I think that Zorri staying on Kajimi isn’t a good enough reason to keep it in there, as she gets off world anyway. If it had been a line about Kajimi is her some or something, that would’ve been more believable. I think I’d also just prefer her not being a fighter. Until forced to fight. The threat isn’t lessened if you give her a way out, because it’s still one of the movies many fake out deaths that gets resolved without any real effort or depth.

Also, The Rise of Skywalker could also refer to Kylo, who finally rises out of the darkness. How I solved the issue, though not as cleanly as I like right now, is I have her take the new name while fighting Palpatine. This at least gives her motivation, as she’s abandoning her own family legacy in front of that person, and taking up a new legacy there and then. This also helps Palpatine’s line about putting an end to Skywalker or whatever he said become more relevant, rather than him saying it out of the blue with no Skywalkers present.

Nah you probably said it just fine, my first language is just english … (Joke on me, im terrible at speaking and writing. Lol)

As for the medallion plan … that a toughy. The current depiction of it still favors on being a fan servicy thing then a purposeful thing. Too bad JJ didn’t build it up better to be more than just a fan service/“Chewy finally got his medal” sort of thing. Heck, even having something that showed Leia going through a box of Han’s stuff (Maybe his jacket is in there, nod to TFA comment) and take it out of that. So it becomes more of a keepsake or a reminder of when Han went from a smuggler to a rebel hero. So then later, Chewy got Leia’s keepsake of Han, last of Leia’s possessions, to remember them both by. … and not just a “finally getting his medal.”

That ends my TED talk.

That was clearly their goal for the medal, but Abrams cut the story/setup portions to focus on action/visuals. Gotta keep the movie movie at such a fast pace that people don’t have time to question the nonsense! 😂

Much as I love the Imperial March, loved Giacchino’s new Imperial theme as a supplement.

Rise of Skywalker is the only truly egregious score for me, while I love some of the new pieces for it (like when Kylo is on Mustafar and goes to Exegol), the OT greatest hits felt more than out of place.

I agree. In fact Giacchino’s Imperial theme reminds me of a militarized version of Williams’s motif for the Empire in ANH.

Rise of Skywalker is a mixed bag for me. The newer pieces are great as always but the revisiting of old themes feels a bit arbitrary in some moments. I wonder if I could try tweaking with the score during the victory celebration at the end.

If you send me a version with just score to picture (without original sound), I’m confident I could achieve it. Just don’t know what music to put where. My brain is just less music-focused.

Sure, let me check the scene again (IIRC the theatrical score doesn’t align 100% with the released soundtrack) and I’ll PM you with a link so we can exchange ideas.

Cool, go ham on that sequence. Make it like you wish it could be, I’ll work on mixinf it into the rest of the sound.

I don’t mind the revisiting of old themes as much, I just wish they had been used for whole scenes instead of just moments. I mean, the ROTJ victory celebration was basically just two alternating melodies and it was hecka memorable - I’m not as inclined to remember that time they played 8 bars of the Force theme, then 8 bars of Yoda’s Theme, then 8 bars of Rey’s theme, then 8 bars of Luke and Leia’s theme, then 8 bars of the Rise of Skywalker. Although given the pacing for the movie itself, that’s probably more a result of the direction than of Williams.

It’s all direction… this movie is Abrams unleashed, going extra with all his usual nonsense but on overdrive.

Why didnt Vader feel that he was literally in scenes with his own daughter and never felt a glimpse of the force.

Because…

He felt Obi-wan, and you’d think he’d feel his offspring, i know it’s all a retcon that they’re related, but that’s how i feel about any current issues, they always end up being ironed out.

I doubt it’ll be ironed out, but again: this wasn’t an issue. Vader isn’t even sure it’s Kenobi immediately, he says it’s feels familiar, then comes to the conclusion that it’s Obi-Wan. It’s not surprising that Vader wouldn’t recognise two people he’d never met.

So much of Ben’s conversations with Luke are on the same level, even telling him where to go to achieve his goals, his ghost is also very concerned about the state of the Galaxy, who’s alive and who isn’t. Also, Vader has traveled to Exegol— happening in the current comics.

Obi-Wan was willing to sacrifice Leia, because he valued Luke more. It wasn’t until Yoda said there was “another” that he put stock in Leia being worth saving— even in that scene he was willing to let Leia die.

The Vader not sensing Leia might have to do with familiarity, as he recognised Ben specifically but didn’t sense Luke and only found out he was his son later, and only sensed Luke was strong with the Force when he used the Force on his Death Star trench run.

Oh, I know. This started as posting a silly TikTok.

To honestly fix it, I imagine you’d need to define why Luke gave up the search. I’d love for it to be he sensed Grogu and left to go be in The Mandalorian and was simply to preoccupied with training Jedi after that to bother with finding ancient Sith and Jedi attifants… but that’s really the only thing I could see doing it.

Also, not a plot hole, but why did Lando stay on Pasaana for 30 years? Like, Luke bails on the search, and Lando just… vibes in the desert for 30 years? Gave up searching for (presumably) Jannah?

That’s not the point, because Anakin has before appeared to Luke. Anakin is the one who knows about the Wayfinders and Exegol, and has used them in the current run of Darth Vader comics. So, when Luke was searching for the Wayfinders to find Exegol, there’s no reason Anakin’s Ghost shouldn’t have told him, or that Luke wouldn’t have asked.

It’s just sloppy writing in TRoS, not a big deal and something we just have to live with… but there’s no real logic to fix it without reshooting the movie.

I guess, we see Ben act so often of his own volition, it just seems strange that Anakin would not do the same, especially as Luke is at his most “connected to the Force”.

So, unless Anakin was prevented from speaking to Luke and willed Palpatine to return union I’m êtes and rebuild his forces on Exegol… it still seems like a plot hole. Not one that can be fixed really, but still one that is there.
