When Adywan blew Jah Jah to smitherines on Alderaan in the deleted scenes he clearly expressed a desire... I am only seeking to nurture and develop that desire further.

I pretty sure the scene was more about extending the destruction of Alderaan than showing Jar-jar die. I'm relieved Ady decided not to put it there (for other reasons though). But frankly, if that scene with Jar-jar in it had ended up in the edit it would have ruined it.

You can't just keep saying things like "one of the worst things about the PT is Jar-jar binks" and then find room for him in the OT. I hope you see the contradiction as clearly as I do.

Don't get me wrong. Jar-jar annoys me as much as the next guy but I find all the hatred toward him and "I hope we see him die in a horrible fashion" going a little too far. I know it's Star Wars and it makes us passionate but still...

Ady should kill Jah Jah in the most disgusting way possible in the special features for each of his revisited editions... It could be a running joke that Jah Jah always gets killed in the special features. :)

Yup.

Is your "yup" confirming that this will happen, or just an agreement?

As for adding a dead jar-jar in the wampa cave... I'm gonna assume it's nothing more than a joke.

And we're all glad your sense of humor is so finely attuned.

Just as attuned as your sense of sarcasm.

Nope. I'm sure Ady has better stuff to do than giving life to you guys' fantasies.

Nope. I'm sure Ady does not need some guy to answer for him, as this is his project after all, most fan edits were born out of fantasies, good or bad.

That's completely irrelevant.

I'm pretty sure I'm not mistaken when I say that Ady said multiple times he welcomes suggestions but he won't add anything in his edits no matter how popular the idea is.

I mean the guy spends a lot of free time in his edits, and unlike some of us (including me) he has a family to take care of. So from my POV any special feature he adds is something that should be worth the time he put on it. So if I have on suggestion for him on this matter it's "Don't do it Ady. Killing off Jar-Jar, even in the extras is acknowledging he ever existed. Better to wipe out his existence entirely".

As for adding a dead jar-jar in the wampa cave... I'm gonna assume it's nothing more than a joke.

No, not at all, of course. My point was that with Ady's changes, which are mainly about visual improvement and adding more realism to the visuals, the story and characters stay the same just as they would with added reflections, so the story and characters being the important thing isn't really a valid argument against tastefully done reflections in this case, because it would be very much in spirit of changes like re-rotoscoping all the laser bolts or adding more asteroids to the asteroid field.

You're assuming I was making a case against the laser bolts reflections, which I wasn't. I was answering a more general question.

I am probably opening a can of worms by asking this but, why the hell do we people want to make ESB more like the prequels anyway?

Probably because the movie industry managed to fool a lot of people into believing that flashy and over-saturated pictures were more meaningful to a movie's quality than a deep story and convincing characters.

Well, if you were looking at it that way, then this whole exercise would be kind of meaningless though, wouldn't it? You could as well just watch a VHS of the original version - the story and characters would still be the same.

I see what you mean. However the point of this exercise, as you say is not to make the OT look more flashy or over-saturated. As far as I can tell it's about improving it, restoring it and erasing some awful changes introduced by the SE.

Also, I've always enjoyed watching my VHS of the OT. I never got bored watching them. Make me watch one of the PT movies however, I can't promise I won't skip some scenes or just simply press 'stop'.

That's a matter of debate.

You say Star Wars is about Vader... Well that may be how Lucas wants it to be now but back when the OT was made it was the journey of Luke Skywalker. Lucas once said that the whole saga was about the Skywalker family (he changed his mind since then like he always seems to), and IMHO it's better that way. We have the father's fall in episodes I through III and the son's rise in epidoses IV through VI.

That is why we see more of Luke than Vader : he IS the hero of the OT so the audience is following him, that's how it is in most movies. Vader is the bad guy so we only see of him what we need to see. You're right when you say we don't "need" to see transitions, but when not overdone they help us follow and get attached to the hero, which is Luke.

This may be old, but I noticed in this shot comparison that the blade is not aligned with the top of the hilt (on Luke's lightsaber). Can it be fixed?

Already been fixed:

The original lightsaber blade was attached to the hilt correctly. It was bent yes and that needed fixing, but not the way it was attached to the blade.

Am I the only one to notice in this screenshot that the re-rotoscoped blade isn't aligned correctly with the lightsaber emitter?
No, you're the only one who didn't read my next post!

Yeah I did read it, and my opinion stands. It looks alright in the second comparison, but not in the first.

I like the ATST in ESB, but judging by the changes in the new 16 minute clip ESB:R will be my version of choice. The new emperor scene and 'Bring my shuttle' more than make up for losing a brief glimpse of the ATST.

The ATST and the speeder bikes in Jedi do not make much sense but then you may as well ask:

Alright, I'm gonna bite just for fun :D

Why didn't the gunner on the star destroyer just shoot the escape pod "just to be sure"? (I bet he got force choked soon after!)

The gunner was ordered to hold his fire, now why did his superior give that order... Good question. Perhaps the guns were close from overheating after chasing the Tantive IV ?

Why do the stormtroopers ride giant lizards on Tatooine?

Why do policemen ride horses in some cities around the world? Aside from needing fuel, speeders' engines may not like the combination of sand and twin suns. Luke's XP-34 has no problem on flat rocky terrain but it might not fare that well on the Dune Sea...

When our heroes jump in the garbage chute, why don't the stormtroopers check out the station schematics and go and wait for them at the door?

Stormtroopers are morons, they are great to storm cities and ships and kill dozens of enemies who do nothing but stand against them and shoot back, but against a small group of evasing foes who use just a little bit of tactic they are totally lost.

Leia knew  the falcon was being tracked so why didn't she ditch it on a neutral planet and take a different ship to Yavin

That would mean taking a detour to another planet and wasting time searching for another ship. But yeah I agree that's like inviting the wolves inside the sheep pen.

Why didn't the death star designer put some protection around the exhaust port?

They did put a ray-shield.

Why didn't the empire nuke hoth from orbit instead of sending a ground assault?

Already answered many times over : the rebels had an energy shield capable of deflecting any bombardment (sic). Besides Vader wanted Luke alive so nuking the whole place was out of the question.

Why didn't vader just break the falcon's hyperdrive rather than just having it switched off?

Dunno, breaking it might have been more difficult, or too obvious.

Why didn't the emperor have large shutters installed in those tubes the rebels fly through to get to the death star reactor?

It was still under construction, could be the engineers needed the space to transport large parts through those tunnels.

Why can't a crack legion of stormtroopers crush an insurgency comprised of teddy bears armed with sticks and stones?

Actually they could if you remember the battle, but they didn't count on the teddy bears AND the Wookie :D

Yeah I live in the USA so PAL doesn't really work for me. It should be fairly easy to convert, or just play on a computer.

It will be played on a computer anyway, it's just that NTSC sometimes makes playback not-so-smooth. But yeah I'll convert it.

And about the fact that PAL doesn't work for you... So many things to say but I'd rather be nice :)

Isn't Ady married himself? Silly trolls.

yeh, i am. which is one of the reasons i found this guys trolling comment quite funny. He said that i should "Find a girl. Now.", yet i'm married and his facebook status was "single". Epic fail there buddy.

Haha! Epic fail indeed... Would have been more funny if the troll had been "Georges Lucas is not a lair !!!" though.

I apologize for bringing up old issues, but Adywan, your bank account is already empty? What happened to that money I gave you? That wasn't exactly chump change. You spent it all, already? I don't think you got my email, but I did say I would prefer you spend that on computer storage than stuff to make that damn wampa, which I am still reluctant to believe you can pull off.

I believe Ady was quite clear that donations would go toward completion of ESB:R. When you donated you agreed to let him use it on whatever aspect of the project he saw fit.

To Ady: best of luck in your personal life. I admire you for still going on no matter what crap life brings your way.
