason GL made the special edition in the first place was to update some of the special effects that couldn't be created back in the 70's and 80's.

What if George only changed the special effects, but still had Han shoot first, Vader say "bring my shuttle", Shaw at the end of Jedi, Lapti Nek and Yub Yub in Jedi, no Jabba scene in SW, no new voice for Boba Fett, the original Emperor in Empire, no extra Biggs scene before the Battle of Yavin, etc etc. These seem like the biggest complaints from fans including myself.

I really don't think fans would have complained as much if the only changes had been the updated special effects in spots. As long as the cgi didn't change any of the storyline or pacing of the films, I don't think fans would be so annoyed. I also think it was ridiculous for George to change more than the special effects, because all of that goes against his original vision garbage. If his original vision was to have Greedo shoot first or to have a different song in Jabba's palace and in the celebration, those things would never have made the films to begin with!

Agree? Disagree?

Yes, Qui-Gonn was the biggest mistake that GL made. How much better would Menace be if Obiwan was the Master, Qui-gon was the apprentice who is killed by Darth Maul, and then Anakin became Obiwan's new apprenctice at the end of Menace. It would make a LOT more sense! I think that's the biggest reason why Menace is my least fave SW.

Parody: Extended versions of classic SW scenes
Time
This could be fun. I'll start with the banquet scene on Cloud City:

Vader
We would be honored if you would join us

Lando
I had no choice, they arrived right before you did. I'm sorry.

Han
I'm sorry too.

The captured Rebels enter the dining hall and sit down at the table. Chewie sits next to Vader, while Han and Leia sit next to Boba Fett. Lando sits on Leia's other side.

Han
So, Darth, how do you eat with that mask on?

Vader
I'll show you.

A small compartment at the bottom of the mask opens. Vader begins to eat.

Han
Very nice.

Vader
Thank you. It's very practical.

Vader reaches for a plate with some kind of meat entre. An angry Chewbacca growls.

Vader
What do you want you disgusting ape?

Chewbacca
Raaahhhhh rahrhahahahahah rrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Vader
To bad, I got it first.

Han
Let him have it, it's not wise to upset a Wookie.

Vader
It's even dumber to upset a Sith lord.

Han
I see your point sir. Chewie, I suggest a new strategy, don't piss off the Sith.

Chewie
Raaahhhhhhh!!!!

Leia
Hey, stop it Lando!

Lando
Stop what?

Leia
Playing footsy with me under the table.

Han
Lando!!!

Lando
Sorry.

Suddenly Boba Fett takes off his mask and begins to eat.

Vader
Dude, you look just like the Clones. How cool is that? Hey, stormtroopers. Take off your masks.

the stormtroopers guarding the dining hall obey their master, revealing they all have the same look.

Han
I think I'm losing it.

Lando
Hey, Chewie, can you pass the salt?

Chewie
Raaaahhhhhhhh!

He violently throws the salt at Lando, barely missing his head.

Vader
Nice throw Wookie. The Emperor would love to have your services.

An angry Chewie grabs Vader by the throat. Within two seconds, Vader uses the force, escapes from Chewie's grasp and begins to force choke him for a few seconds.

Vader
Don't mess with the Master, Wookie.

He releases Chewie who then hisses at the Dark Lord. A few seconds later, Lando screams in pain, having just been kicked by Leia.

Leia
That's what you get for playing footsy with me.

Vader
This meal has gone far enough. Stormtroopers, please take these rebels away. One more minute and I'm going to get indigestion!!!

The stormtroopers lead the rebels out of the room.

Vader
Oy vey!

How George would write the OT if he wrote them now
Time
That Captain Needa scene is hillarious. Here's another one......

A new scene for A New Hope inserted right after R2 has been captured by the Jawas.

INT- Senate Meeting Room - Coruscant

Members of the Imperial Senate meet with Emperor Palpatine

Senator Oogabooga floats on his platform thingy to state his case. The Emperor is also at the center of the room.

Oogabooga
Emperor Palpatine, it is with great concern that we address you on this very occasion. It has occured to the members of the galactic Senate that our role in the galactic Empire has dwindled. We wish to have a greater say in intergalactic matters, trade routes, galactic business and affairs, as well as taxation in the third rim of the second planet of the Nantadoin system.

Palpatine
Senator Booga, while I have great respect for your views on these galactic issues, I have decided that the Imperial Senate will no longer exist.

Loud gasps are heard throughout the room

Nuke Gunray
Empuhrah Palpatine thees ees an outrage!!!

Many members of the senate begin to yell and scream

Palpatine
Order! Order! Silence. If you will not shut up, you will be destroyed!

He shoots Gunray will force lightning. Suddenly the room has fallen silent.

Palpatine
You have paid for your lack of vision! Your feeble political skills are no match for the dark side!

Gunray
I am so sorry my Lord. Please stop! You are the greatest man who ever lived.

The Emperor stops shooting bolts at the pathetic Senator.

Palpatine
Any further comments

Jar Jar Binks
Mesa hasa someting to say!

Palpatine
And what would that be my little floppy friend?

Jar Jar Binks
Well, mesa wanna knowsa, whesa me gonna go live? Now dat mesa unemployed, me have nosa way to suportsa meself.

Palpatine
Don't worry. Every former Senator will be generously compensated by the Empire for your service. Within two weeks, every one of you will be taken care of. Now then, the Imperial Senate is officially dissolved. You may all leave. Thank you all for your service. However, it is critical that I fully sieze control of the Empire in order for my fully armed Battle Station to become operational by the deadline. You are all dismissed.

Of the six Star Wars movie which is your LEAST favorite?
Time

Don't be too harsh on me but to me the worst out of the six is a toss up between AOTC and .... EMPIRE!

To me, Empire is the least watchable in the series. I find it to be repetitive (did we really need to see the MF's hyperdrive fail three times?) and the editing is confusing. Are we to believe that Luke was trained in two days time? Luke's training is intercut with the misadventures of the Millenium Falcon, which appears to last approximately 48 hours at most. The most enjoyable part to me is the confrontation between Vader and Luke. I think it is the best saber fight in the original trilogy and of course, the huge plot device that was revealed helps. I have seen Empire the most out of all six, which doesn't help either. AOTC is a much lesser film than Empire in many ways, but AOTC is still fresh to me (I have watched it less than 5 times, including the Magnolia edit). If given the choice between the two, I'd certainly pop in AOTC first.

I don't see how Luke's short time on Daghobah training with Yoda is unrealistic when it was supposed to be rushed. I mean, it's not like he was that much of a better Jedi when he ran off the cloud city. Vader kicked his butt in that duel. Heck, Luke gained a LOT more of his Jedi skills BETWEEN MOVIES then he did during any of them. In the original Star Wars, he has like one short lesson and by Empire, he's considerably stronger. And then by Jedi, with no additional training, Luke is 10 times more powerful than he was in Empire (and Yoda claims he needs no more training, even though in Empire, he insists he needed it).

Also, I am so glad that Empire shows us what Jedi training is all about. We get just a teeny peak at that in Star Wars, but by Jedi, Luke is practically a full fledged Jedi (did he get the Jedi training manual) and in the prequels, all of Anakin's training is done BETWEEN movies. To me, that makes Empire a superior film, because they SHOWED. In most of the other films they TOLD.

I find Menace to be the least watchable. It's soooooo boring, slow, and confusing. There's nothing entertaining about it to me and I think the action scenes don't work because it's all razzle dazzle, but there's no emotion tied to it because the characters are so ininteresting.
