STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

Looks like the 'train' is staying in then, lol. I guess it's the rapid movement of it that puts me off a little, compared to the 'quieter', less frantic moment on the platform at that point that was present in the original GOUT version. Either that, or maybe it's that I would have preferred a 'monorail' track (I love monorails) to have been in place, rather than the 'flying snake' effect. I understand the reasons for keeping it in as it is however, so will learn to love it! I'm just delighted that Ady seems to want to do something about the Falcon's cockpit windows there though....

About that white 'artifact' that shows up on Darth's neck area during the slo-mo 'Dagobah Cave' duel, that was not part of the 'slight reflection' that is there on the base of his helmet....I just realised that this may not be on the source you are actually using Ady. But if it is, then there is likely to also be a couple of print damage 'artifacts' on the bottom left of the frame near the end of 'Empire', just as Luke has gone to stand beside Leia as she looks out at the Rebel Fleet. Certainly on my SE DVD there is. These weren't caught in the 'scrub-up'. I hate 'artifacts', and that's a fact!

I got sent a PAL DVD-9 with Adywan's artwork directly printed onto it, with the words 'PAL DVD-9' added at the bottom, from someone, which arrived this morning. It didn't have a note of the sender enclosed, and the postmark isn't clear. If this happened to be you Ady, then thanks! Can you confirm?

Yeh, that was me

That explains it then, and thankyou once again. You should have autographed it! :)

Don't know how you feel about this Ady, but on the shot of the Millennium Falcon as it sits on the landing platform when Han and Lando walk towards each other, the 'reflections' on it's cockpit windows always looked unnatural to me compared to the usual 'blackened' look which I personally prefer, and which the previous shot of it actually landing has. And in the shot a little later, where C3P0 walks ahead of it, some of the cockpit windows are now actually grey...

Also, although I like most of the additional flying craft added in the SE's 'floating city' scenes, I really dislike the distracting, snaking 'flying train' that passes by the platform as Han and Lando meet, as I think it really detracts from the scene. I'd like to see that removed, and can take it or leave it where it reappears in the distance during the SE's 'city occupants' shot too. As usual, these are only opinions and ideas for you to like or dislike at your discrection.

Have to add to the praise for RoccondilRinon's 'Revisited' cover efforts, and that 'wraparound' box artwork is very nice indeed.

Although the thankfully cleaned-up slo-mo 'Dagobah Cave' encounter is mostly free of artifacts now, there is still a distracting white speck of print damage that occurs in slo-mo at the neck area of Darth just after his and Luke's lightsabers have clashed twice. This white 'speck' against the black of Vader is definately a flaw rather than a 'reflection' of some sort, and it would be nice to see it filled in.

In the same sequence - When Darth's severed helmet initially 'explodes', there are some pieces/shards on the ground beside it as the smoke clears, but in the next shot, they are gone. Could you remove them (or add them in if you prefer), to tie the shots better together? Also, the side of the 'exploded' helmet looks grey compared to the previous intact helmet shot, where it seems 'blacker' and more 'reflective' of the ground nearby. Is it possible to 'blacken' it a little to match up more? And yes, even the actual ground of these three individual helmet shots look different...so much for continuity.

Yeh, some of the shots of R2 are terrible. They are just too blue. If you look very carefully you can see that they added a new layer of colour for his done that doesn't quite match up at times but destroyed all the shading in the process. I may have a way of fixing it though.

To be a little more specific, having looked at the SE version again, I'd say the way the ones just after Luke blasts off from the 'Hoth' planet in his X-wing are fairly nicely and consistently blue coloured/'shaded'. However it's the ones in the later scenes, just before Luke crashlands into the 'Dagobah' planet, and when Luke leaves Yoda and Obi-wan's appearance, that are inconsistent and not as good. These seem a mixture of either too much 'unshaded' blue along with too much black 'shading' still. However, whatever your own preference is, any way you can make the shots a little more uniform will be an improvement.

And agree with doubleofive that it would be nice to see Luke's obviously static, largely revealed X-wing subtley seem to start to 'slip down' or 'across a little' in some way as R2 turns towards it, as it almost fully submerged in the next shot of it which occurs very quickly after.

Just for the sake of even-handedness at this point, while Ady is still hopefully only 'contemplating' the total removal of Boba Fett from his 'Jedi Revisited'....I'd like to add my own wish to the others here that have said that they hope he IS included still....

I only want to bring this up now in the hope that Ady will wait until that particular thread comes before deciding properly, although whatever he chooses to do will no doubt turn out great. The problem with 'Jedi' is that it started the saga on the route to becoming a little too 'childish' in places, as opposed to being 'child-like', and there is potential to make Boba Fett's 'weapons-laden' threat into a far better, more serious appearance. There is also a way to utilise the existing footage to actually make him die 'differently', and to even let him....whisper it....survive, with a little tweaking, either from the Sarlaak, OR the 'different' death.... But that can all wait till the 'Jedi' thread, so please don't ask in the meantime.

Anyway, as far as 'Empire' goes, I notice that the blue colouring of R2D2 in the X-wing in space is erratic. In some shots his blue sections are completely blue with no 'shading', but other shots have his blue sections blackly shaded with a little blue added. Tying these together a bit would be nice, and to be honest, I prefer the latter look.

Another nice 'colour-corrected' preview shot Adywan. Great to see how brown Yoda's robes will be again! Please keep these snippets coming over the next few months.

I sure wonder how you will be able to make the whole 'Asteroid Chase' sequence colour look....as the terribly darkened 2004 SE version is so far removed from the nice GOUT colouration to begin with. Good luck.

Adywan - About the 'large, unnatural orange glow' from the little asteroid entering the large 'crater' of the huge 'potato'-shaped asteroid that I flagged up recently -

Having watched this again now, there is a definate 'sound effect' for it, so if you do decide to do something with it, it's probably easiest to just leave the little asteroid and it's shadow, rather than erase it, and just erase the 'glow'.

Also, while I don't really want to talk about 'Jedi' ideas on this thread, with the recent talk of replacing the beginning sequence with a 'different look' to 'A New Hope's' imagery, I'd just like to say that although I love the idea of the 'Executor' being involved instead, that I still hope the actual 'Jedi' overhead shot of the Stardestroyer is kept somewhere, as it is still a great visual, whether with 'shuttles' or not...

gavin77 - I'm sure there will be those that want to add this in, but with Adywan's Xvid, DVD-5, PURIST Edition, DVD-9, some with PAL and NTSC versions, it's already a bit daunting for some new to this whole fan edit thing. I still class myself as a 'newbie' to all this, and it certainly took a few questions to work it all out initially.

So I think that Adywan's efforts should be kept to his own preferred version at the moment, where uploading 'ammended' versions of it is concerned.

I liked his 'Alderaan' scene too by the way, and there's a little bit of me that would like to include a snippet of it like this, while still keeping most of the original scene's pace - 'Death Star' fires as normal at Alderaan, then just as planet is hit with laser, we cut to the close up of 'Jar Jar' briefly seeing the impending, overwhelming 'surface rupture' coming towards him, then we cut back to the rest of the original shot just as the laser blast recedes before the big explosion. Poor 'Bail' though... :)

thank for the help guys. Luckily i've managed to dig out a pre-thx VHS tape. Just had a quick scan through it and the colour is the same as the GOUT just less saturated & a very slight different tint to it. I'm just going to go with what looks natural. this was never meant to be a restoration project so if the colour is slightly different than the original then I'm not really bothered about that. As long as that horrible tint is gone and the colouring looks natural then i've achieved what i have set out to do.

Adywan - Whatever you decide on yourself for different scenes throughout is bound to be better than the 2004 SE colouring as far as I'm concerned. The 'darkening' of the original colours in the 'Empire' SE was my main disappointment with that release, and has been happening with other favourite movies of mine too it seems. (And the SE 'A New Hope' was of course also altered for the worse too...) If nothing else, your better colouration is worth the effort of your versions alone!

A couple of other things - The recent ideas on 'the Bespin shuttle scenes' made me compare them on GOUT and SE today...and my own two cents are that the reintroduction of Darth's 'Bring my shuttle' line with NO SE additions of the 'walkway' / shuttle landing inside 'Excecutor's bay / Darth coming down shuttle ramp shots anymore, thus not breaking up the 'Millenium Falcon fleeing' scene so much, sounds good to me.

However, I'd still like one of the 2 shots of the shuttle heading for the 'Executor' to still briefly intercut into the 'fleeing' sequence, ideally the one of the reverse of the shuttle with the 'Executor' in the background (as I really like all 'Executor' effects shots!), but if you plan using that elsewhere, it would be okay with the 'shuttle leaving planet' one too. Just my own preference, although if they are gone (as you seem to think best at the moment), then they are gone. The sequence is still great and pacy enough, whether one of those brief establishing shots is there or not, I realise. Just a thought.

The other thing is, can you please do something with the distractingly large, unnatural (hey it's ALL unnatural I know!) 'orange glow' that occurs when a very small asteroid collides into the large 'crater' of the huge 'potato-shaped' asteroid, just after Han replies to C3PO, 'Never tell me the odds'.

Perhaps either put in some 'sparking debris' on it's impact, or get rid of the small asteroid, it's shadow, and subsequent 'orange glow' altogether! Either way would be preferable to what is there at the moment. Thanks.

When big-time work on ESBR begins, do you plan to retain the blue tint that the TIEs in ESB and ROTJ have had since 1980, or are they gonna be made light-grey to match up with ANHR?

I'm hoping to make them the light grey like in ANHR

Awesome. I look forward to all your colour-rectifying overall, as much as any enhancements that are done, and to see the 'Empire' TIES match the 'A New Hope' one's colouration will be terrific if you can manage that Adywan. I really didn't like their change to a 'bluer' look in the first place... And seeing a lot of the overall SE's 'blue hue' reverted back to a more natural colouration will be great, as shown in the recent shots put up here.

doubleofive - Another nice mock-up back there, giving a taste of what Adywan may give us where the shuttle is concerned. Thanks for these.

One of the joys of 'Star Wars Revisited' was seeing some of Adywan's colour-improvement in many scenes, and I must say that I personally rather the 'naturalistic' colour of the above example, rather than the 'blue-hued' version we got.

This Hoth scene will look great in 'white' again.

Adywan - Thanks for that glimpse into your future plans for your 'Jedi opening! It would be fantastic if you redid the opening a little to include the 'Executor'... The opening shot being too reminiscent of the 'A New Hope' look has always been a particular bugbear of mine too, and this was more than I could have hoped for.

And doubleofive - Thanks to you too for that fine mock-up taster of what may come. Good stuff.

'Printable' blank discs always look best if you can access the equipment to do that, and Adywan's red 'Death Star schematic' label design looks great printed directly onto them.

Thanks to HotRod, I just got my 'PURIST' edition, so am looking for the first two here that would also like one along with g.rev (with Ady's label art on 'direct printed' discs :) ) to say so.

By the way, will some kind soul PM me about PIFing me a copy of Ady's PAL DVD-9, and my circle will finally be complete...

Erikstormtrooper - That sounds like a very nice sequence to me that a part of me wishes could be somehow actually incorporated near the end of the movie somewhere, to emphasise the continuing future threat of the 'Empire'...although it's a bit of a dramatic addition to the already great original ending I know.

Came across this recently posted YouTube clip from Adywan's 'Revisited' with alternative lightsaber sounds more akin to the 'Prequels'. More 'PTWOOO's than 'sizzling' and an interesting side by side comparison I thought. I still prefer the original sound though..
