You don't know the Red Letter Media Prequel reviews?!?

[EDIT] Oh, I realized this is an edited version. All the Plinkett private stuff is missing.

If you go over to RedLetterMedia.com they will remove any positive feelings for the prequels, I think really thats why I don't think they exist anymore......they also tear apart recent movies, Iron Man 3, The new Superman Movie,.....they also pointed out all the bad parts in Prometheus, but in the end (in a very Jeremy Clarkson way) said that besides those flaws....they loved it

Angel is an old friend of mine, he has a very unique style, we bump into each other on different sites, I do know that he still is doing concept paintings & has acquired skills in CG animation....His Deviantart blog shows that he is currently solely working on ANH, if you look at the ROTS section there is concepts in conjunction with Aalenfae

If you mean grain, that's the fault of some studio's overuse of noise reduction, not the format itself.

Isn't film grain just a natural occurrence on film, it becomes more noticeable depending what film stock you use or what film format....16mm film when blown up on a projection screen would have more grain evident.

I think when TPM was released on BD the digital scan was processed and cleaned up so much (DNR) that it not only removed grain but also removed so much detail that it made the characters look like waxworks

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

Wouldn't it be cool if the new movie starts of right at the end of ROTJ while the Emperor is electrocuting Luke.....Vader says his big "No,ooooooooooooooo!" lifts Palpy and throws him over the edge......but this time the camera follows The Emperor down.....his force lightning blows up a power source which blows him sideways onto another platform......as he slowly drags himself to the lift he sees the lift is operating....it's Luke & Vader making their escape.....he franticly calls the lift and eventually it returns.

Palpy makes it back up to the Throne Room and activates his emergency escape.....the entire Throne Room detaches from the tower......and the Emperor is away.....just before the Death Star explodes......he gasps "I'll get you Skywalker,.....just you wait!"

...........Na....thats shite

Just had a thought, I can't remember the plot of Star Trek Into Darkness, I enjoyed it at the time, but now I'm starting to think that the film wasn't that great at all, fantastic effects, but really stupid film, who's fault was that, the writer obviously, but it was JJ's movie

I've got a bad feeling about this, I hope it passes

Sorry DuracellEnergizer, my misunderstanding, I never read any of the EU books

Owyn_Merrilin said:

Edit: Also with the whole Sith thing, Timothy Zahn mentions something kind of cool in the annotated version of Heir to the Empire, which is that when he was writing the book, nobody aside from Lucas himself actually knew what a Sith was -- for all anyone knew, it could be a species or a group that Vader ruled over in his spare time. He actually wanted the Noghri to be called the Sith, and he described them to look kind of like Vader's armor, and imply that it was based on them, but Lucas nixed the name. It's also why older EU novels were so big on the phrase "dark Jedi." The writers weren't entirely sure what a Sith was, so they went with something a bit more simple and descriptive, starting with Zahn.

I remember thinking when I was a kid that perhaps Vader was an alien or a person from a planet called Sith, but when the back-story of Vader being badly burned by lava whilst battling with Obi-Wan at a volcano, I do remember deciding that Sith must be a Jedi who uses the dark side, I've never read any Timothy Zahn books

An evil Jedi is not a Sith.

There could be many evil Jedi (Jedi turning bad), but two Sith at a time, according to Yoda (who is in fact George Lucas here...)

But an evil Jedi can become a Sith (or not. He can just stay an evil Jedi).

I know but right from the start in all the merchandising & promotion in 1977 Darth Vader was known as 'Dark Lord of the Sith'......I had a T-shirt with that on it in '77

Sith wasn't mentioned on film till episode 1 in '99, but between '77 and then, if you were into SW you knew a Jedi gone bad was a Sith,...and back then you could probably have a whole host of them

SDCC news - OUT "quite likely" on Blu-ray
Time

Official announcement:

http://starwars.com/news/star-wars-blu-ray-dvd-combo-packs-coming-october-8.html

Time to cash in on the 'SD-DVD only' market out there, I still am more hopeful that the OUT will come out in a few years.....perhaps the OT was being prepared for the now cancelled 3D transfer....would they have announced that the OUT was being scanned at a high resolution, not likely.

Now that George has retired and with the current attitude shown towards his tinkering of the OT, the cancelling of The Clone Wars, the franchise moving into overdrive with a more OT style 'Rebels' cartoon, perhaps the live-action series being picked up by Disney, spin-off films (with hopefully OT characters) & the new ST.....its clear to see that Disney has jettisoned the lame and knows the strength in its purchase......and what started it all?....Star Wars

As it currently sits, it is in poor quality with embarrassing SE additions that anyone with a bit of sense cannot bear to watch, prefering to watch Adywan's or Harmy's versions......Disney will convince Fox to re-release the Classic versions (how much control George still has in that decision no-one knows)

Similarly Star Wars was about one man and his friends caught up in wars in the stars.

It then turned into a soap opera, The Skywalkers.

It would be interesting to subvert that and in doing so get back to the one man (or woman) and his (or her) friends caught up in wars in the stars again.

Yeah, that's what made it so great, but now there'll likely be more Skywalkers (it'll perhaps be like when the new series of Dallas returned......the new Ewings!!)

Fang Zei said:

They're most likely gonna try and recapture the feel of the original film. Darth Vader wasn't a "Sith Lord," he was just a cool bad guy in black armor.

Fang Zei said:

It was never mentioned in dialogue that Vader was a Sith.

But Vader was never just a guy.....in SW it was established that he turned to evil whilst training to be a Jedi, he strangled an officer 'magically' he used a red laser-sword instead of a gun.....he was a evil Jedi....who are called Sith.....even back then.

I do agree with you though, Ben tells Luke that lightsabers were from a more civilized age, in the OT the only people using this weapon after Ben's death were Vader & Luke, so perhaps in the new film lightsabers should be perhaps only shown in training, blasters etc were the prefered weapons in the OT.

Hopefully we can have a break from the Sith in the new movie.....until perhaps a pupil decides to take the quick & easy route to the Force for the rest of the new trilogy

Neverar, that's actually reminiscent of the original plan for the ST circa 1980. Wasn't Luke gonna defeat the emperor and vader in VI and then go off and find the actual real big baddie in VII or am I remembering wrong?

I think that the "original" Lucas plan was to reveal the Emperor at the end of the third trilogy, Episode 9. The Sequel Trilogy would also focus on Luke's search for his twin. Of course, Episode 6 ruined this plot, but I think that the Emperor reveal could still work if the Episode 6 Emperor was a clone.

And for those who say this change would render most of Episode 6 pointless, I would say that Episode 6 would become much more like Episode 5 in tone. It allows for a triumphant victory if you wish to end the story at Episode 6, but when you see Episode 7, you are forced to reexamine one of the main weaknesses of Episode 6 - the frankly unbelievable defeat of the Empire - as the villainous masterstroke that it could potentially be.

Yeah, and maybe a third Death Star as well? ;)

I'd be VERY disappointed if the Emperor returns as a clone.....lazy,.....new trilogy, new ideas

I actively remember never seeing it before the DVD and reading about the scene existing.

But then I saw Bob Peck turn into a tree.

I've never seen anyone turn into a tree, but I have seen someone turn into a driveway:)

I only saw ROTS once (& that was enough) I remember hoping to see the Yoda scene, but it didn't happen (UK)
