The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread

Well, he hasn't "worked" anything into the actual movie, Hal. It was created BEFORE Episode II ever came out, and it was based on rumors about who would be in it and so forth. It was pure speculation about what the movie might be like and doesn't reflect an actual fan-edit of the film.

And musicman, that's a good suggestion about Jar-Jar. I'm not sure if the right footage exists, but we can try it.

Thanks, Dangelus!

This whole thing has certainly been a learning experience for me. I'm priviledged to work with such a great group of guys. We started this thing on a fluke, and now... here we are... What can I say? We're getting there.

I agree with you on the prologue. It's for the "try it and see" pile. It could be genius, and it could be crap. We're often dangling between those two extremes on this project. Time will tell.

So, now that we can watch the rough cut (which WON'T be posted, Erik! ) and get a feeling of the flow from scene to scene, now we can analyze the details, transitions, color palette, etc. We can easily identify the gaps we need to fill, so we'll continue to enhance, rearrange and fabricate entirely new shots. And of course, we haven't even scraped the surface of the new audio mix yet.

In short, "this is where the fun begins."

Until later,

P.S. - Watch this thread in the coming weeks and months as we begin to post screen captures, videos, etc. to give you a preview of what we're working on. We're aiming for a summer "completed" date, but no promises.

Just to give everyone an update: Work is progressing rather quickly again! We'll have our first cut finished by the weekend.

We're also considering adding a prologue to the beginning outlining the history of the Jedi's war with the Sith. Lots of quick battle scenes, talk of the Force, the history of the Jedi, the formation of the Republic, the history of the Sith and their tyrannical nature and the reason they want revenge.

Let us know if you have any input on this.

Thanks,

Wanted: Radio Dramas on CD...

Oops. Sorry...

You're right! I wouldn't THINK of downloading an mp3 of this when all I need it for is some alternate 3PO dialogue for a fan-edit! What was I thinking? Instead, I'm going directly to Amazon now to pay hundreds of dollars for it!

Seriously though, thanks for setting us straight, Moth3r. We should've kept it off the boards. Sorry for any trouble.

Sluggo's Valentine's Day NEW PiF photoshop contest
Time
I love almost all of Coov's covers, but these in particular are IMO the most original covers to come out of the community in recent memory. I didn't enter the contest for the DVD's, but when I saw afterwards that Sluggo had chosen these covers, I became very excited. When I first saw the one for Star Wars back when Coov first posted it, it actually made me want to own the DVD just to be able to use that cover on my shelf.

You have good taste, Sluggo.

Info: Prequel Trilogy in HD on German TV!
Time
I've got no time for juvenile antics and name-calling, and I don't care what the age group of the poster is. I say take it to TF.N or wherever it's tolerated. I'd like to think ot.com is a community of generally intelligent, level-headed Star Wars fans who actually care about the films, and can discuss them in a civil, adult-level fashion.

SKot, those are my sentiments exactly.

And greencapt, you ALWAYS find a way to crack me up! Where do you get this stuff???

Not to derail this thread any more than it has been, but this kind of stuff has really been getting out of hand recently:

I don't think there's a need for your kind of attitude, Eros. Not on this thread, not on any thread.

The fact is, you didn't communicate in a clear way, then got overly agitated and hostile when someone asked you to clarify what you were trying to say in the first place. Karyudo and Segaflip were simply pointing out the fact that we're not mind-readers on this board. How are we supposed to know what you're talking about if you don't communicate coherently? They didn't say it in a rude way, nor were they over-analyzing your post, but they were probably taken aback by your pure nastiness and responded accordingly.

Your referring to these board members as "twats" while telling them to "fuck off", then suggesting that they're "blowing each other", is completely uncalled for, has nothing to do with the topic we're discussing and not even close to a resonable reaction to the messages that were posted.

It simply isn't necessary.

Why are more and more threads lately devolving into this type of nonsense? It wasn't that way before on this board. Is it the age-factor? I mean, where did all the decent, friendly people who liked Star Wars go?

'Shadows Of The Empire' soundtrack - help wanted accessing the cd-rom part
Time
The problem you're having is that it's designed to work in a much older version of Windows. One would logically think that if you have a newer version of Windows, then it should have everything the older operating system had and more, right? Well, unfortunately no. Such is the infuriating proprietary nature of Microsoft.

This happened with my enhanced "Nixon" soundtrack CD years ago. It had a trailer for the movie, and all kinds of other info, including an interview with John Williams on the making of the score. As soon as I switched operating systems, I think when I switched over to WIndows 2000, the enhanced content just stopped working. I couldn't figure it out. I assumed all later versions of Microsoft would be compatible. I was pissed when someone finally told me what the problem was. Not sure if the content can ever be accessed again.

I've had the "Shadows of the Empire" CD ever since it was first released back in '96 or '97. I don't remember what was on the enhanced part of the disc, but I know it won't operate on my current system.

The Shadows of the Empire book was lacking in most respects. However, I would certainly recommend the music for any SW fan. It's by Joel McNeely, the guy who did the Young Indy Chronicles. Lots of choral and some interesting meshing of the popular SW themes, as well as plenty of original content on par with any of the official OST's. Remember, before the Prequels, this was the only non-OT Star Wars music we had! Beautifully written and performed with a full choir and orchestra, it gave us visions of what the prequels would sound like. In my opinion, it's even superior to some of the material written for the prequels. I consider it the "seventh" Star Wars soundtrack.
