The C-3PO AI was having difficulty pronouncing the word “saboteur” so I used the next best alternative:

Oh shoot I also forgot the Rey lines that allow us to reinstate her yelling at Poe about the Falcon. Did you get all that?

I’m currently generating a bunch more 3PO lines. Eleven labs introduced a feature that lets you describe the voice with a paragraph, so I asked GPT-4 to describe his voice and put that in there. The results appear to be a bit better. I’ll post what I can later today.

Did we end up deciding if we wanted Leia to say “Ben… come home”?

I also want to quickly make sure you have all the other lines. They are:

• A new version of “Rey” to replace the repeated one
• I sense a great deal of uncertainty in you, Rey.
• He’s too dangerous
• A Jedi needs her weapon

• They paid for your protection… in more than one way.
• Remastered version of dyad line
• Old Ben Kenobi line for Jedi voices

I’ve been following several discord channels that generates AI voices of various singers. It sounds flawless in several cases. I’m not at all familiar with how they do it, though. I’m also fairly certain they only have it working this well for singing, not speaking.

Was there anything specifically that we still need done for this project? It’s been a while since I’ve even used my eleven labs account.

That works pretty well! I think some of the lightsaber collision sounds might be a tad bit delayed, though. Maybe it’s streamable messing things up, I’m not sure.

Anybody who is satisfied with their work. If you are willing to consider it, for example.

Will a completed version of the scene be uploaded independently for editors at some point? I think plenty of people would like to slot it into Hal’s edit or possibly merge it with an extended version of AOTC for a super extended version.

That’s certainly a questionable change. I’d understand if the film was up in your face with some steamy, long-drawn make out scene between two random characters. That would feel extremely forced and cringe. But it’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment, really. I think JJ actually did a good job here making it feel organic.

Besides, why should it necessarily be interpreted in a sexual way? How do we know that in a galaxy as large and diverse as Star Wars that it isn’t their culture’s way of celebrating with each other? Yes, the novelization states that they are in a relationship, but the film itself never actually makes that clear.

I’ve got nothing bad to say about the second one. You’ve just gotta fix the typo “In its wake…” 😃

Not a bad rough draft. I’d be wary of placing the 6 years time frame in the crawl, because most of the movie takes place 19 years after ROTS. We shouldn’t want that smaller figure to stick with the audience. I’d get rid of the mention of timing entirely.

The second paragraph I have no complaints about except the grammar. Should be “Fearing for the safety of his family…” Scientist should be lowercase. The word “small” might also be redundant.

IDK why but it feels weird having Krennics full name there haha. I’d also avoid name dropping the Death Star. Deserves to be spelled out first in ANH. I think I’d completely rework the final paragraph. Especially since I don’t think he’d be “sent” to do anything, he’d see this as a personal matter.

Just forwarding the news you put onto the Episode X thread. I think of all Star Wars movies going forward will have a crawl it may be worth putting one onto this movie.

That tool is going to be insane for creating new VFX for fan edits. Very exciting stuff.

I had a similar thought. A 16 year time gap from TLJ to this wouldn’t be completely unprecedented. Episodes 1 to 2 have 10 years, for example. If you removed TROS, you’d just need the crawl for the new movie to do the heavy lifting. Something about the First Order getting toppled thanks to Luke’s final stand.

The biggest problem for a 2 in 1 would be giving a satisfying finish to Kylo Ren. And obviously the First Order wouldn’t exist in this new film. Maybe you could cut all of Palps out of IX, and use some AI dialogue to have the characters be after something else. Let the film play out all the way to Rey and Kylo’s duel on Exegol and his redemption. Then we could have Rey go to Ahch-To, but instead of having her go to Exegol to defeat Palpatine (who wouldn’t exist in this edit), we would use footage from this new movie intercut with the TROS finale. Idk, I’m just spitballing.

Ah, that’s fair enough. But seeing as how they’re departing from the traditional episodic titling, they may also depart from the standard naming conventions of the films. It might be two words, for example, which definitely wouldn’t work.

Some other ideas I’ve got are “Path of the Jedi” and “Balance of the Force”.

But I agree with you. Hopefully they don’t just say, “Oh, he died on a mission or something.”

I’d be more worried about it being some throw-away line like “Oh Finn? He’s in the Outer Rim helping ex-stormtroopers.”

In relation to this thread, I like the WIP title you currently have. It’s a nice mirror of ROTJ. I actually kinda like the sound of Legacy of the Jedi. I suppose it depends on what the actual plot will involve.

Since the film is supposed to be about the new Jedi order, it’s concerning that John Boyega hasn’t been announced to be returning, as well. I think he’s previously said that he’s done with Star Wars, but hopefully enough of that Disney money would bring him back.

I realize the Lego Holiday Special and the like aren’t necessarily canon, but I think it would be awesome to see Finn as Rey’s Jedi apprentice just like in those shorts. I’m not sure that a film with just Rey being the only Jedi would be all that interesting. I guess we could see “new” characters such as a grown up version of broom boy since it’s 15 years later. Grogu might be there, too.

Yeah I haven’t seen Kenobi since it first came out, and definitely not all episodes consecutively. Seeing this project is going to be a very new experience for me in many ways. I’m sure this is the case for others, too.

The only problem with that one is you can see the wreckage of the first ship behind Vader in a shot despite him never actually destroying it. Plus, I actually thought it was really cool seeing Vader absolutely rip that first ship to shreds.

We shall see what PixelJoker decides in the end.

I applied a negative dB gain to the “echo” effect which produces the signature robotic 3PO sound. This gives it a more subtle effect, perhaps more in-line with the film. Provided it isn’t too long, I think this should be a nice fit for the scene:

It would be possible to do that for Finn, at least audio-wise. But I seriously doubt there is suitable footage for such a thing. Which is a shame, because I agree that it would be incredible.

By far my favorite change I’ve seen so far was him putting Qui-Gon’s crystal in Kenobi’s saber chest. I can finally have my fandom explanation that Luke is using Qui-Gon’s lightsaber crystal in episode 6.
