Greedo in theaters
Time
Okay, a good friend of mine who is also a Star Wars fan says that Greedo was not in Episode 4 when it was shown in theaters, and then was added later when the OT VHS and LD came out.

Neither of us were alive back in 1979, so neither of us really know for sure. But he says he read it in some book...

We've been arguing about this, because I can't picture a Star Wars without Greedo and I'm sure I would have read or heard something about this, being a member of OT.com.

So, basically, can anyone who actually saw the movie in theaters comfirm for me whether or not Greedo was in the movie way back when it was in theaters?

why do people like boba fett?
Time
He's like Darth Vader only 10 times cooler. His armor his cooler, he's so evil that Darth Vader has to specifically tell him not to kill Han and company, his voice his completely badass (untill they fucking changed it) and he's like Darth Vader orginally was... Remember back when you didn't know that Darth Vader was Luke's father, and the mystery surrounding him was part of what made him so cool? Yeah, Boba Fett had that... untill they raped it in Episode 2.

Also, he was the very first Star Wars action figure I ever had... I had that figure before I even knew what Star Wars was, and it's still in my collection today.

In's just a matter of opinion though, like everything else. If you don't like him, it doesn't matter... But you don't need to complain about other people liking him.

-edit-
Oh yeah, and if you actually think he doesn't do anything, then read some of the EU stuff. He does so many awesome things...

Classic OT covers
Time
If you're going to make more covers, it'd be awesome to get a pre-ANH one as Neil said, but also a Holiday Special one, a set for the official PT and then a set for the MagnoliaFan edits... I'd really like getting all my DVDs into covers that match. And your's are really awesome. Oh, and it'd be cool to get some kind of "Bonus Material" cover.

-edit-
What's your email address? I'd really like getting the full-res versions of these covers.

Things you DID NOT like about Episode III
Time
There's a difference between things that actually made the movie bad, and things that you're just complaining about because you didn't like the movie. most the stuff on his list was fine, if that's his opinion... But some things were just dumb and he didn't need to list them.

Why should it matter if Vader killed Jedi before or after he got his suit? And why would people wielding lightsabres with one hand have any effect on the movie?

It's obvious he's just trying to pull excuses out of his ass just so he can make it sound worse than it actually was. I'd be fine if he listed valid reasons, but really... I doubt some of those things actually took away from his movie experience.

Fett's "Death" in ROTJ
Time
Maybe, at the end of RotJ when all the happy music is playing and it goes from planet to planet showing people celebrate, it could go to the Sarlaac and we could see Dengar helping Boba Fett! That would be awesome! I seriously doubt Lucas would do it though...

But, anyone who wants to get the full story of how Boba Fett got out needs to get the books Tales from Jabba's Palace and Tales of the Bounty Hunters. If you read through both of those, you'll get the complete story.

Kam, most of your reasons are pretty dumb reasons. I mean, you have a few up there that make sense, and you have a few up there that are just personal opinion... But I mean, you listed things like "wielding Lightsabres with one hand" and "Vader killing all the Jedi before getting his suit." What does that have to do with anything? Those are pretty weak reasons to dislike the movie.

The CGI stuff is just opinions. I didn't mind it, but I can understand how you would dislike it.

I could go on and just write a list countering all your reasons, but I'd rather not. I doubt me saying anything would change your mind.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
I agree that even MagnoliaFan's edits aren't the great, wonderful movies they should have been. But with the right tinkering, they are at least better than the crap Lucas gave us. And I look forward to seeing how other people edit it.

Instead of thinking of it as polishing a turd, think of it has buying a new Lego set that looks awesome on the box, but when you put it together, it actually really sucks. So you take all the pieces apart and build the best set you can with the pieces available to you. It still won't be the best set ever, but I'm sure if done right, it can be better than the original set.

Am I the only one left??
Time
Personally, I find Tolkien to be boring. He spends an entire chapter describing what a forest looks like. I was never able to finnish FotR, and I never even started on the other books. I really enjoyed the movies though.

But I think that one of the "greatest storytellers of the modern age" would be someone more like Quentin Tarantino, Chuck Palahniuk or even Kevin Smith. Darren Aronofsky has written some great movies aswell, but I think it's more his filmstyle that makes them great and not the actual story. Pi would be a boring book to read, but it was a genius movie to watch. Chuck Palahniuk writes some of the greatest books ever. Survivor being my favorite of them.

And I don't really think anyone will ever create the "most wonderous story ever told." I mean, to do that, it would have to be something so good that everyone in the world (or at least everyone who's watched/read it) would like. That's impossible to do, because everyone's opinions are so different...

Though, I do agree that future writers can learn from Lucas' mistakes.
