That is another that I do plan on going back to and seeing what I can do with.
That is another that I do plan on going back to and seeing what I can do with.
After a bit of a layoff, I have pulled out my old edits and have started making some tweaks (hopefully not ala George Lucas). There were some things that I wanted to do when I first was working on these, but didn’t have the confidence to do them properly. Most of these changes involved scenes with green or blue screen. While I incorporated some, there were others that I avoided completely.
The first tweak I am working on is an addition to the DH1 intro. I always wanted to have the full “Dudley Redemption” scene added. I have rendered out an initial cut of the intro with this inserted. I’m not pleased with the music right now, so it will require more tweaks. The only part I have done green screen work on so far is the initial wide shot. Other portions are zoomed in at the moment, which you will be able to see clearly in the quality differences of the footage. I hope to be able to do more green screen work on these portions to increase the quality.
Here is the first draft of this revised intro.
Edited: I closed my Vimeo account in 2020, so these previews have been removed.
Please DO NOT ask for links in this post. I have indicated multiple times that you need to send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE to get links. If anyone posts in this thread for links, I will ignore them.
Happy 4th of July! It is with great pleasure I announce the release of the Half-Blood Prince Extended Edition (Color Corrected Version), the combined Deathly Hallows Extended Edition and DH Extended Edition (Color Corrected Version).
My combined and extended Deathly Hallows edit is nearly completed. I just need to finish captions and do a final viewing. I hope to release it sometime over the 4th of July week. I will also be releasing my Half-Blood Prince color-corrected version as well.
Below is an album showing the 3 main edits that were done to combine the 2 films together.
Edit #1: Moved scene of Snape looking over Hogwarts to earlier in the DH1 portion of the film. This establishes him as the new headmaster. It also goes along with the various other scenes around it (Death Eaters looking for Harry, a Ministry official searching the Grainger’s home).
Edit #2: Moved where Voldemort gets the Elder Wand to between when the three are captured in the woods and when they are delivered to Malfoy Manor. The time of day/skylines seems to match better than leaving it after Dobby dies. It also allows for a straight story between Malfoy Manor, the death and burial of Dobby, and the scenes at Shell Cottage. This edit has been the most controversial of the ones I made. Some of the test viewers did not like Voldemort finding the wand so much earlier. I felt it was necessary to make the story less disjointed.
Edit #3: Blending of the scenes where Dobby dies, is buried, and the story transitions to Shell Cottage. I felt this was the best way to complete the blending of movies 1 and 2 together.

For those that have downloaded the v1.0 captions, unfortunately, you will need to download them again. I found a significant error in the captions for DH2. The time codes for one of the deleted scenes got messed up and was not showing captions properly. I have fixed this and reuploaded the file. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
The updated versions are now available. If you have requested links in the past, the updated versions are at the same links. Each file has “v1.5” at the end to differentiate them from the original edits.
Captions for v1.0 are available here: http://tiny.cc/HPEECaptions
Links to my edits are currently down as I upload a new version of each, v1.5. There are 2 main updates in this version.
CAPTIONS! I have heard from a lot of users wanting captions for these and I finally got some time to put them together. For those that have already downloaded my edits, I will be making the SRT caption files available for you to download so you don’t have to re-download the edits if you don’t want to. With v1.5, the captions are bundled in the M4V file.
Updated audio tracks - In the v1.0 release, I did a dual mono mixdown of audio to 2 channel stereo. While it sounds ok, it was not producing the best sound for those with surround sound systems. So with the testing help of Doctor M (thanks bud!), I did a different mixdown that is an actual stereo mix and works better with surround sound systems.
Those are the only differences. If you have downloaded my edits before and are pleased with them, please hold off downloading the new versions when they are available so it doesn’t kill my hosting sites.
I hope to have links back up by tomorrow and have the caption files available later this week.
I am pleased to announce the release of my 7th Wizarding World extended edition, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Extended Edition. Eight minutes of deleted scenes have been added back into the film.
If you are interested in this film, send me a PM.
There have been tweaks to it since the version I had you test
I am nearing completion of my extended edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I have some final tweaks that I need to make before it is released. Samples of the edits have been uploaded to my Vimeo channel. It should be ready for release sometime later this month.
If you have a surround sound system, I need some testers. I have a short test file that I have created that has a different stereo mixdown with it. I want to see if this mix works better than the current mono mixdown that I have created.
Please send me a PM if you have a system where you can test this for me.
Thanks.
I have only completed subtitles for PoA. The others will get done as I have time to complete them.
Send a PM
I actually made a change to Philosopher’s Stone for my own personal collection. There was one scene in the “official” extended version that always seemed jarring to me. Right before the scene with Dudley, there is a short clip of an owl flying in and perching close to the house. But there is NO music behind it and it sounds horrible. For my personal version, I added music that connects those scenes together. I made some other small changes as well. I have thought of going back and doing my own Chamber edit, but just haven’t done it to this point.
Doctor M,
I haven’t had a chance to look at your edit so far, but I will certainly give it a look. There are definitely some challenges with HBP that I fought with on my edits. I did some green screened scenes in PoA, but I didn’t do much with DH except for some of the green screen areas when the battle begins. At some point once I learn After Effect better I want to see if I can do anything with a couple of scenes that I didn’t work on with these first edits.
Freeform lost the rights to the HP movies on 12/31/17. The rights are currently with NBC Universal and HBO. Currently, HBO has the rights to stream the movies, but they only show the theatrical versions of the films. It is not known at this point whether NBC Universal stations, like USA, will show the theatrical versions or the extended versions when they begin showing them later this year.
Thanks for the feedback on the edits. I have a feeling I know where the gray edges are coming from. I had to insert artificial black bars due to some of the editing I did. I also increased the contrast on those last 3 movies slightly, so the gray bars are likely the original black bars that have been lightened and aren’t fully being covered by the 2.35:1 bars I put on. I can probably put on 2.39:1 bars to fix those. The contrast difference is probably causing the slightly washed out look on colors too. I’ll keep those points in mind for any future edits I may do.
Welcome back, smudger9!!! Awesome to see you back at it.
I have started working on caption files for each of the EE versions. For those that have my edits, you can download these SRT files to add captions to your movies. This first one, Prisoner of Azkaban, is complete. If you are interested, send me a PM for the link.
From post #1: PMs can be sent to me to receive download information.
My edits are only available in M4V format. No disc versions were created.
Digital versions of these 2 films are available on iTunes, VUDU and Amazon Video.
The first 2 movies had official extended versions that were released. That is why I could not release versions of these 2.
From the original post:
PMs can be sent to me to receive download information. You MUST own a legal version of the original movies before downloading. I do not support illegal downloading or viewing of these movies.
