I’m worried about the rise of genuine White Nationalism that’s occurred while people were worrying about “SJWs”. I mean real White Nationalists, not some redneck asshole down the street that goes to Klan meetings every weekend but doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground; but the people who are creating and citing studies that “prove” black people have a lower IQ, or are inferior in some other way; young people who know how to speak convincingly and how to pull people to their side. It seems to me that young people are becoming more and more extreme on each side of the political spectrum, and that probably has something to do with growing up in the internet age. It’s allowed these ideas to grow in isolated settings, where they aren’t ‘softened’ by discourse with opposing ideas. I really hope that these ideas stay fringe and confined to the internet and the public discourse doesn’t become Communists vs Nationalists again; it didn’t work out so well the last time.

New Blade Runner 2049 trailer.

Not a fan of this trailer. Firstly, why the hell does this trailer start with a 5 second trailer for itself?

I’m not averse to action at all, but the action scenes presented in the trailer seem fundamentally un-Blade Runner. I think that’s partly due to the way the trailer was edited. This trailer is trying to market the movie as an action film for mainstream audiences, so it follows the mainstream trailer formula. It’s always a landscape shot or two, someone talking (sometimes to another person), action clips with overbearing drums, repeat ad infinitum.

The cinematography is gorgeous and the soundtrack is killer, though.

Discuss upcoming movies; or don’t, I can’t force you.

Most often it refuses to open.

I have the same problem. Not necessarily with it refusing to open; but every few months, Chrome starts to crap out. And the specific issue it’s having is never the same, it switches itself up every time. I remember one time Chrome would instantly close when I tried to open it. A friend of mine has this problem as well.

Warbler mentioned something that I want to touch on too. Colorblindness should be everyone’s goal. If nobody even gave a thought to people’s color, then humanity would be better off. I don’t see why that’s now racist to say, but I’m never going to stop saying it.

Yes, it should be everyone’s goal. But until we have equality, we can’t just pretend there aren’t problems, and saying “I’m colorblind” signals that to other people. We have to see color until seeing color is no longer necessary.

I believe the idea is that everyone being truly “colorblind” would get rid of those problems.
