"ADigitalMan's Superman Redeemed"

This edit redeems the better scenes of Superman III and IV, by reworking the two story lines
into a single plot. (And some bits borrowed from deleted material).

Running Time: 1 hour 32 minutes & some seconds, counting the credits.
Stats: NTSC, Anamorphic, menued, 5.1 audio.
Covers: ADM's own official covers.
Size: 3.74 GB (4,018,889,029)

ADM's description:

This project of pure insanity presents a hybrid cut of Superman III and IV, with elements
of all four films worked in. I had the crazy concept for this film after watching them for
the first time since I was a kid. Though they're both miserably wretched to watch, they
do have some fantastic elements in them. III had the great stuff with Lana in Smallville,
plus the classic good vs. evil Superman battle. IV had a great concept with Superman trying
to disarm the world and Lex trying to capitalize on it, but the FX were miserable, the
action sequences were misguided, Lenny was annoying, and the whole Lacy plot was nothing but
superfluous padding. It would have been a great movie of the week in the early 80s at best.

Was there enough salvagable material in these two, and could it be constructed into a
working plot? I wasn't even sure going into it, but I thought so. When I realized that the
Paris sequence from Lester's SII could be the lynchpin of the story, it all fell into place.
The end result is surprisingly coherent and entertaining. Some bad FX still remain, and a
couple of disjointed cuts were inescapable, but it's better than sitting through those two
films in their entirety ever again. Just as the character of Superman is redeemed in the
junkyard, so do these two junky films get redeemed, leaving a more fitting legacy for
Christopher Reeve. Hence the name: Superman Redeemed.

I could detail the edit, but I think I'll let it speak for itself. A few notes though:
1) A healthy dose of the STM Original Soundtrack helps to patch scenes together and punch others up.
2) Lenny doesn't bust out Lex, Miss Tessmacher does while Otis looks on, dumbfounded. It was great to put these characters into this film. Thank you Donner Cut Deleted Scenes!
3) Brando is heard.
4) Darth Editous is the coolest guy on this board. One key shot still had Richard Pryor in it, which I was prepared to accept after my slipshod attempts at digital character removal. Then DE offered to fix this and presented the result in less than a day. As Clark would best say it: "Golly, what a swell guy!"

Time
Looking forward to carving out some time to watch this one, as I haven't summoned the strength to watch the Matrix Sequels, yet, (I've had them on and wandered in and out) and I didn't watch any edits, either. I'll watch this edit first.

Thanks to everyone who seeded & shared the torrent, while I was geting it.

Heads up: almost fully posted to the newsgroups (just the last few pars going up). Alt.binaries.dvd, alt.binaries.dvd5, and the nzb crossposted to alt.binaries.nzb.

Alien is on my short list of favorite movies!

And the others weren't a waste of my time.

I'll especially be looking forward to seeing "Giger's Alien", he is an underutilized artistic genius.

I am eager to post this to the newsgroups as soon as I can get it!

Meedermow, I've emailed you some dumb questions, as I'm having trouble keeping my PM's emptied.

Spence says:

Hey folks, Spence here.

I've been working on a revised version of my fan edit of The Matrix Squared. This version
is more cleaned up, getting rid of the technical glitches and other things that bothered me.

This is essentially the same edit as the first version of Matrix Squared, it's just
cleaned up and better.

If you don't know what Matrix Squared is it, is a fan made edition of The Matrix Reloaded
and The Matrix Revolutions into one film, also including scenes from Enter The Matrix and
The Animatrix. It removes a lot of subplots and side characters and rearranges things to
make a new sequel to The Matrix. The basic plot is the same, but now you can get the full
story in one sitting.

the final run time on this is 2 hrs. 33 min. considering the two sequels were over two
hours a piece, this is a pretty good running time.

This is a DL full quality dvd. It includes these special features:

2 alternate endings
deleted fight sequences.

If you like this fan edit, check out some of my other work:

King Kong
King Kong ver. 2.0 (same edit but featuring extended edition scenes)
Daredevil
Silent Hill
The Amazing Spider-Man

Ulead MediaStudio Pro v8.0 serious problem - FILE READING ERROR
Time
Mp3's can be encoded various ways. Maybe it can't handle that swapped one.

I'd try moving that swapped mp3 to another folder, first, and see if the save will load without it. If it loads to that point, cancel looking for the mp3, and see if it finishes loading.

If it loads without the mp3, then make the mp3 a wav, and put it back into the project.

If it fails, try it without other files, one at a time.

There's always the possibility that the save files are boned, regardless, but it's worth trying.

How to extract BTM lost scenes?

Well, after messing around with my folders and everything, I finally GOT THEM! Well, almost, anyway. I've got the video saved as an AVI, but, for some strange reason, there's no audio! Now what? Perhaps the good Lord doesn't want me to get these.

I don't know about the good Lord, but I'm sure Goodlord doesn't want you to have them. At least that's what I call Lucas, now. Ya see, every time he does something, lately, I say "Oh goodlord!", and well, the name kinda stuck.

Some people on that LucasForums had the same trouble. That guy's extractor utility might've had a bug.

If it would help, I could give you links for a Rapidshare download of Laserman's extraction. It'd be the whole thing though, 7 rar files containing his original rar files. PM me if you think it'd help. His files are the .ZIM.

Silent Hill (Released)
Time
I bought a used dvd, so I could have this. Naturally, I watched the edit first.

IMO, your edit is best way to see the movie, for the first time. It's a lot more intense and disorienting, to see her story, straight through, without explanatory interruptions from the real world.

Nitpick: there were a couple of jumps in the music. I think the music was similar enough that it might've blended successfully, with several seconds of audio crossfade. I don't recall if the footage could've been trimmed enough to to allow long crossfades, though.

I posted this to the newsgroups - a.b.dvd, a.b.dvd5, and the nzb is crossposted to a.b.nzb.

"A Digital Man's Superman II: The Hybrid Cut"

A combination of the Lester & Donner cuts. The goodies were combined, the crap was ditched,
and continuity was ensured.

Running Time: 129 minutes
Stats: NTSC, Anamorphic, menued, 5.1 audio.
Covers: ADM's own official covers, and Kracker's
Size: 4,682 Megs (got this way wrong in the dvd-rom nfo)
Extras: "CGI Villians" Slideshow

http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=2474&STARTPAGE=1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADM's description:

Superman II: The Hybrid Cut
Yep, like half the planet, I've done my own re-edit of Superman II using the parts I like best.
After years of petitioning, begging and pleading, fans of Superman got what they asked for.
In November of 2006, the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II finally became a reality.
But it turned out the Holy Grail really was just a plain ol' cup. Sadly, Donner's Cut was
so focused on removing the elements of Lester's film that they failed to acknowledge the
genuine contributions Lester did make to the Superman II. Most notably, a coherent ending,
not recycled from what ultimately climaxed the first film, original intent or not.
Imperfect though it was, the Donner Cut did give fans what they wanted most: The long lost
footage of Brando, and all the original scenes with the cast we grew to know and love, in
context for the most part. In some ways, it is superior, and in others, it is inferior to
the Lester Cut. The ideal cut lies somewhere in between. Thus, this fan edit merely tries
to make the best story out of all the elements.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Specifically to my edit:

1) Alternate version of "Planet Krypton" cue by John Williams opens the film.
2) Non kills the guard, Zod Breaks the crystal and the rings come down. Cut to:
3) Brando asking the council to pronounce judgment.
4) As Phantom Zone speeds away, Krypton Explodes and Alexander Salkind credit speeds out of this. Credits are from Donner Cut.
5) Zoom into earth cuts to the tail-fire of the XK-101 Rocket with Supes chasing it.
6) Lots of bad CGI removed. Rocket Explodes, shattering Phantom Zone from Lester Cut but with "FREE!" mixed in. Fade out as Villains fly to the moon.
7) Fade in on Metropolis Street vendor, then cut to Perry reading the paper.
Lois Jumps. Bad eye-beam shots removed. Awning was always open.
9) Extended Prison sequence
10) Moon, with "curl" discussion back at Mission Control. Hairdryer line cut.
11) Donner's getaway.
12) Tour of the honeymoon suite.
13) Heading North
14) Falls rescue is a hybrid of the two cuts, with Lois noticing Clark's absence reinstated.
15) Donner's version of Lex in the fortress
16) Pink Bear scene, trimmed down.
17) Heading South
1 Non picks up the snake, but only ponders it.
19) Superman takes Lois to the fortress, picks up flowers and dinner.
20) Ursa arm wrestles.
21) Dinner. No sex with Lois while super-powered. No Kryptonite condoms in this story.
22) Brando depowers Superman. Nookie afterward.
23) Donner cut for a long long time, until ...
24) "Care to step outside?"
25) Donner cut Metropolis battle and Fortress
26) Arctic Police, Smallville line removed (with a fantastic musical edit behind this whole scene)
27) Fortress NOT destroyed. Cut straight to the kiss.
2 Tearful farewell on terrace
29) Memory Kiss
30) Elevator Bully
31) Diner Bully
32) Flag Flying High, end credits.
*) Plus, I've included a bonus slideshow of "Mr. Thau, Please Create In CGI Villains Rule The World Scene?" images by yours truly.

Fan-edit of "Silent Hill", by Spence (who has also edited King Kong (V1 & V2), Alexander,
The Matrix Squared Revised (Reloaded & Revolutions), Daredevil, Spiderman 1, and Pirates of the Carribean).

By focusing on Rose's story, the experience is more intense and disorienting. Christopher's
story plays after the credits, along with the original ending.

Stats: NTSC, Anamorphic, menued, DD 2.0
Covers: Kracker's.
Size: 2.556 Megs

Spence's description:

I like it, it's simple changes that i think help the film with pacing and atmosphere.
Everything Sean Bean does is not particularly important to Rose's story in silent Hill,
and i like that now, once she enters silent hill, you're stuck there with her.
I also removed the confusing ending (which i dont particularly dislike, it just doesnt
necessarily work with this edit). The film now ends with Rose and her duaghter leaving the
town in their car, with a sinister look at the evil child. You'll see. Anyway, I like it.

Beginner need help with DVD decrypter File Mode
Time
What Windows do you have?

If you have XP (or NT, or 2000), you can make it NTFS, no sweat.

If you have Windows98, or ME, then you are stuck with Fat32, (you can still create a file that's about 4 Gigabytes, but you can't copy a file that's more than 2 Gigabytes. Some programs can't work with files over 2 Gigs, either).

I just ripped a US Phantom Menace Extras Disk, to a Fat32 disc, using File Mode with "Split to File", and it worked.

I tried it with "None", and it still worked. (The files were still well under 4 Gigs).

I dont' know if you need to have an un-split file for SubRip, or not.

But you must have NTFS for regular editing. If you split files in IFO mode, then Womble can't fix chunks any after the first one.

In any case, it sounds like you may have a bad spot on D:, and Dvd-Decrypter thinks you are running out of space.

So you need to scan D: for errors:

For Windows 98:

Right-click your D: drive.

Select "Properties".

Click the "Tools" tab.

Click the "Error Checking" button.

Put a checkmark in "Thorough"
"(performs Standard test and scans disk for errors)".

Punch "OK".

It will take a very long time. Let it run overnight if it has to.

For Windows XP:

Right-click your D: drive.

Select "Properties".

Click the "Tools" tab.

Click the "Error Checking" button.

Put a check-mark in "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".

Punch OK.

This will take a while, but only a fraction as long as it would on 98.
