I agree as well, but that’s slightly out of my talents haha.

I tried your new line and it sounds completely natural now. But it does feel a little squished. Needs some space to breath.

id like to hear the newer version you made.

Did my own slight audio fade out only because the line is so squished into there.

Also Nev, I’m not entirely sure why you feel they are no longer a master/apprentice. She is still being taught by Leia, and if he weren’t dead, he would still be her master.

I kinda liked Babu Frik. Is the movie more effective with him not in the final battle?

I agree. The reason Hal removed him though is because in this edit Kijimi is not destroyed, so why should a mechanic who can’t fly a ship alone tag along on this battle?

Personally, I think including him would still work out. Maybe Babu wanted to be present with Zorri when they destroy the Final Order. Doesn’t necessarily mean that his world has been destroyed. And it is a shame that hilarious moment is removed.

You’re probably right Hal. I already got in contact with JX so no need for anyone else to. I just want to see what I can do with his audio is all.

For those curious, he took the “e” sound from “me” and placed it on the end of the original “three”. That’s why I thought it sounded different. Not sure why “lesson” doesn’t sound as good as it should but I’ll try some things when I get access.

I’m not sure where exactly Jxeditor got the “three” from in that video. It doesn’t sound like the one Luke says when he tells Rey he will teach her the ways of the Jedi (and why they must end). I could be wrong though.

I’ll try it out when I get the time to.

EDIT: JX is on these forums but his last login date was the first of this year. I could probably get his attention through a PM but I already left a comment on the YouTube video. Anyways, I’ll get back on this tomorrow if I have the time.

Last could work well, but it might be best to avoid the suggestion that ghost Luke will never teach her anything else again. I’d still be willing to try it though.

Do you know if he does actually say “third” at any point during the movie?

EDIT: Did another test. The inflection Mark does with the word “lesson” makes it so that it would only sound natural as the first part of the phrase. So it would have to be a word that makes sense after “lesson”.

I seem to recall seeing that as well, Brother. Unfortunately, I also remember thinking it didn’t sound good enough. Maybe whoever made it just didn’t take the right lines to create it?

Regardless, there are some talented people on here so if one of them wants to take a stab at making Luke say “Lesson Three” I’m sure it would end up sounding better.

EDIT: I’m also willing to experiment a bit and produce a rough draft if that’s needed.

Yeah I just thought I’d share that because it directly relates to the chapter you just shared.

I agree that it’s best to leave things between Lando and Jannah alone. But I do feel it would be an interesting concept for these ex-stormtroopers to try and piece together where their real family is. Like searching the First Order databases to see where they were taken from, etc.

But ultimately that is accomplished with Jannah alone, just thought it might be interesting to extend it to Finn.

Yep, like I said, we would have to do some audio splicing in order to get him to say “Lesson Three”. So this idea may not work out right in the end.

I don’t like the caretaker village sequence because it’s the most egregious use of bathos employed by Rian in the entirety of TLJ. But hey, this isn’t the thread to discuss that so I’ll drop it having said that.

EDIT: Which deleted scene is it that Luke gave his Third Lesson?

So I don’t think Luke actually ever says, “Lesson Three”. You would have to splice together “Lesson Two” and “Three Lessons” from the movie.

The caretaker village sequence was never really the third lesson, it was more of an extension of the second.

I also recall an interesting thing from the leaks before TROS came out. Originally, Lando was going to say that he had a child (unspecified gender) that the First Order took from him. The original indication of this was going to be that Finn thought HE was Lando’s child, only to find out that it was in fact Jannah.

Once again, you don’t have to implement this, either. Just thought I would share what was thought about in production of the product.

Of course the lessons back in TLJ was to disuade Rey from training as a Jedi, or “prove” the Jedi were wrong, but it would be a fun “twist” he plays on the lack of the third lesson (since Rey left) from the last movie and “converts it” to an actual “Jedi good/right” lesson.

Kinda would be a fun play on the whole lessons thing from the last movie.

This is what I was thinking jarbear. This totally would NOT have been the third lesson he gave her on the island if she hadn’t left, but rather it is him sort of making fun of his previous self. He is correcting what his lessons should have been about basically.

Random nitpick here:

“The Aki-Aki species first appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. In the English subtitles to the film, name of the species is misspelled as ‘Acky Acky’.” -Wookiepedia

You don’t have to change the spelling if you prefer it that way, but I also think the canon spelling looks better. Looks a little less like a child came up with the name lol. Not your fault of course haha.

  • I don’t think the Bestoon Legacy is Rey’s parents ship. The TFA flashback (and its reuse in TROS) do seem to imply that she watched them leave in it, but the name ‘Bestoon Legacy’ (Ochi of Bestoon) and D-O being onboard and all suggest to me it was Ochi’s ship. Plus, he must’ve gotten to Jakku somehow. I think in ret(con)rospect, we have to assume the Jakku part of the TFA flashback is a mixture of vision and flashback, and that little Rey never actually, literally watched that ship fly off while Unkar took her away. I’d assume that at some unspecified point after her parents sold Rey, Ochi arrives in the Bestoon Legacy, locates Rey’s parents, takes them on board for interrogation, flies off, and then kills them. Maybe Rey saw the ship fly off and sensed her parents were on it, hence that being part of her TFA vision/flashback or whatever. But there’s no way they sold her to Unkar seconds before Ochi flies away like the flashback would imply if interpreted literally, because that’s just silly. Rey also appears to ‘remember’ her parents being killed by Ochi, which isn’t possible, unless that bit of flashback/vision is just for the audience’s benefit.

The reason I mentioned that I felt it was her parents’ ship is because we don’t always have to adhere to canon in all regards with this edit. ‘Bestoon Legacy’ is never mentioned as the ship’s title in the movie. If it were his ship, the most obvious interpretation of those events would have to be that Ochi left Jakku without noticing the screaming girl behind him. Wow, that just makes him seem so stupid.

You can construe the vision to match what you suggested, but 90% of the audience isn’t going to come to the same conclusion I wouldn’t think.

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why the writer’s decided that was his ship. It just creates way too many problems. It’s also a little bit of a junker on the inside, so why not give its ownership to, you know, junkers? I think Sith assassins would fly with more class.

EDIT: I feel I should clarify that the most elegant solution here would be to change the appearance of the ship in TFA and then remove all hints of Rey recognizing Ochi’s ship. I only suggest the above to avoid having someone do VFX work.
