Harry Potter Extended Editions (Released)
Time

I have received some complaints regarding my fanedits, about how they are hosted, how they were rendered, etc. I want to clarify some things regarding my edits so those that request them will not be shocked by how they are set up.

  1. These edits have a STEREO audio output. While I would love to do a 5.1 mix at some point, that is outside of my realm of expertise to take a stereo deleted scene and turn it into a 5.1 mix. I have other editing aspects that I would rather be working on, like adding green screen scenes back in, rather than trying to do audio mixing. I do not have a 5.1 setup to test with, so even if I did a 5.1 mix, I would have no way of knowing whether the changes I made would be good for everyone. So a stereo output is what you will get.

  2. I do not run a torrent server and will not host these on Google Drive. I’m sorry if that is how you want them delivered to you in those ways. I pay monthly for the service that I do use out of my own pocket so those who are interested can download the edits. It costs downloaders nothing to get them. I have them set up to download in chunks so users can download them in pieces rather than trying to download a 10+ GB movie at one time. Not everyone has fast internet, something that is easily forgotten in this day and age. I have set them up so they are convenient for everyone. Please be patient when downloading. If the edits don’t mean enough to you to wait to get them, then don’t download them.

I’m sorry if these are disappointments to some users. They are how I have chosen to present my edits. The snarky remarks I have received over the past week tell me that some think they are entitled to my edits the moment they want them. I edit for myself and for the love of the fan editing community and that is what I try to remember when I get comments like I have this past week. These are likely not going to be what everyone wants. I have provided plenty of sample clips for you to see the edits that were made and what you will get. If these don’t meet the standards that you have or want, don’t request them. I don’t want to waste your time or bandwidth to get something that isn’t “perfect” for you.

nightslakerpoet,

Thanks for the feedback. There were reasons for why those scenes are as they are.

  1. For the first deleted scene you mentioned, I left the dialogue the same because I was trying to allow Ron’s enthusiasm for Hogsmeade to come through by allowing him to repeat the same thing twice and having Harry get tried of hearing it since he had already heard it multiple times. That was the intent.

  2. In the common room scene, Harry is over by the fireplace when Ron and Hermione are arguing about the missing rat. Ron goes to bed while Hermione joins Harry on the couches in front of the fire where they only talk about the Black attack. Harry looks to be consumed with the fact that he could have killed Black. There is no indication that he was aware of the argument Ron and Hermione had. So his questioning Hermione in the next scene seems entirely plausible for me, which is why I left the dialogue as it was.

As the release of Crimes of Grindelwald Extended Edition is nearing, I have made a decision in regards to my edits. I will no longer be producing a 5K bitrate version of my edits. The 10K version is a sharper version and is the one most are downloading. I realize that for those with slow connections it will take longer to download the films. I only have so much space on Mega and the 5K versions are taking up space that I can use for future edits.

5K versions will be taken down this Sunday, June 23.

There are OFFICIAL extended editions of the first two movies. These official cuts contain all of the deleted scenes, so there is absolutely nothing I can add to these. If you want those extended editions, you will need to buy them. I only created extended editions for films that didn’t have ones to start with.

Crimes of Grindelwald is one I debated on for a long time before I decided to do an edit since there was an extended cut that was released. I chose to create one because there were 2 scenes that were not reinserted and because of the addition of the “Deleted Scene” text being placed on the screen in the official extended cut.

The next JJPotter Extended Edition from the Wizarding World is now in progress. I am working on creating my own extended version of Crimes of Grindelwald. There are several scenes that were not used in the official Extended Cut which I plan on incorporating into my EE. This will add another 5+ minutes of footage. My cut will also not have “Deleted Scene” in the bottom left corner of any of the scenes. As I complete inserting the deleted scenes, I will post previews.

Edited: I closed my Vimeo account in 2020, so these previews have been removed.

A viewer recently made a suggestion to me to add some effects to one of the Deathly Hallows deleted scenes to make it more visually appealing and add more action to it. I have been playing around with this scene, the Rabbit Chase scene. Below is the most recent rendering of the scene. This modification is not in any of my current releases, but may appear in a future release.

I’ve had several people ask if I will be doing an extended version of Crimes of Grindelwald when it comes out later this month. I have seen the official extended cut that was put out and apart from a couple of cut scenes, all of the other deleted scenes are already in place. I’m not a fan of them putting “Deleted Scene” in the bottom corner of each when it was inserted into the movie, so I will likely go in overlay clips from the deleted scenes to get rid of that text for my own personal collection. But there really isn’t a lot additional to add in order to release my own version.

I am toying with the idea of using the clips that were not reinserted into Crimes of Grindelwald and insert them into the credits of Fantastic Beasts, since they feel like they belong there more than in the second movie. I just haven’t decided at this point.
