I thought that too except about Phantom Menace until i saw the awful redone colors and DNR on Attack of the Clones, a digitally shot movie. The 4K is a mess. The 2011 blu has more detail in places. Lucasfilm keeps making these ridiculous mistakes with releases going back to 2004.

The 4K of Phantom Menace looks waxy and smeary in places like a 1080P HDCam and not a movie shot on 35mm motion picture film.

I think with the Filoni movie i just no longer care. Luke, Han and Leia can show up deaged and i’m already more than half completely done with Star Wars. I’m sticking around for Andor. Or for the potential of episodes 10 11 and 12. Maybe the Rey movie depending on whether its compelling. But sick of the marvelization of SW.

I’m kind of sick of Filoni/Favreau Mandoverse.

Once again no news about the Original Original Trilogy. But thanks for the wrap up anyway.

Can you believe Star Wars is 50 in 2027, I remember the 30th like it was yesterday we got the Rinzler book and no film.

This appears to be its own release. The Hong Kong release is uncut with Cantonese subtitles and is the same master as the US VHS Pan and Scan.

It’s also an officially licensed release. Not a bootleg. Very strange indeed, but this was for the South Korean consumer or rental market I assume.

I’d be super grateful if you could do such a preservation.

The Pan and Scan THX master has only been preserved as VHS.

And no one has done the Korean or Hong Kong release.

Gout is better than composite master its component d1 master tape, but its not suitable in modern parlance for anything.

its 4:2:2 Component. Most laserdisc masters were composite D2 tape. and some were Digibeta. No theater is showing a laserdisc.

Only FOTR extended has a 35mm scan so far.
In theory it’s possible that someone will find a TTT extended print and have it scanned.
In theory it’s NOT possible that someone will find a ROTK extended print and have it scanned, as 35mm prints were never created in the first place.

Note, I have no personal knowledge about this stuff, I’m just repeating what I’ve read from others since these scans had become available.

I’m of this opinion as well seeing how Kathy talked about the Shawn Levy movie in her interview.

This film has had no real news for quite some time and has absolutely no buzz and no traction.

I sort was wanting to see what they came up with, I mean Steven Knight is talented, but they aren’t going to use his script. Sounds an awful lot like his Man of Steel 2 script that was not produced. DC went with James Gunn instead in that case and a total reboot.

Did Asimov find it flattering when Lucas borrowed from His Empire and Foundation books.

I know Lucas also read the Lensman and Skylark series from Edward Elmer Smith and Dune by Frank Herbert, and he had read the Martian stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs that feature John Carter. And he read Tarzan.

I was always wondering if the Imax would ever surface for this. The film reels would be massive in size.

All I’ve ever seen were overpriced film cels of the Star Destroyer cut from a print.

That is the Seito Style A. Its on the Japanese Story of Star Wars Vinyl Album. You can’t really find all that much out about the artist but he did a Flesh Gordon poster, Conan the Barbarian, and a Roger Moore 007 poster. As well as Death Race 2000 and Gone in 60 Seconds.

I’ve never understood this complaint about the prequels. Now, I think the art direction for the PT is definitely off in many regards; there should’ve been a more retro-futuristic/fantasy aesthetic than what was presented. But being set before the dark times, things should look new and shiny.

You’d be correct about Coruscant. But there should be dirty and lived in worlds like Kashyyyk and Tatooine. And Naboo would be Art Nouveau and renaissance. With some Asian inspired culture. Tibetan.

The design of the Jedi robes and lightsabers would be more spartan as they are about blending in with the people and wear the robes of commoners. Farmers.

The Underworld of Coruscant for instance would be seedy and dirty. The metropolis of the seat of government would be futurist and clean and antiseptic.

I need to see more to make a criticism, the trailer was no more than a taste. I was not thrilled or moved by it. But I’m also not one of those people who will attack those who will derive genuine enjoyment from this show.

The title is kind of strange though it does remind me of George’s unmade tv series Star Wars underworld.

Leia was implied to be force sensitive in a draft of Star Wars. She knew the art of Mind control. I do believe Lucas was thinking Bene Gesserit. Third Draft.

That is Gainax and Anno. Who went on to do Evangelion and Shin Godzilla. Who is supposed to be doing Gundam now,lol. He also was doing a Space Battleship Yamato film for the 50th anniversary but I have no idea what happened to that.

Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan Anamorphic first issue DVD. Super grainy picture and its DVD so its highly compressed in picture and audio. The print negative damage and color shift is obvious. I did watch it because unlike the 4K it has the original mix even if it’s in lossy 2.0 Dolby surround format. And i did not want to hook up my old tv and get my laserdisc player working and search for the Star Trek 1-5 box set to find my letterbox copy of ST II.

The original Empire Strikes Back being released and preserved should be dedicated to him, Jason Wingreen, and Jeremy Bulloch. But Lucas will never allow it. 2030 will be the 50th anniversary. It’s almost criminal the 20th anniversary happened in 2020 with little to no fanfare and no film.

I was kind of shocked when I saw the prequels because I interpreted the Jedi to be like the Knights Templar mixed with Samurai, and a bit of the Lensman of the Galactic patrol thrown in.

I never pictured them as celibate monks in a political structure like the Vatican. I pictured them as having families, the EU strengthened this belief.

Warriors that can put down rebellions and can end conflicts but don’t seek them out because they are peacekeepers. And negotiators. Their entire bodies and minds are sharp and honed like a weapon, but they only use a lightsaber in defense, never for violence as its own end. The Sith use violence and intimidation to rule.
