That is certainly not blowing about in the wind. That is the three legged version and those things are pretty heavy, even if it didn't have the mechanics in it. For the wind to move something like that then it would have been strong enough to blow Alec's wig off and you can see that the wind isn't very strong at all. More likely that it's a crew member moving the R2 unit to give it the wobble effect that kenny gave the two legged version

You are probably right Ady (Alec's wig...made me laugh!),.....yeah likely was someone there trying to put some life into Artoo.

I'll stabilise Artoo & see how that looks.

Thanks Angel for posting Darth Venal's pics......they do look perfect....Ben's hut just looks more authentic....in keeping with the rest of the movie.

Yeah, I was thinking of keeping it as though he was nervous, but the more I see the clip, the more it cheapens the scene....it gives it away that he was just set there, with no Kenny to weigh him down.

I've been reading through this thread and I noticed all Darth Venal's mock-up images have gone, I remember they were very good, does anyone have them saved?....especially Ben's hut.....I've been noting a lot of the suggestions.

Let's get back on topic on the blu-ray box set which deleted scenes are you most looking forward to the most? For me it's Luke putting together his lightsaber from ROTJ and the wampa attack from ESB as well as the endor bunker scene from ROTJ as well as any of the deleted scenes from A New Hope and the prequel films.

Yes, the extras stuff is the only thing i'd be interested in seeing of the new set, I would be interested in seeing 'The Making of Star Wars' narrated by William Conrad (I know it's on youtube) but it would be good to see it again in good quality.......but alas I won't be buying the set for one disc.....Xtravision (owned by Blockbuster) may have the box set for rent...dunno

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

LOL I thought harmy found the humdinger first?

Yeah, canofhumdingers discovered the glitch on Harmy's Despecialized edition, and brought it to his attention thinking it was a problem in Harmy's encoding.

Harmey then did the research and discovered this bad frame was evident on all releases of the film produced since the 2004 remasters

So I personally consider that Harmy should be partially credited in the potential of this discovery.

The millennium falcon enters way to boring into the hangar. a well placed angle is more interesting.

While I was looking at this, why are the Falcon's engines still fired up when it is being pulled into the Death Star, Han does say "I'm on full power kid, I'm gonna have to shut down"

Maybe during the top shot I could power her down.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

Look, I know I'll probably get shot down for this,....I've probably been living in Jaitea's world for a while...but I've just had a moment of clarity....you guys have probably already seen it, but all this Lucasfilm reluctance all makes sense to me now.

Lucasfilm decides to release special editions of the Original Trilogy at the end of the Ninety's.....this would require the films to be digitally scanned, (don't know what resolution but lets say 2k) this new canvas would allow them to digitally paint whatever they thought would enhance the movies and test the procedure for the upcoming pre-sequels.

Jump forward a few years,...the prequels have been released and some backlash has been noted on the Original Trilogy, Lucasfilm still hasn't released the films on DVD yet, and with the imminent arrival of a High-Definition DVD on the horizon, they feel that the OT SE's need further tweaking....but first the movie needs cleaned of any dirt & scratches on the print....so they send them off to world renowned digital restoration experts Lowrey Digital.

Rather than giving Lowrey the original film, like everyone else does...they give them one they've scanned themselves.....and doodled on.....

This is why we have substandard blu-rays....not equal to the high standard of other High-Def remasters.

So....sorry that I've probably just reiterated what you guys already know....but I just had to say it.

The lens could do with adjustment. It looks too dark to sit the rest of the head, I'd try lowering the contrast on the whole area a little and see if that helps.

It will be a real bugger replacing every shot with Artoo's lens in shot (best of luck).

That I think is the only time in the saga you can clearly see that they replaced his normal lens with some sort of light defuser (paper or gauze) to make it glow right.

No need to replace any other shot

No Angel, thats just 1 pass including multiple light sources, shadows set to hard, rendered with motion blur & engine lights pointing directly at camera with lens flare......I'll try it again but in multiple passes & as you say render in 2k then down res it for project, the Death Star is still....& planet does pan slightly, so perhaps a slow scale for Death Star.

Any ideas of anything more menacing than a needle for the Torture Droid, perhaps a dentist tool

I would be guarded about the bleached out engine details on the Star Destroyer.

In the original footage the engine details were obscured by engines in motion but the way the model has been presented here the engines look like more white discs which reduces some of the impact.

I know Bingo.....I'm not 100% happy with the way I've used that CG model, gonna re-structure how I did that shot.......the main thing I'm striving to do is not having things being obviously CG....Gonna think....

Angel's suggestions should work.

Jaitea you are going to be doing an ANH edit with Ady's Revisited as a base?

I'm watching at work so I don't know if you also have Ady's Empire theme music in there.

Yeah, basically I'm trying to remove most of the SE elements that LucasFilm added....(apart from Falcon firing up in Mos Eisley, some of Mos Eisley & X wing improvements.....maybe some more bits.....can't remember).....but keeping most of the fixes and additions Adywan did.

I don't know, maybe I've seen the original movie that many times that I always get taken out of the movie now by any of the SE elements, but strangely not by Adywan's additions.....they settle into the movie, almost as though they were filmed back in the 70's.
