Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett R.I.P. 25/ 06/ 2009
Time

I wonder if Micheal Jackson's excessive plastic surgery had anything to do with his death. It sounds like he took a drug (forgot what it was called) but that face of his looked so fragile like it would fall off if you touched it. I can't beleive he wanted to look like a white chick. He looked great in thriller, if he would've stopped there he would've aged great.

Hey guys, we should write/type letters/emails to film institutions and videophile websites and ask them politely to donate money to Adywan's cause. I'm going to write to the American Film Institution and to the digitalbits. Anywhere else you suggest I write? I was going to write one to Lucas and be like hey douchebag, I know you think you're too good to read this so one of your ass kissing PR guys is probably reading this right now so look, here's somebody who gives a damn, why don't you give him some money since you're too lazy to do it.

Top ten films you desire to see in a movie theatre...

Sorry but I think Lawrence of Arabia is extremely boring. It has good cinematography though. I popped the DVD in one night and watched it for like an hour and a half because I couldn't really care less where the story was going and itg was boring me to death. ATown8814

Adywan, you sound like you have a lot of health problems? Are these type A or type B health problems. Type A meaning are these inherited health problems or are they type B where you spend too much time in front of the computer eating junkfood type of health problems?

If Lucas did a proper oot restoration for blu ray and dvd would he be forgiven for the special editions and the prequels?

Saw the special editions of empire and jedi twice in theaters, and clones and sith twice i cannot even remember why now.

You are such a liar. In a few posts ago weren't you "mr. I've never seen more than twenty minutes of the prequels."

I guess I will have to say at this point, I cannot forgive Lucas for any of his wrong doings. Even if he did a proper OOT restoration for blu-ray it would make me feel a little better but it would be too little too late. I still would have a lot of anger towards him for waiting so long and keeping us fans in the dark for so long.

The Thread for CGi haters list movies you think were ruined by too much use of cgi. Not enough old school stuff

Skyjedi2005, you're kind of becoming a broken record. I don't know how many times you have said this same thing in different variations.

As far as CGI goes, what live-action movies don't use too much CGI these days? The last movie in my mind not to use too much CGI was Terminator 2. Actually I take that back, I think Jurassic PArk had a good balance of modles and CGI. Althoiugh, it has been a long time since I've seen that movie so I may change my mind if I ever get around to seeing it again.

Way to shit over a bunch of good directors because of 1 or 2 sub-par films they were involved in.

Say what you want about Spielberg's recent films, but the dude's still an amazing director.  Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, Saving Private Ryan, Amistad - all recent Spielberg films made in the PT era, all fantastic.  It's not like he hasn't made shitty movies in the past, when he was "on top of his game" - 1941, Hook, any Indy sequel ...

And you know Fincher's done many great movies besides the great (but way too obsessed-over) Fight Club - Se7en, Zodiac, Panic Room.

And I fucking loved The Green Mile, The Majestic and The Mist, so I don't know how you can possibly compare him to the shitheads that are M. Night Shyamawhatthefuckever and Michael Bay.

Sky, sometimes I think you don't actually formulate your own opinions, you just see whatever the majority of the people you talk to (online and off) think about it, then you echo that sentiment 10x more vehemently in a long, disjointed rant to make it seem like it's actually your opinion.

I love the way skyjedi2005 talks.

Even with all the technical limitations, the OT turned out infinitely superior to the PT. If digital video is so much easier to use, why couldn't George Lucas make better prequels? The digital video and blue screen made editing so much faster and easier. He could've used the saved time to think of better movies. I don't think any of the work in the PT is very impressive. With all the effort that goes into the CGI, it sure was boring to watch. George Lucas completely lost all that made the OT successful. He thought because the battles in the PT are tens times bigger, it means they are ten times better!

I'm glad I saved these.

Which one is the changed one? This reminds me, in an AOTC documentary George Lucas said that he thinks we should've switched to digital video 20 years ago and this was said in an '02 documentary. I don't even know if digital video cameras existed in 1982 and if they did I'm sure they weren't capable of capturing picture quality even close to film. Maybe George Lucas really is as dumb as skyjedi2005 thinks he is?

Off topic here...Janskeet is there some meaning to your Terminator graphic sig?

It's just a bunch of random snapshots that I'm fond of from Terminator 2. The only thing I tried to do is get snapshots that I thought were cool from the beginning to the end of the film and arrange them in sequential order and pick ones that balance in color from left to right . I wanted it to be a lot longer but I had to keep cutting it down from being too small so you could barely see the pictures or it would stretch beyond the monitor.

I understand the themes of paralells, but you shouldn't use them at the expense of storytelling. I feel George Lucas was just using a process of elimination. I feel the only reason why there was a big space battle at the beginning of ROTS is because GL never had one there before. It wasn't about telling a story, it was about flling a void inside his head that he has got to have a big space battle at the beginning of one of his SW films. Same goes for a lot of other things.

Just to sound elated -

'Bring My Shuttle' is a kick-ass example of someone in a tetchy mood.

I've read and re-read the things that are being done with this edit and I noticed this under Bespin -  8. Removing of all the SE shots of Vader's shuttle leaving Bespin and docking with the Executor.

I already know that it's an omission that's been well praised by everyone and I also have to say that they should indeed go. Goes without saying anyway :)

Ok, whilst the SE shots of Vader's shuttle leaving Bespin and docking in (haha the Death Star II) the Executor are indeed history in this edit, has Ady actually said that he may keep that small SE shot of Vader walking on the Bespin platform (whilst editing out the shuttle and changing the sky a bit of course)? I have to admit that for a very small shot it looks cool and is the only time that we see Vader walking in front of a city as well. It hopefully won't do anything to the excellent pace of the original - but I have a weird feeling this has been discussed. I'm far too lazy to scroll through 400 odd pages, lol. So in short, has Ady saved that little snippet for the edit? Thanks.

Why would Vader be walking out on the platform if he just said "bring my shuttle"? To stand out there and wait? I always wondered why Lucas made this change? My theory is to add symmetry between this movie and AOTC. In AOTC we see Count Doofus fly out to Corousant at the end of the move and Lucas has this weird obsession with symmetry in SW that what was done in the PT must mirror what is done in the OT. If this obsession continues I wouldn't be surprised if by his 20th revision, Lucas just has ROTJ be TPM played in reverse.
