who misses the prequels?

You've got to be sh*tting me. So you are telling me that "Romeo and Juliet" has gone through numerous changes, and that "Homer's Oddessy" is constantly changing to match the author's original vision (because lord knows, a classic can't stand the test of time). I guess "Beowulf" hasn't been the same since "Beowulf: The Special Edition" that came out in 1256 in midevil theaters everywhere.

ROTS and the Oscars!
Time
I'm not so sure that even Williams was Oscar worthy for Sith. Yes, the man is a music God, but when I bought the soundtrack I heard a lot of music re-hashing from previous films. Like when Palps and Yoda are fighting in his office you can hear the same music from ESB when Vader is throwing stuff at Luke to knock him off balance. *sigh* That was just disapointing. Couldn't Williams have used something new for that scene rather than an obvious "cut and paste" job?

9 Years Ago Today....
Time
I was living on a military base in Japan and I missed the showing of ANH (because it only stayed for a little while), but I did get to see ESB and ROTJ twice. I didn't have a problem with ESB, but I did wince at the "Jedi Rocks" number.

I actually remember, one afternoon, begging my Mom that I wanted to go to ROTJ again, but maybe I didn't because I had just seen it like a week ago. I don't think that she wanted to see it and I was getting a little pestering. But then after we went to the BX (military mall store place) she took us (I think rather reluctantly) across the street to the theater because she said "Well, your brother want's to see it, so we're gonna go anyway."

It was great. I knew that this was going to be the last time I was going to be able to see ROTJ in the theater so I made a consious effort to look at more than just the screen and remember how big the theater was. To this day where Jarrod walks to greet Vader I can still feel like I'm in that theater.

Star Wars: The Interactive Video Board Game (1996, Parker) (* unfinished project *)
Time
Oh my god.... I think I remember this. Originally I said I had never seen it, but now that I look at the screen shots...I remember this. Vaguely.

I think one of my friend's friends had this game and I borrowed it back in 1997, but I got bored with the game. I only fast forwarded to the dialogue, and even then I don't remember much. I wonder why I wasn't more excited about this game because it looks cool. Huh. It's mystery.

The thing is, is that I both want and don't want the TV show to happen.

First, I don't want it to happen because it's sandwiched between III and IV and that is boring. What I REALLY want to see is a type of "Band of Brothers" mini-TV series where Luke is now the head of the Jedi council and is the leader of the up and coming Jedi Knights. That would kick so much ass I would have a very sore ass.

But, secondly, I don't want it to happen because, well there is the chance that it might suck. I mean (with my TV idea), I'm totally happy with seeing the end of ROTJ being the end. What happens after that really isn't important. The story is over, why risk making it suck? All the planned TV show is doing is opening up the gap between III and IV for more inconsistancies.

But there is the chance that it would be awesome (my idea, not this "Boba Fett Show" that Lucas is planning). But since my idea is never going to happen, I don't care about the TV show. Minor characters be damned. I don't care about them; I don't even know who they are. Why do I want to watch a show devoted to them? I don't read the books. I don't play the games. I just don't care.

And so, the TV show holds no special hope in my heart. My Star Wars is the OT. It focus on the original main cast and that is it. Everything else is fan-boy fluff.

FOR THE SINGLE (or widowed or divorced) OTers
Time
I'm 22, single, and looking for love.

I really, really want to get married, but Mr. Right just hasn't shown up yet. I thought that the last man I dated and was in love with was really going to be the one, but he decided he was going to leave me and marry someone else...and not tell me. So, that relationship ended quickly.

But now I'm available again and on the look out for love. I graduate in less than a year and really want kids. I'm ready, I just need to find the one I'm destined to fall in love with. Whom ever he is.

HC receives Razzie© nomination for Worst Supporting Actor
Time
Aww, poor Hayden. That guy gets such a bad rap. I put 80% of the blame on GL for his sucky performance. Hayden took his role seriously. I mean the guy actually took the initiative to beef up for his role in ROTS. I can't even loose the 5 pounds I've wanted gone since Christmas. I, of course, still hate Anakin but I don't have anything against the actor.

And I still don't understand. If the PT (and according to George Lucas - the ENTIRE Star Wars saga) is about Anakin, why is Hayden a "supporting" actor to Ewan? Don't you think that if the movie is about Anakin, that the guy who is playing him should be first on the marque? It would be like putting Harrison Ford before Mark Hamill? WTF?

Star Wars: Tail of the Tape
Time
1. Writer. That man can't direct worth sh*t.
2. Alec. Ewan just happens to be the ONLY likable character from the PT.
3. What kind of stupid question is that?
4. Hairbuns. Those are a cultural icon.
5. Yavin. It was ahead of it's time and still is.
6. They both sucked.
7. Padme. I was so looking forward to how she was gonna die and then Lucas has to go and f*ck it up.
8. The "how are you?" thing still gets me to this day.
9. Oh man. I don't know. They both rock pretty hard. But I might give the edge to Empire.
10. Imperial March. Duel of Fates is more really Star Wars pop music.

My thoughts exactly CO.

I've slowly started getting out of "getting all bent out of shape" about the PT movies. I just don't care anymore. The only thing redeeming about them is the memories that are tied to them, not the movies themselves. The hype is what fills my heart, the hope that they would rock.

But even now, I wouldn't want him to make any more just so I could feel the hype again. It's not worth sacrificing the name of Star Wars just so I could get a hype "fix," because lord knows I'll just crash and burn after the ecstasy wears off...just like the last three times. I don't want to turn in to a hype junky.

The only thing that could bring be back into the hype is a totally bitchin' showing of the OT in IMAX completely un-altered. Now that is something to get hyped up about.

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
Is there any suggestions for those of us here in America on how we can get a playable version of this DVD gold?

I can't download anything from torrents, and I have no way of knowing if my DVD player or my laptop can play a PAL disk, since I can't tell the difference between a computer and a hole in the ground.

I really, really want to see this but apparently I'm technologically useless. I have no problem shelling out a wee bit of $$$ for material and postage and stuff if there is some way that I can get a DVD that will play in my poor excuse for a Region 1 DVD player.

Thanks

Lucas and CGI in the Prequels

If you simply replace them instead of releasing a seperate director's cut while at the same time making the original cut available again, you violate an artists ethical obligation towards culture and society. That's what bothers me the most.

And with that, I tip my hat to you good sir. I agree whole heartedly.

Yoda talking in OT vs PT, way different
Time
And I don't know how Yoda could learn to talk properly while isolated on a planet. If anything he should have gotten more retarded.

Anyway, in ESB his dialogue changes to more coherent when he reveals himself to be the Jedi master Luke was looking for. Before that most of his dialogue was backwards-speak. Then when it was obvious that he wasn't the local retard, his speech became much more clear.
