The spinoffs blow compared to the original (especially Voyager & Enterprise), and I grew up during the TNG "explosion" in the early 90's.

Does anyone remember when SciFi was running uncut "Special Editions" of TOS in the US? They were about 1 1/2 hours long with additional cast & crew interviews, etc. Was on around 97-98. Great stuff. Then they screwed it up and yanked it from the schedule.

Honestly, I almost never use any section of this site but Off Topic anymore. General Starwars is a mess, OT vs SE is played out, and I'm not into fanedits or preservation.

This is quite true, Chalts. Can't remember the last time I posted in the other forums. Off-topic is my bookmark, which is sad. However, I totally believe what J has said, in that the other forums are more active than Off-top.

Anyone play the original Master of Orion? It was a DOS based game that was a space colonozation deal. Very, VERY addictive. You got to choose your race from many different ones, each having their own attributes, etc. Then you had to manage your spending on tech, defense, spying, and such. The graphics were not very good but man the stuff they let you do in game play was hands down the best at the time. Spent months playing that game.

EDIT: Wiki on the game -

Rome: Total War is the first game in a looooong time that's hooked me. I played that game for weeks. Medieval: Total War 2 is coming out this month, I believe, and that will be one I snatch up big time.

Other than that, Call of Duty is cool, although too easy, and Unreal Tournament '04 is hands-down the best FPS I've ever played, and I've been playing them since the original Doom.

Civil War Delayed Big Time-

I'm a Marvel newb, to tell the truth. I've only been reading their stuff for about 2 1/2 years now. I love it. I think their art is outstanding, and the stories good. I've always heard about problems in their "event" series and such, but never paid it any heed.

This IRKS me:

Civil War Delayed

This series is very good, and I've been picking up many of the tie-ins, but now I've even got to wait for those. Boo I say! Boo and Hiss!

Back In Town
Time
Hello Everyone.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm back from my leave of absence. I see some things have changed, especially recently. I hope that the storm dies down, and that, in the words of that felon Rodney King, we can "...all just get along".

I got spanked in the OT.Com chess tourney, and I'm hoping maybe we can start a live version, not just correspondence. PlayChess.com is cool, but you have to pay to get a username. Yahoo might be a good choice.

Anyhoo, drop me a note if you want. I'm happy to be back.

May the Force be with Us...

Leaving for a While
Time
To my friends at the OT.com site:

I'm going to be leaving for now. I've got many, many things to do in my personal life as of late, and sadly I can't stick around much any more. I'm hoping this won't be a permanent absence, but one never knows in this day and age.

I will be finishing my chess games in the OT.Com tourney and posting the results.

It's been a hell of a ride since I joined up, and I'm ecstatic that we're getting our beloved OOT on dvd soon. I hope to return in time to discuss it with you.

Keep the faith, May the Force be with You, and keep it real.

To my debating opponents/partners:

Remember, diabetes isn't caused by soda alone, and carcinogens are everywhere, not just cigarette smoke...

I have an idea - let's kill EVERYBODY.

Hooray for large-scale manslaughter!

All we need is a nuclear war!

Woo hoo!

Then we can play that scene of Jeff Goldblum bitching about it in ID4 on continual loop...

"Maybe if we screw this planet up enough, they won't want it anymore!"

Huuhhhh! I'm sorry it had to go there but you're probably right!

I would be for anarchy if ALL citizens were armed. An armed society is a polite society. It would be a necessity also to defend against invaders.

Then you would pretty much have a Mad Max/Escape from NY scenario. The streets would be like Quake 3 maps.

I've heard this many times when "concealed carry" laws have been debated in this country, and it's been shown time and time again that in areas where people can carry guns on their person the crime rate has DROPPED.

An armed society is a polite society? Please explain that logic!

It's the same logic that says the mere presence of a gun means someone will pick it up and use it illegally!

I hardly belive being polite has anything to do with shooting people!

It's called a metaphor, Ric. It means that violent criminals (rich ones as well as "poor" ones) are less likely to attack someone who may be armed.
