I've got to disagree on this one too. Needa would have had a Lambda shuttle. The Empire was based on Nazi Germany and the Nazi officers always had the best cars. It was a status and power symbol, very flash

But there's no need for it to be a Lambda.  Needa's shuttle WAS cool.  It also gets away from the notion that seems to pop up in EU stuff that there is ONE kind of anything.  We have 39 kinds of Star Destroyer but only one kind of "best" shuttle?

And maybe the Lambdas were NEXT years best model?

But the original Needa's shuttle was just a TIE bomber. What was he going to do? Bomb the hell out of the Executor so he didn't get strangled? lol

As I have always said.........I would have left Needa's shuttle as a TIE Shuttle.

The TIE Shuttle was conceived for ANH's opening scene but never used, but the design did make its appearance in ESB as Needa's shuttle & as a bomber.

Before I did my first Youtube mock-up, I did try to convince Ady to keep the TIE Shuttle as it was as I thought a Lambda shuttle was a bit OTT to make a Star-Destroyer to Star-Destroyer trip......and the Lambda shuttles are a bit over used in the films.....thats when I suggested maybe a Shuttle classier than a TIE Shuttle/Bomber design, just for interstellar flight thus keeping its solar panels...thats my Avatar.

......but alas Ady said no.........Lambda shuttle it is.

On topic, Needa doesn't need an escort because is the middle of a fleet with fighters flying around in other shots. Besides, he's just a capitan. ;-)

Needa doesn't need a Lambda shuttle, he's just a captain.....something smaller would suffice.

PT idea, Sorry if this is off topic but others are discussing it.

In the PT I think Darth Maul should be called Darth Vader,.................................................................................................

.....................Probably impossible to pull off for ADY but I can dream.

Now that would have been a better prequel.....tying into the OT...not contradicting it.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

Works a lot better.......

......what about just cutting out the whole lift scene completely, they go into the lift, the doors close (shot of inside lift) you see shots of lift ascending from inside of liftshaft, the guys arrive on their floor.....doors open.....they step out.....saves all the Anakin's in, superjump out, does a flipper jump........and he's back in the lift again........why did he bother.

Info Wanted: ANH.....Revisited or Purist???
Time

Yeah we could use the higher bit-rate version as the base....and insert the Purist bits..........what about the torture droid's needle?.......why did Ady make Ben ignite his sabre before Vader?

*Now this would need a bit of work......I'd also like to cut out the SE CG Stormtrooper & Dewback, would love to redo the Landspeeder approach to Mos Eisley (would need new background matte) remove the Stormtrooper hanger that Han runs into on the Death Star.

*But this is perhaps another project.

A new Star Wars Trilogy on the way?

In 1983, Star Wars was also looked at as a cheap, merchandise-driven money-making empire. It was seen as diluted and hollow, an excuse to sell toys. And it was considered a cult, nerd-like thing the way ST was seen at the time.

My memories of '83 in Northern Ireland SW had fans of all types. In my school the Skin-heads to the nerds all considered SW cool...it was just the nerds who liked Star Trek. Maybe it was different in other parts of the world, but SW back then broke the mold in making sci-fi cool, thats why most sci-fi now are blockbusters.

Yeah, Puggo, you're misreading what the "purist edition" is.  It's "Revisited" - still a fan edit - but with some of the less really radical changes.

Ok, I stand corrected on that count.  However, if I understand correctly, both the "Purist" and "Revisited" versions remove many of the SE changes, and the "Purist" version removes many of the "Revisited" changes as well.  So although they both are fan edits and contain changes made by Adywan, it could be said that "Revisited" is more of a fan edit than "Purist".  So by Crygor's standards, "Purist", being less of a fan edit (given his contention regarding the relative merits of fan edits) would be the preferred version by definition. Still seems relevant to the topic. Sorry to play devil's advocate :)

Here is the list of the changes that Ady made to the 2004 SE version Link

Some of the changes he made, he adjusted back to the style of the Original for the Purist Version for example: returning the order of Ben & Luke's conversation in Bens home, taking out Prequel music in the duel between Darth & Ben....just a few changes that people on the forum had problems with, so the Purist still contains over 140 changes. Both versions still contain most of the SE changes, bar the Jabba scene, Greedo shooting & the 'comedy' scenes when we arrive at Mos Eisley.
