Peut-être que nous trois peuvent aider Ady à faire un nouveau version du film, complètement en français? :p

... Hahem... With a french like this you'll only make the frame spottings... haha!

Besides, I don't watch SW in french. But funny thing, did you ever notice: le gars qui double Darth Vader est celui qui fait la voix de GrosMinet !!!...

...

I'm saying the french dub for Darth Vader is the same voice than for...

Sylvester !!!

Really? I'm french and I never noticed... That's pretty epic!

I think however it would be cool if ESB's french dubbing had some revisiting of its own just for Vader's sake, it's kinda dumb when a character has three different voices in the same movie.

Yes that's how many voices French Vader has currently in ESB : the original one, the "Alert my Star Destroyer" of the SE and the new dialog with the Emperor from the DVD.

Speaking about the galaxy at the end of ESB, I read somewhere that according to Leland Chee (I think it's him), what we see is actually the whole Star Wars galaxy, meaning the rebel fleet is massed outside it somehow.

What doesn't make sense with that is that we get to see a whole lot of stars in the background, yet since we're suppose to be outside of a galaxy, shouldn't there be only black void to be seen?

I didn't find it crappy at all. It doesn't compare to the movies of course, but it was far better than CW 3D in terms of storytelling, and at least it did respect the movies and the EU.

The Genndy cartoon had no storytelling, and it didn't respect the EU all the time (thankfully). As for respecting the movies, both cartoons did. And who cares for the EU?

For the sake of staying on topic, I'm just gonna answer with : opinions vary. And let that be the end of it : a matter of opinion.

As for ESB:R : how about tinting the AT-AT interior in red?

Joking :D

And yes, the crawl does suggest that Luke is the leader.  I think it was hyperbolic thinking, shocking as it might be that GL would allow himself to be self-contradictory!  It's been suggested that GL and only GL wrote all of the crawls for all of the movies.

Well he IS a leader technically. Commander is pretty high rank (the only ranks above that for ground troops are Colonel and General). Even if he does not lead the rebellion or even Echo Base he is a hero for them (shot proton torpedoes in the DS exhaust port without a targetting computer) and a strong symbol of hope ("yay the Jedi are NOT totally gone!")

The rebels don't all take orders from him, but they certainly do look up to him.

Not sure if has been said or pre visualized..will there be anything done in the scene with the bounty hunters.

Add some movements or lights here or there?

Also any IG-88 on bespin?

No idea about the bounty hunter scene.

Why would Ady add IG-88 in Bespin?

For the same reason the Empire had to penetrate the rebel planetary shield with the at-ats in the first place instead of just bombing the base from orbit : a shield generator is meant to stop laser blasts and the like from reaching their target but they can't stop solid moving things, including humans, to go through them.

But, again, AtAt's have no shields. The wookipedia (god that sounds dumb) page says that the only vulnerable spot is the "neck" which is unprotected. Yet they fire at the "body" of the thing.

Sorry you replied while while I was edited my post.

Not quite, if you look closely and frame by frame they fire at the neck.

From what I understand, the fall knocked out the AT-AT's shield generator, allowing it to be destroyed by the Snowspeeders.  Also, when someone refers to "armor", it doesn't always mean just the physical structure.  It can also refer to any protective shielding, since it is in effect part of the vehicle's defenses.

Make sense?

Nice try, but the AtAt's have no shield generators. And If they did, how was Luke able to climb up and cut through the bottom hatch?

For the same reason the Empire had to penetrate the rebel planetary shield with the at-ats in the first place instead of just bombing the base from orbit : a shield generator is meant to stop laser blasts and the like from reaching their target but they can't stop solid moving things, including humans, to go through them.

However, the "official" answer to your original question is that despite its heavy armor an AT-AT has one very weak spot : the flexible and unarmored neck. Which happens to be what the snowspeeders hit right before the walker explodes.

i've sort of fixed it. If you look at the scene a bit earlier in this sequence when Luke loses his balance and Yoda falls, well when you see Yoda get up that is actually the shot of him climbing up onto the mound to raise the x-wing, only they flipped it and moved it earlier. i've moved that back into its rightful place and just need to figure out what to use for the other shot now

I never noticed... Do you figure that because of some detail in the shot or it was explained in some documentary?

Hi Ady.

I noticed something while watching your theatrical restoration, sorry if you've already fixed it or said you couldn't.

As Luke tells Yoda "You want the impossible", Yoda is standing on a flat ground.

Then Yoda starts levitating the X-wing, we don't see him move but next time we see him :

He has been teleported into some kind of... Log or whatever... On a ground higher than the one he was a mere minute before.

The GOUT is a non-anamorphic (it doesn't stretch to fill your HDTV) copy made directly from the files they put on the laserdisc in 1993. It jitters, its blurry, its sad.

This is based on an HD transfer with elements taken either from an upscaled copy of the GOUT or high resolution scans of the original matte paintings.

Thanks for the precision 005. Never seen the DVD GOUT but ADY's version is definitely worthy of DVD quality.

I told a friend about this version recently and he answered "Why the hell did that guy bother doing it? Wasn't there a DVD version of the OT released which contained the GOUT as a bonus disc?"

I'm not sure about this but I think that "official" GOUT DVD wasn't really of the best quality was it? Something to do with the source...

Hey Adi, just checked all the changes in page one and this caught my eyes :

9. Fixing it so the hanger doors only close once.

There's one other thing you could fix here (if you haven't already in which case I apologise for this useless reply :D ) :

Right after those doors have been closed Chewie howls and leans his head on the ladder, as shown below.

In the next scene 3PO tells R2 that Luke will be alright and yadda yadda, and THEN you can see Chewie leaning his head again, just as he did one minute before.

So... Is this a continuity mistake or is it just me?

Hey, Adi. Just went to page one to check the screenshots, great job so far !

I remember a while ago you mentioned you were not too happy with the music playing when Han rides his tauntaun into Echo Base (for a good reason since it's an Imperial theme). Have you found any replacement for that yet? Cause I was recently listening to ESB'S OST and I heard something that seems correct and that is actually not in the movie. It's in the 4th track of the first CD (The Imperial Probe/Aboard the Executor) around 00:54.

Hey Adywan, and before I forget sorry about your nephew.

Here's something I noticed while watching one of your earlier previews and that you might want to tweak : the shot below takes place before the beginning of the battle of Hoth, right after we can see the tiny Imperial walkers in the distant background.

Photobucket

If you look at the background of this shot, you can see what looks like a destroyed defense turret, which seems odd since the battle hasn't started yet. Another strange thing that you can't see on this shot (you'd need to look at a video of it), but there is also some black smoke flowing accross the field of view. Looks to me that this shot was supposed to happen later during the battle and was moved before it.

Very nice job on the colour correction so far.

I don't think that the lightsaber duel between Dooku & Yoda worked though. I think we shouldn't have seen him use a lightsaber until ROTS. I love the part when the troopers approach him from behind and he cuts them down on kashyyyk. Can you imagine how powerful that scene would have been if that was the first time we saw Yoda use a lightsabre? Very true Ady.

I do like the PT but they just don't stand up to the OT. I think all of us here agree on this.

When it came to the 2004 DVD set i hated the new additions along with the horrible colouring of course. I never minded a lot of the SE additions but only things that didn't change characters or story. Greedo shooting first in the SE, the Rontos slapstick & walking in front of the camera in mos eisley, the new Emperors dialogue in 2004, The shuttle scenes at the end of ESB and in Jedi the addition of "Jedi Rocks" in '97, Hayden & the "weesa free" line in 2004. I agree with Greedo, the rontos, the shuttle scene, Jedi rock and "wessa free", but I didn't mind the new EMperor dialogue, and what's wrong with Hayden in RotJ? Why would so many people rather see Sabastian Shaw instead of the yound Anakin we all remember? After seeing him as a child, falling in love, growing up as an excellent Jedi and witnessing his disgrace, seeing him again after being redeemed 3 movies later is so much more dramatic IMO that having some old guy we never saw before.

The whole conversation about the twins mother in ROTJ with Leia remembering her mother is one thing that I'll be fixing in the PT. I know exactly how i will be doing that but you'll have to wait a few years to find out. I can't wait, when I read the first spoilers about Padmé's death in RotS I thought they were fake given how senseless it was.
