I have Mando Season 3 and Ahsoka sitting on my shelf, Willow is in the mail. Weather permitting it should be here in 3 days. I also added Fifth Element and Heavy Metal 4K. I’m upset that Heavy Metal 2000 is just a blu-ray though. It would have been a stellar deal for 20 dollars for both films in 4K. Fifth Element was so cheap it was ridiculous I paid more the DVD when it first came out.

Clone Wars isn’t a part of EU though it contradicts EU and the lore and canon established. The Genddy series fits in EU. Filoni does not. They could do all the edits they wanted to try to bring Filoni into EU before it was moved to legends and they never worked. I always despised the Mortis arc in EU. It made Crucible a novel not worth reading.

As to whether they never brought Hayden in to dub Anakin in the cartoons I have no idea why? I do enjoy Matt Lanter so much more than Hayden it’s another level. But Hayden was so good in the new shows. Why didn’t that show in the prequel. Except in some places, it’s like George had him read his lines with as little emotion as possible flat and bored.

Of all the things i dislike about Disney’s handling of Luke the worst was teaching Grogu about attachments like a prequel Jedi, not my Luke. Rey forgoing the teachings on attachment would be a start.

OT Luke and EU was never afraid of attachments. I mean i know those prequel films happened but seriously it never existed in lore before the prequels. Except in the screenplay draft of Star Wars from 1974.

Everything i love about episode 8 isn’t Luke becoming a prequel Jedi and a failure just like them repeating their mistakes and following the same narrow dogma.

Its the astral projecting bit, it’s the rebellion is reborn today and I won’t be the last jedi. Its the part of explaining the force is bigger than the light and the dark. Its bigger than the Sith and the Jedi. Its in all living things and defines the cosmos. Also Luke finally realizing how wrong the Jedi were but being too old and broken to make a change. So Rey has to take up the lightsaber instead. That i don’t know if its good or bad i’m split on that.

Edit: also please no More Death Stars. No return to Tattoine.

I love these ideas. Thrawn would have been perfect, but they’ve used him up. I would have preferred him or another warlord or Moff or even A Crimson Dawn or Black Sun, over another Sith.

Maybe even someone like like Tarkin but not Tarkin.

I still wonder if people would want Darth Maul as the new Sidious, a femme fatale apprentice. and a midichlorian story nobody liked that in the prequel. The story of the Whills, Luke training younglings.

The only net positive I can think of is a successful Jedi Order and New Republic government. With Leia as chancellor. And Luke replacing Yoda as the head of the new order.

I just don’t see Darth Maul as a threat to Luke’s authority and power. Not when Obi-Wan dispatched him so easily in Phantom Menace. Any rebellion of Stormtroopers and New Sith shouldn’t be too hard to deal with. With hundreds of Jedi and a giant galaxy wide government.

I think Rey does what Luke did in the EU and restores the Jedi. A lot of people are going to hate that. Its going to take some deft storytelling to win people over. I’m half convinced it won’t work, but flip a coin, I want to see them make a valiant effort to at least make it so Han, Leia and Luke’s deaths had meaning. My problem with ROS was the galaxy was in the same place as at the end of ROTJ except worse. No hope for Democracy, no Republic restored. Jedi order all but snuffed out. Every Skywalker is dead. What happened to the Empire, is the First Order really defeated forever, are the Sith finished for good. None of these were answered.

The galaxy’s only hope is a Palpatine. And her friend’s Poe, and Finn and Rose.

I’m getting to the point where I wholly dislike legacy franchises and their continuations and reboots, or remakes. and fans need in general to recapture their childhood.

I guess I could change my opinion at some point, what I mean is the disillusionment with Disney Star Wars because it didn’t give us the Luke Skywalker people wanted. and the years of caterwauling and the complaints.

The stagnation of creating nothing new. media going backwards, Science fiction and fantasy film de-evolving. Young people getting my childhood remade and repurposed instead of getting original content.

I found my tapes held together with that carboard band. I suppose this was the first trilogy bundle?

I opened them sealed years ago just to check them but never watched them. I was really excited when I found that at the top of my closet in my bedroom. In a box with the Ewok DVD and the Droids movie edit Pirates and the Prince. And some 80s probably late 80s Raiders and Temple of Doom tapes.

I wonder which mix is on Star Wars. It can’t be the THX cause it’s too early, maybe the Ben Burtt digital mix.

And how ridiculous it is to just upgrade one film to Atmos, have one film have its original audio in an expensive box set. and the rest to just have the blu-ray mixes from 2009.

Where do they draw the mythic beginnings of the Jedi and Sith from. If they threw out the entire EU. Do they just reimagine Star Wars from its origins. I doubt it since they already used up the term Bendu for something completely unrelated to the original concept of Jedi Bendu Knights and the Ashla Vs the Bogan and the Sith Dark Side.

And of course the founder of the Sith Darklighter George just used that for Biggs last name.

Can someone explain why everyone thinks Mace is this badass lightsaber duelist. He went out in a very weak way. Blown out a window due to unlimited power. After Anakin chopped his hand off.

All I know is he knew they bought Pixar a former Lucas company from Steve Jobs, he liked what they did with Pixar and he seemed to like what they did with Marvel and thought they honored Stan Lee. He thought they’d treat him good and make his sequel treatments as movies. Kathy Kennedy said all the right things. Bob Iger promised a handshake agreement, but it wasn’t legally binding. and Lucas thought he could rely on friendship, but he found betrayal.

These kind of acquisitions is what Bob is known for though, buying up IP. Disney made a business decision.

I’m not sure if another company would have done much better. Like say Warner Bros. Look at how messy DC has been.

And 20th Century Fox was absorbed by Disney anyway.

Who would have been a better choice, Lucas said well they have Marvel and Pixar and I trust Bob,lol.

The studio that turned down Star Wars and Back to the Future, and Lord of the Rings. The House of Mickey Mouse.

They made some whoppers of bad decisions in time. But then again United Artists turned down Star Wars the home of James Bond, and Universal who went on to make Battlestar Galactica.

Lucas was selling anyway there never was a chance of him not selling, despite what he told Marcia in the 1980s.

I don’t know what to think. Larry hasn’t written a good script is so long I can’t recall the last film.

We are far removed in time from his writing the Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Big Chill, Continental Divide and the Bodyguard. Silverado, or Wyatt Earp.

I think he was solid in the 1980s-1990s. What other than the dreadful, Dreamcatcher has he written in modern times other than unused draft on Clash of the Titans remake. Without pointing to Disney Star Wars.

You can’t because George Lucas plucked him out of retirement to write the Han Solo movie. And then Kathy put him on episode 7.

Everyone was like ZOMG he should have written the prequel; George is the problem remove him from the equation and hire Larry and we’ll get magic.

Star Wars is from the adventures of Luke Skywalker, with the character dead and retired its run its course.

Except for spinoffs and jumping around in the timeline there is nowhere to go, no story.

And Return of the Jedi is not the issue, the EU went on for 25 years expanding beyond the Star Wars trilogy.

The issue is Disney SW, they have nowhere to go. Except to move beyond the Skywalkers and the sequel trilogy and into the future.

In between VI and VII, or into the future or the past.

It’s a super old almost 50 year old children’s film from 1977, Star Wars. You can only do so much with it, heroes with laser swords and ray guns, space ships. princesses and Wookiees.

Then again with Dune all you have is Arrakis and the Spice. Its a great novel but its also very old.

What we need is fresh IP and new science fiction. Or stuff on film or in television that has never been adapted.

I did see that auction. Scope reduction. color turning red to pinkish. What I made note of was they never mentioned if it’s a stereo or mono print. The original mix allegedly was 4 track stereo.

The ones available I guess they are called grindhouse or preview versions. for all 3 prequels.

The 1080P flavor not 4K I can’t do 4K on my laptop.

EU fans still fighting the canon wars 10 years after the sale to Disney and a whole lot longer since the EU lore was thrown out by Clone Wars in 2008.

I’m a fan of EU, I’m also old enough and adult enough to understand it was nothing but tie in fiction. That came out of Lucas licensing. To pretend that it was ever going to be held up to the same level of a tv series or movie is just lying to oneself. Whether George ever considered it canon or not.

There is no Disney Lucasfilm, there is Lucasfilm. It’s the same company without George Lucas running it. Although it does make it easier to show discontent or dislike for the new stuff to call it Disney Star Wars and makes it easier to compartmentalize.

I do prefer the old legends canon over Disney’s expanded universe. See what I did there.

For me personally if it doesn’t have to be HD the laserdisc. For Phantom Menace.

If I have to watch it in 35mm that exists also.

For II its either the SVCD or 35mm.

III maybe the 35mm but one wipe transition difference isn’t a deal breaker I could always watch the 4K.

Bringing Daisy on stage at celebration to announce a fake movie is beyond insane. To say I’m pissed at Disney once again is understatement. Pulled from 2026 Christmas release is un-freakin believable.

Kathy Kennedy seems to have trouble with Disney and Iger in general with how often he has thrown a wrench into things. Solo flopped lets make Star Wars only for streaming television. We put too much money into the streaming thing lets announce Star Wars returns to theaters.

Too many people second guessing every single decision and corporate strategy changing every few months.

Marvel is the public picture Disney wants to be seen as, Lucasfilm is the example of how not to run a successful company.

I want Lucasfilm to be as good as their reputation was under George Lucas in the good old days. If that is even desirable or possible.

At least it’s not official, not that it gives them much excuse after bringing Daisy on stage for a non made movie which currently has no script and whether the director leaves the project is impending. Well that is for the Rey movie i’ve never seen something so dumb since JJ announced the 4th Star Trek with none of the cast signed. And Kinberg is attached to that as well.

They haven’t said who they are approaching to direct these even if they get made.

There already have been cancelled trilogies like Obi-Wan and The Old Republic.

They said they were done with Saga films and numbered episodes. Whether we actually get episodes 10, 11 and 12 remains to be seen.

Honestly, I wish they wouldn’t announce until they had a director, a locked shooting date and a script. and a release date booked for theaters.

I’ve come to despise the revisionism of pretending it was called A New Hope when in 1977 it was simply Star Wars on the marquee.

I also refuse to call Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
