Lucas is way off....time will tell....

Actually, I think I prefer TPM to AotC. In TPM, we get to see Maul and Qui-Gon, and they're both awesome. I wish Darth Maul had a bigger roll and did more, but he's still probably my favorite Sith. In AotC, it's just a lot of boring crap with... really, no good parts. The Jedi battle at the end is pretty cool... Seeing hundreds of Jedi fighting. But really, I think the whole Boba Fett and Jango Fett thing completely screwed AotC.

ROTS: Incoherence ... (attention, a little bit of spoiler inside)
Time
I own two of the Manga Star Wars. I love them. I was trying to decide between two issues of the Star Wars Manga or a big collection of various Star Wars TALES. I picked the Mangas. If you live in New York, you can just go to Midtown comics. That's where I got mine. Or, if you don't live in New York, you can jsut go to the Midtown Comics website and you should be able to find them under the Manga -> Dark Horse section.

That would be really cool. The Jedi are awesome, but smugglers and bounty hunters and rebels and space pirates and gangsters all make for a much more exciting story. What I'd like them to do is take various characters who are famous, but don't appear in the movies (like Kyle Katarn or Dash Rendar) and show us some stories focusing around them. I don't want the entire series to focus on one story, I want to see several different stories with several different characters. I can hardly wait to see what they do with it, and I'm really crossing my fingers wishing they don't screw it up.

Star Wars references in other movies
Time
If we're counting TV shows aswell:

Futurama - Has several refrences. Things like "The Near-Death Star" and the giant worm thing from ESB popping out of an asteroid.

Simpsons - Countless refrences.

Robot Chicken - In one episode, it shows the scene where Darth Vader tells Luke he's his father. Then, he tells luke that Leia is his Sister. Then he tells Luke that the Empire will be defeated by Ewoks, and at this point Luke is so annoyed by his lying that he just walks away. There are a few others in that show aswell.

Family Guy - Again, so many refrences... It's hard to count/remember them all.

Clerks (the cartoon) - It's from Kevin Smith. Many Star Wars refrences.

And... my personal favorite:

Undergrads - Gimpy, one of the four main characters, is obsessed with Star Wars and has a huge collection and often makes comments related to Star Wars.

There are more, I'm sure. But I can't think of any right now off the top of my head.

The Prequel Curse

I guess posting here does make me a bit biased. But what I'm trying to say is that the PT appeals to people under the age of 25, but as for true, honest to god fans... I think most of them prefer the OT to the PT.

I'm not saying all of them do. But I'm pretty sure most of them do.

Remember, I'm actually speaking from experience and you're speaking more from opinion.

I know what my peers are like, and I know that there are plenty of teenagers who went to see RotS who aren't even fans of Star Wars. If you asked them who Bossk was, they wouldn't know. And if you explained that he was one of the Bounty Hunters hired by Darth Vader, I doubt they'd know what you were talking about. If you were to ask them what species Jar Jar was, most of them wouldn't know.

my point is, there is a difference between the people that the PT appeals to more, and the people who are actually Star Wars fans. My cousin who is 5 likes watching TPM, to him, it's just a movie like Toy Story or The Lion King, and he thinks ANH is boring. This may change as he gets older, but right now, the PT appeals to him. But he's not really a fan, he's just one of the billions of people who watches Star Wars. I'm not a fan of Titanic. I think it's boring. But it was such a big movie, that I saw it. I actually saw it a few times, through friends and family. But that doesn't mean I liked it... Do you get what I'm trying to say? I would understand if you said (or Lucas said) the PT appealed to people under the age of 25 more, because that would make sense. But saying that FANS under the age of 25 prefer the PT more isn't really true.

Er... I'm not trying to argue with you, and I didn't mean to write such a long reply, and I doubt I'll change your mind about anything you've already said. That's just my 2 cents. I can't even remember what I wrote anymore...

Actually, I think that Obi-Wan did recognise the Droids. He's just pretending not to, same as Leia. If you pay attention, he calls R2 "old friend" several times. The Alec Guinness plays the part (perfectly ) you can almost hear in his voice that he knows the Droids. I think the way Alex Guinness played the roll, you could almost of put anything in the PT and his acting would of made it seem true, or at least likely. He has this very vague sense in all his lines... And his face always looks as if he knows something he's not telling anyone.

What I wonder, is if Darth Vader notices R2 when he shoots him in the Death Star trench. He worked with R2, for what... 13 years?

From what I've read, he actualy absorbed the laser bolts and then added them to his own force power.

And about the Aayla Secura thing, I don't really know if I believe it either. It's just one of the many theories I've read. I actually could care less if she lived or not, because I didn't like her that much. Shaak Ti on the other hand, was a kickass Jedi.

I already said this in a different topic, but I'll say it here too. Anyone making an edit of the PT, could you please replace the Fox Logo and the LFL logo with the original ones so that they match the OT? Also, the opening crawl in the PT is orange and not yellow. Could you change this too so that all the crawls are yellow? That would be really cool.

Also, there was nothing wrong with Yoda's talking in the PT.

Also, Darth Raven, if you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then you must mean Aayla Secura (spelling?). She is suppose to appear in the TV show, and Lucas had already said that she'd have lots of "adventures" after RotS, and yet a scene of her dying was put in. If you pay attention to the scene, the Clone Troopers start shooting her but there are no burn marks from the blasters on her when she falls down, and there are burn marks on the ground. Also, after that, it gives us an overhead view and her body is under a big leaf, and even though she already fell to the ground, all the Clone Troopers keep firing at her, and some even move forward. So, some people came up with the theory that she used the blaster absorbing thingy that Vader did in ESB, and then she ran away.

And I too would pay for someone to make me my own "perfect" versions of each of the films. Although I hate the SEs, there are some things I wouldn't mind having in. And even though Mag's edits are better than the originals, there are still some things I would change to better suit my tastes. But I don't plan on paying anyone right now... Maybe later.
