The Last Jedi Expanded Edition by Jason Fry: The "Tragedy of Vader" Edit (v1 AVAILABLE)
Time

Here’s a cool passage that takes place right after Kylo and Rey’s first mind link. I didn’t really change much, I just made the wording more clearly allude to the dyad and I even replaced the word “ghost” with “phantom” in reference to Vader as a subtle hint for what’s to come.

She was still shaken by the manifestation of Kylo Ren. In a place she had come to think of as at least a beautiful sanctuary, seeing him had been an unpleasant surprise, to say the least.

After he’d immobilized her on Takodana, Kylo had taken her to Starkiller Base, to pry her memory of the map to this ancient place out of her head. He had probed her thoughts, sifting and sorting, and seen so much that she would have kept from him - him and anybody else, for that matter.

Her desperate certainty that her abandonment on Jakku had been a mistake, or a grim necessity that would be put right by her lost family, if only she waited long enough and patiently enough. Her terror and despair that she was deluding herself, and would spend her days in isolation because she wasn’t good enough, and end up as anonymous bones in the sand. Her dreams of an island amid a trackless ocean - the very island on which she now found herself.

Kylo had rummaged through these hopes and fears, things he had no right to. But as he searched, something had formed, or perhaps merely made itself known. Even as he cruelly scoured her mind, his own had mysteriously revealed itself to her. She felt his rage, like a ruinous storm that filled his head, his lust to dominate all others, and his desire to humiliate those that had wronged him. But she also felt his hurt, and his own feelings of abandonment. And his fear - that he would never prove as strong as Darth Vader, the phantom who haunted his dreams.

Kylo had retreated at finding Rey in his head - had practically fled from her. But that had not been the end of that strange, seemingly sudden connection. She began to see more - far more. Somehow, almost instinctively, she knew how he accessed some of the powers at his command - even though she didn’t understand them. It was as if his mind had become intertwined with hers, unlocking and flinging open the doors to his knowledge and training.

But now Rey couldn’t shut those doors, and she feared what else had been set loose upon her.

That was before I and many others realized how many fantastic people are on this forum who can do that sort of thing without engaging in nefarious practices.

And they ARE trying to sell the movie itself. Here is your proof:

Yes, it would be free after 2 months, but the first 2 months are illegal since they are trying to sell access to the entire film.

Except you’re wrong, bud. There is a difference between placing a fan film/fan content behind a paywall, and an actual FILM that was distributed in theaters, except with fan-made stuff sprinkled in there. I’m not referring so much to the ideas of the property, but rather the film itself, which is absolutely property of Lucasfilm. You can apply cosmetics and bonus scenes to it, but it’s still a film that you have no right selling.

That quote you provided isn’t a full picture either. I did mention right after it, “I’m fairly certain that since the CGI was commissioned, by all rights that video belongs to the Fixing Disney Star Wars team. We would have to communicate with them or settle some sort of deal in order to use it.”

I never “shar[ed] their content”. I sent a private video link back to them! LMAO! How is that a breach? Clearly you don’t like accepting ideas from people unless they’re giving back money. Scummy scummy scummy.

You are way too optimistic if you think that shit is ever going to show up on here. Maybe with some fringe editors, but the main editors here aren’t going to touch that garbage with a 6 foot pole. That’s if it’s ever released, lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bail out.

EDIT: Perhaps you’re referring to the image I shared with this forum? In that case, I still don’t see the problem. It’s a static image, hardly much of a concern whatsoever.

Jar Jar Bricks, among others actually leaked payed content and implied that if there wasn’t any watermark then it could be used. I’m just saying I think the way they’ve been painted as villains or bad dudes is just unfair. I totally understand about the potential risk of monetization but as I said, I don’t think it’s any different to how other editors on this site have also operated. FDSW have a page where you can donate to them filming new scenes and creating new effects, there’s nothing wrong with that and again, it’s no different to how others operate. It’s just a real shame because they always seem to try their best and are always asking for any help, they’re just editors and Star Wars fans.

Mods - I’m 99% sure this is a sock account for Fixing Disney Star Wars. I say this because they know information they shouldn’t otherwise.

Allow me to explain myself. I never “leaked” content with malicious intent. I simply put a TLJ deleted scene of Kylo on a bridge before their VFX of Mustafar as a test and then created a private video of it on YouTube, promptly sending it their channel. It was purely a recommendation for their edit. But of course I was called a bunch of nasty things, which immediately turned me off from being remotely interested in any their work.

Because of the private nature of that video, the only people that know about its existence are FDSW. And BTW, I have no idea wtf you’re talking about when saying that I implied if there wasn’t a watermark that it could be used. I realize that the nature of this website is that we ask the original creators for permission of use, and it never would have ended up in a public edit unasked because of that. Maybe I was referring to personal use? Even that I doubt as I don’t even remember what you’re referring to tbh.

And btw, get off your high horse. Stop claiming that you’re no different than anybody else who ask for financial contributions, because you know that’s completely false. Your own page admitted at one point that the edits would only be available for paid members exclusively for months before being granting access to the public. That’s 100% illegal, as you’re profiting from the Star Wars IP. No other way to spin that shit. I happily donated to Adywan because he doesn’t engage in scummy behavior like that.

Omg can we not do spoilers. Literally waiting to get home to watch show and things are being spoiled/revealed on a non bad batch spoiler thread?

I don’t have many pet peeves, but this is one.

Why didn’t you drop everything in your life to watch it within 12 hours of its release, huh? Totally your fault.

(I’m with you, by the way. Maybe we can wait a day or two before mentioning spoilers?)

It’s a fairly inconsequential detail in the episode. I wouldn’t even call it a spoiler.

I’ve apologized and won’t do it again, but let’s at least understand that I wasn’t out here dropping major details on the episode and I had a valid reason to share the small detail that I did.

Understand that people don’t like other people deciding what is and isn’t a spoiler for them. Just tag and hide it next time.

I’ve gotta be honest, I had no idea how to do that at the time so that’s why this all happened. I also legitimately didn’t think it was going to be that big of a deal, but I guess not.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also, I knew that the green tank was already finished by Poppa. I agree Sherlock that red feels more Sithy, but since it was already done I figured, “Why the hell not?”

Added detail

And this probably isn’t the last time we’re going to see these green tanks, so keep that in mind. (Mando season 3, Bad Batch episodes yet to release, etc.)

The only way for bad parents to work would be if Ochi never caught her parents. Furthermore, it might be a good idea in that case for Rey to be the one who killed them with her Palpy lightning ala Chewbacca shuttle.

It’s something I could consider for a v2 of my TROS project, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. There are further implications with it, such as the fact that the ship means nothing to Rey now, and the dagger wasn’t her parents’ murder weapon.

Part 3 Changelog:

  • Luke mentions that Rey should create something new instead of becoming a Jedi. This harmonizes well with the ending of my TROS novel where the Jedi Order is renamed to the Skywalker Order. Not to mention that Kylo proposes a similar thing later on in the story.
  • Luke mentions a “vicious cycle”. I want to emphasize the idea that Luke believes this cycle of dark times followed light times and vice versa will never end, thus why he believes removing the Jedi from the equation will balance things out.
  • The original novel never makes it clear that Finn left the bridge before it exploded. I corrected this.
  • Removed useless Rose thoughts that went on for paragraphs (especially since I’m removing the Rebellion ring)
  • Holdo mentions “security concerns” that currently prevent her from sharing information about her plan. She calls Poe “a separate security concern” due to his recklessness.
  • Tweaked the Chewbacca scene that felt (at least to me) to be blatantly advocating veganism. Not that I have a thing against vegans, but I’d prefer for this to simply be a funny moment.
  • Modified some of Finn’s new dialogue that felt like it didn’t belong. “Oh my God” doesn’t belong in Star Wars.
  • Made Rose’s thought process about hyperspace tracking be based on theoretical and experimental knowledge. She identifies it as one possible explanation.

The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

I was recently watching the documentary on TROS and apparently they went through a bunch of different items which would give the coordinates to the trio before they landed on the dagger. Apparently their original idea was that the dagger itself was forged at the time the Death Star fell (presumably at the command of Palpatine), and it was created to guide Sith followers to Exegol. So it just ended up in Ochi’s possession I supppose. Again, doesn’t really make much sense, though. Were they meant to bring the wayfinder back to the Death Star after they were through with it? And if so, how do they get back to Exegol again? Lmao.

I suppose Ochi could have been the “ferryman”, if you will, guiding fellow cultists to Exegol, but that just brings us back full circle: why would he need the location’s precise coordinates? In case he dies or gives it to someone I guess?

Anyways, enough of that crap. One thing I want to correct Sherlock is that Babu wasn’t beaming their location to the entire galaxy. It was only to just that moon. Kylo tracked them down a different way.

You could have that same exact criticism with the original movie. Congratulations, you played yourself. In the scene between Leia and Poe in the transport ship Leia says that Holdo knew they were tracking their main ship. How did she know this? Never given an answer.

Well, as a reader, we would know at this point that there is no spy. There is an entire scene dedicated to Hux explaining his hyperspace tracking technology. So we would be on Poe’s side, because we know Holdo is wrong. But of course, the twist later on would be that Holdo did suspect hyperspace tracking, but didn’t want to take any risks.

So it’s the exact same thing as you just described.

So how about this for the Holdo scene? This way, she isn’t directly stating that she suspects a spy, but Poe is still able to interpret it that way:

“Our plan… Captain? Not Commander, yes? Wasn’t it Leia’s last official act to demote you? For your Dreadnought plan? Where we lost our entire bomber fleet?”

Poe, astonished, found himself at a loss for how to defend himself. “Captain, Commander, fine. I just want to know what we’re doing.”

But Holdo wasn’t finished. Her eyes bored into his.

“Of course you do. Unfortunately for you, it is a need-to-know plan, and you are no longer an executive officer. So until security concerns are cleared, I suggest you stick to your post, and follow my orders, Captain.”

Holdo turned around, but now Poe was worked up. She was suggesting that somebody in the Resistance fleet was leaking their position to the First Order - and that was how they were tracking them through hyperspace.

“You dare question my allegiance to the Resistance?” he protested to her back. “After my parents sacrificed so much?”

Holdo swirled back around. “I never suggested such a thing. You’re a liability, flyboy. Impulsive. Dangerous. The last thing we need right now.”

And with that the new commander of the Resistance stalked off, leaving a stunned starfighter ace in her wake.
