https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/1/18/16905794/marijuana-legalization-polls

Only 16 percent of Americans favored keeping the current policy. About 29 percent backed only medical legalization, 5 percent backed decriminalization, and 49 percent backed full legalization. The remaining 1 percent were not sure.

Even among Republicans, who tend to be more conservative on drug policy issues, current federal marijuana law fared poorly: Only 25 percent of Republican voters supported keeping the policy as is, 36 percent backed medical marijuana, 2 percent backed decriminalization, and 36 percent backed full legalization. The majority of Republican voters were for some form of legalization — medical or recreational.

And the great majority of voters oppose current federal marijuana law. This kind of result — 83 percent of Americans choosing anything but a current policy — is exceedingly rare in any kind of polling.

Those are insane numbers. 83%!

Well said, ender.

Particularly how certain views take on a popularity that shuts out dissent.

As for ignoring important issues, this caught my eye.

If the Republicans want me to judge them fairly, they need to stop supporting Trump.

ender’s point that I agree with goes far beyond treating Republicans fairly. It’s about debating global warming, net neutrality, religious practices, abortion, feminism, etc. I care about that more than a hang up with a particular politician.

America elected Trump. I have problems with him as you all seem to. But the idea that fairness is dead unless we eject the president from office is absurd.

Sorry but it is the way I feel. I can be fair and debate with you and Ender. But I refuse to be fair and refuse to debate with those that still support Trump. This has nothing to do with whether or not Trump has small hands, whether or not he and his wife share a room, whether or not his Vice President calls his wife “mother”, wears cheap deodorant, or picks his nose. This has to do with Trump being a complete and total disgrace to this nation and its history. Everyone that supports him and everyone that voted for him should be ashamed of themselves. You want to support conservative viewpoints? Fine. You want to support Trump, not fine.

My last post on the matter: Hate Trump! That’s fine! I don’t like him either! But hate him because he’s a disgrace, not because he picks his nose. Hate him because of his misogyny, not because he only brushes his teeth once a day. Hate him for his policies, not his quirks. Hate him because of his decisions, not his unique preferences. Hate him for his words, not his idiosyncrasies. That is my point!

But I’d also argue it’s okay to make fun of him because he picks his nose. He’s Donald J. Trump; he should be able to handle it. People made fun of Obama’s brown suit. That’s okay too, in my opinion.

That was a nice suit, he wore it well.

Can we please stop talking about Obama’s suit and get back to the important issues like Mike Pence’s non-wives?

Pence has a wife? I thought that was his mother.

There are authoritarians on both sides.

My real point, however, is that I am very pro-life, and I don’t much care for the oversimplified mischaracterizations I’m reading thus far.

Sure. I guess all I’m saying is that I wish those who considered themselves to be “pro-life” were pro-life in all aspects. It seems to me that there is a certain group of people that are very concerned with the life of a fetus before it’s born, but once it is born, they’re on their own. That fetus can grow up and be drafted into an unjust war, or go bankrupt over medical expenses; that’s all just fine.

Also see the March for Life!

Good to see that the right is finally supporting universal healthcare an ending the wars! Oh…

Yeah, those darn Republicans! How dare they value different things from Democrats!

That’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is that “pro-life” is a clever misnomer.

I suppose “pro-choice” would be equally clever, given the Left’s tendency infringe on individual rights.

Who are the people banning weed? Who are the people that want to ban transgender people from serving in the military? Who are the people that want the travel ban? It’s not the right, it’s not the left; it’s the people up here:

To Canon or Not To Canon...
Time

I follow the official canon, for the most part, but in a bit of a looser way. I consider events to be canon, I’ll pick and choose the details of those events as I see fit. For example, I think that the ROTS novelization tells its story better than the movie, but in the end its still telling the same story; so I consider both to be canon.

If a “fan theory” comes around that explains something inconsistent or otherwise wrong in a satisfactory way, I’ll usually accept it as canon as well.

We don’t need to have everything explained by the film. There are other non-film sources with which to draw on for relevant information to people who would care.

Those other sources aren’t canon.

Actually, yeah, they are. Unless they were published before the Legends EU rebranding.

I am pretty sure the novels are not canon. If they are, explain the differences between the novels and the movies.

The novels are canon - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon#2014_reboot

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_canon_books#js

well dialogue in the novelizations of the movies better match with the movies word for word or you’ve inconsistency. If the dialogue differs what did the character say, what is written in the book or what is said in the movie?

example ROTJ

in the book the Emperor says “Your puerile skills are no match for the power of the dark side”

in the movie the Emperor says “You feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side”

yet both sources are canon. So which did the emperor say?

I believe Pablo said everything is canon except for what directly conflicts with the movies. If the movie dialogue differs from the novel dialogue, the movie’s dialogue would be canon; that said, a whole book can not be discounted as “non-canon” just because of one disparity. An explanation of how a force ability works will almost certainly be canon.

It’s the best source to hear about new Blu-ray releases.

Stop it.

I don’t get why this is either funny or offensive.

But I also don’t get why one would have a Facebook account with no facebook friends, considering the point is really to know what generally is going on with people.

I did at one point.

Otherwise your News Feed is only full of posts from Liked pages like Adywan’s SW Revisited group.

That’s the idea. I don’t really care that someone I hardly know went to the beach, I’d much rather just follow pages that I’m interested in.

Apparently having friends added is now a requirement to using the site. Bullshit.

Wait… do you not have any friends?

Nope. My real-life friends don’t use Facebook, and I don’t really get the point of having a bunch of acquaintances added.
