One of the problems with the petition
Time

See this doesn't state how we wanted them. There is way too much ass kissing in this petition and you even labled GL as a perfectionist??? You guys even suggested a limited edition run with the special editions included? Huh? I don't remember that? You guys encourage him to include the special editions and have it as a limited release. Way to go. It should've been requested as permanent release and no SE included. It wouldn't have hurt to request deleted footage, old documentries too. You probably blew your only chance to have this happen by not being specific enough. I don't think LFL is going to take another petition seriously and outsiders are going to think we are just being unreasonable, too picky, and need to get a life.

Oh well, thank god for people like Adywan.

One of the problems with the petition
Time

I think one of the problems we had with the petition is we were not specific enough on what we wanted. To my memory all it said is we wanted the OOT on DVD, nothing else. No detail on what we wanted as the source, restoration, and transferring. We assumed that they would do their best to give us the OOT in the best quality possible. George Lucas took advantage of the loop holes in our petition. Perhaps we should make a new petition that is very specific in what we want as far as source, restoration, and transeffing as possible so this time George Lucas has no excuses. Does anybody have an image of the petition we had posted on the site until May '06? I would like to see it because I forgot what it looked like.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Adywan, do you really go through these movies frame by frame? Because if you did, even if you spent just 1 hour on every frame it would take you decades just to complete one movie and that's with no sleep! I did the math by dividing the apporoxmate # of frames in a 2 hour movie by 24 to get days and then divided it by 365 to get years.

Wow, I didn't realize how turguise the scenes with Yoda were, Adywan, are you trying to make it look as close as possible to the theatrical version, or are you doing the coloring to your own taste? By the way, I don't know if they spell color "colour" in the UK, but here in the USA it is spelt "color".

Adywan, what version of the Emperor and dialog do you plan on using? Are you going to use the OOT emperor as he appear in the 1980 theatrical release? Or are you going to use the '04 Ian McDiarmid Emperor. Are you going to use Ian McDiarmid's voice if you use the OOT Emperor, or are you going to manipulate the dialog to your own taste?

Why was the '04 DVD set such a botched release?
Time

Did anyone buy the '04 DVDs without knowing how botched of a release it was or that it didn't include the theatrical versions? I participated in forums reading about the set before they came, so it was no surprise to me. but before that I just assumed Lucas would include the OOT with the special editions in the DVD set, and they would be treated with the best preservation efforts possible. It's just common sense.

Who's worse, TFN or the official site, starwars.com?
Time

One thing I got a kick out of going to the offical site and TFN forums was this: Anytime you pointed out an issue with the story or an inadequacy in the prequels, the Lucas fans boys would rush in and start giving me a bunch of reasons why these issues or inadequacies are really not inadequcies at all and acutally are absolutely perfect and George Lucas is a god who can do no wrong and the prequels are perfect etc.

For example. Before episode 3 came out, I made a post about episode 2, how I thought the story was really poor especially at the point where Hayden and Padme leave Tatoonie and take C3p0 with them and never consult with the Lars.

They started telling me things like: Oh Anakin was depressed at the time and the Lars were morning his mom's loss so it wasn't necessary to consult with them and Anakin has a little bit of a dark side and that was GL's way of conveying that, he didn't consult with him because of his "dark side". Then they went on about how Anakin's awkwardness was deliberate to show his dark side, oooooooowwwwwww.

I don't know why every one hates the prequel trilogy i mean the story is amazing behind it and we got to see the rise of Darth Vader. Yes the originals are classics but people should appreciate the prequel trilogy more.

Likewise on what zombie84 stated and I made a thread back in July stating how I hope the prequels get remade by competent writers and directors.

Rage against George: A Place for lucas-bashing

Why do you have to object everything people say negative1?

First of all, his laserdisc and VHS releases were fine, but that was before he lost his mind and media was a lot simpler back then. There wasn't as many capabilities with recording media back then. Now there is and Lucas is not taking much advantage to that and many other movie companies have been and a lot more considerate of their fans. Star Wars is the most popular film franchise in the world and Lucas is not listening to us.

His recent films have sucked and is being an ignorant prick about it. He won't admit that he is a poor film maker and needs help with writing and directing.

He thinks he's a god and can do no wrong. Therefore, he won't consent his work with other people other than yes men to improve his work.

He is restricting people access to the best sources of the OOT even though there are people who are a lot more dedicated about the films than he is.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't like the fan edits and wouldn't mind shutting them down if he could.

He's dishonest, liar, full of shit

He has little talent and tries to make himself out as a skilled well rounded director when all he is good for is special effect crap.

People don't like his excessive CGI and he keeps on over using it.

It's time to put Star Wars on blu-ray and instead keeps on rereleasing the same boring versions we all hate.

He has all this money and won't put any of it into his franchise in ways we would like.

He just uses excuses that his stuff is for kids to excuse his shoddy film making and lack of attention to detail.

He's just plain out of touch.

When and in what format was the first time you saw Star Wars?
Time

When I was a very young child sometime back in the late '80s or early '90s we had a VHS and Betamax VCR. During that time, video rental places switched from Betamax to VHS. Usually my mom would rent movies on VHS and then record them on a Betamax tape. I know one time she rented the Star Wars trilogy on VHS and recorded them on Betamax. She played them in the living room, but I didn't pay much attention to them. I was being a typical child running around the house, playing with toys and stuff. I remember watching parts of ESB in the living room, but I don't remember watching ANH or ROTJ. All I remember watching back then is the scenes with Yoda and the lightsaber battle at the end. I thought the scenes with Yoda were boring and the action sequences were the only parts that kept my attention. The first time I really laid down and watched the movies seriously was on January 26th 2000. I was twelve at the time. It was on a Wednesday morning and I happened to be sick at the time. My mom called me in sick to school that day. After she left for work at around 8am, I got the Betmax player and brought it in my room and hooked it up to the TV in my room. I got the Betamax tapes of the Star Wars trilogy my mom recorded from VHS rentals and popped in the ANH/ESB tape (they were both recorded on one tape). I loved both of them, but I didn't get to watching ROTJ that day because by the time ESB was over my mom would've been home from work soon and I didn't want her to know I was watching movies. I saw ROTJ a week and a half later on Saturday night February 5th 2000 and loved it too. Before then, I wasn't even sure if Darth Vader died and the Empire falled in ROTJ. I even had this dream that if Darth Vader didn't die and the Empire was still alive, I would get a job working for LFL and help them decide how to have Darth Vader die and the empire to fall. But after seeing ROTJ for the first time, I thought they did a perfect job ending the empire and Darth Vader and I couldn't think much of a way to improve on it, though I was confused why they spent so much time on the scenes at Jabba's palace.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

Adywan, I was thinking, when you get to ROTJ, there are a ton of continuity errors and things IMO that need to be addressed. Like the Emperor's throne room window. We see the battle with the star destroyers and the rebel fleet happening before the fleet merged together in that window. It would be nice to include Endore in the veiw of the window and subtley moving to work in continuity of the Death Star orbiting the moon. To make Endore an official moon, you should also show another bigger planet in the distance to make Endore an actual moon. I suggest you check imdb.com for continiuty errors listed for the movies on that site before you indulge in you edit of the film. Check the imdb ESB goofs too if you haven't already to make sure you get all of them. There are a lot, so I hope you will be up to the challenge!

AFAIR LOWRY did the restauration, not LucasFilm.

I think YCM labs did the original restoration on the prints, and from what I understand, Lowry never even had access to actual film- Lucasfilm just gave them hard-drives with the films on them.

I still don't think anybody knows for sure at what point the blue tint was introduced, though.

The blue tint was added when George Lucas split gatorade on the film.
