Also, in regards to this shot:

Are the X-wing engines going to be redder to match their appearance in ANH?

I can assure you the engines are red in that shot.

Good to know these engine 'glows' are going to be as consistantly red as the 'ANH:R' ones, as I was kinda thinking this one shown a while back was kinda 'pink' too, compared to the SE version where it's very 'red' -

I guess the colours on these preview shots always come across a little bit unrepresentative of how they'll actually end up looking on the finished discs, so no worries.

Not to mention:

If Vader's chamber is literally 10 feet away from the bridge, how hilariously AIRPLANE does it make the scene play out when all Vader has to do is get his asthmatic butt out of that chamber, go out the door, turn left/right and yell out "Hey Ozzell!  What the hell is going on?!"  You know, as opposed to talk to them via TV screen?

So yes, ANYTHING to show that Vader's chamber is in a much safer place, like deep inside the Executor, as opposed to right next to the bridge on a conning tower with shields that cannot withstand laser fire from A-wings.  A-wings fer chrissakes!

While I didn't mean 10 feet away from the Bridge, lol, I don't reckon a long, long trek from it either.

However, as it's impossible to actually judge exactly where this section of the set seen beyond the doorway is positioned anyway, there's nothing to say it can't be situated 'in the bowels' somewhere, without any manipulation whatsoever.

Nice work on that unused shot doubleofive.

I remember liking the original version of the set shown here.  Although even removing the crewmembers walking past would also give a more 'remote' feeling for Vader's quarters, I still think he wouldn't be situated too far away in walking distance from the 'main action' on the Bridge.

The lightsabre battle in TPM was thoroughly awesome. One of the most inspired ideas from the Reborn project, IMO, was opening the first film in medias res with that battle. One of the few ways (from the point of view of someone who's never seen the films) to rival the "wow" factor of the actual opening of ANH.

The great thing about the OT when that was all that existed, was that the Star Wars saga at that point, opened with a kick-ass sequence -  The Stardestroyer/Blockade Runner chase.

The prequels now give us a slow, meandering sequence to start off the 'whole' saga now.  It would have been neat had we been given another great sequence straight from the off, as the 'new' beginning to the saga....if only George had structured his story in such a way.

I'd have loved to have seen a more exciting scene introduce the whole saga from the very start of the end of the 'scroll intro.' ...

Also still wondering if there would be any saber 'reflection' seen in that shot where Luke has his back nearest to the window, or not?

No. If you look at the right side of the frame in that shot you can see the reflection of lukes legs come into frame but not enough that you would see any of the saber at all

Agreed.  Having looked at that scene over the weekend, the placement of Luke and Vader excludes the chance of any 'reflections' from their saber 'glows' in there, just and no more....even in the one where Luke is closest to the window.

This would have made for a very nice, subtle addition had the actors been positioned just slightly further back in the set, but they weren't, so 'reflections' of saber 'glows' would definately be wrong now.

As far as the 'outer ring' of the windowframe perhaps being at an 'angle' to the rest of the windowframe, it turns out it's all aligned 'flatly'....so this wouldn't have any bearing either.

Sheesh... Gotta say, this debate is a bit silly. But, it's cool.

Yup, but there's been many debates on even more trivial stuff too, that's ended up being added.  The subtle stuff counts.

I don't have the disc at hand to check just now, but is the 'outermost ring' of the glass in the widowframe at an 'angle', compared to the rest of the windowframe?  And if it is, would this have any bearing on any 'reflection' of the sabers?  Just wondering.

Also still wondering if there would be any saber 'reflection' seen in that shot where Luke has his back nearest to the window, or not?

The only thing that i did like about the reflections of the lightsabers was to make the window actually look more window like than just a frame, i know the glass smashes later on in the scene lol, maybe someone might add a slight shine or reflection of the interior where they are fighting to make the window look more realistic?

Surely the interior 'reflections' seen on the window already do that?

I originally thought that the 'reflections' of Luke standing on the lit-up floor rectangles seen in the glass window, had been added for the 2004 DVDs when they came out....but on checking the GOUT realised they had always been there.

So I personally like this idea of the sabers being 'reflected' subtly too, especially in the shot when Luke is closer to the window after he's recovered from being hit on the head by a flying object.  (Having said that, I guess all the 'reflections' could be removed from the window instead, alternatively)  Either way, consistency would be good here.

Just how easily seen Luke's 'reflection' currently is, can be seen at the very end of this clip -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf_IthivGgA

Yes, i removed the SE flames and added some debris.

Plus i think the shot of the probe emerging from the smoke is a perfect reveal. Very eerie. Fire would just ruin that

Perfect.  It always annoyed me how they added SE 'fire' to the wide shot, but didn't bother to match it with some in the 'close-up' too.  All's well again.

By the way brash_stryker, that's the scariest thing I've seen since Halloween!

This 'close-up' of an AT-AT firing was always one of my favourite shots from the battle scenes.

But there's a strange glitch on it's front right leg that's always spoiled it a little.  Here's the shot as it currently looks -

As it's something that I really hope Adywan will sort out, I asked doubleofive to do a couple of 'mock-ups' showing how it should look without the 'jaggedness' (many thanks 005), and his 2nd one below shows how even a 'basic' touch-up would improve this greatly.

And I don't know if Adywan can do anything about this too, but doubleofive noticed that there also seems to be some detailing missing from the inside of this leg.  If possible, this would be a neat addition, considering how closely we see it.

His 1st 'mock-up' below gives an idea of what's missing, and I've included an example at the bottom of this post -

....and with just the 'jaggedness' removed:

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a clear shot of the top inside front leg details on any other shots in the battle, and any potentially revealing ones were too indistinct due to very dark 'weathering' in that area.

....however, here's a link with the leg detailing clearly seen on the Master Replicas miniature:  http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=/mr/mr-atatpreview-25.jpg

Your 'zoom-in' concept was neat vaderios, but I reckon the (now improved) existing shot establishes a better impact of the 'vast scale' of the vegetation that Luke has landed in, as you can still make out a clearer sense of the surrounding details in it.

Adywan has mentioned that he is planning on altering the 'angle' of the tiny X-Wing in the shot still, and it will be good to get some consistency with the live-action X-Wing in the shots that follow....since I used to always think that we were seeing the rear of the X-Wing in this shot due to it's wing 'angle', and thought that the 'front lights' seen on the 'prop' had been badly placed here....

It will be good to see this clarified either way.

Ady since Leia points the executor in the upper section of the cockpit then stylistically and only, the shot should change from perspective POV. Besides that is a wide shot. we should see Leia and chewie :)

This was a really good spot vaderios, as Leia does point up at quite an acute angle in the preceding shot.  Your solution looks great, especially the kind of 'angle' you've used for the Executor in your version.

If Adywan wants to keep this cockpit shot as it is (which veers sharply a moment later, showing a blurred starfield and Executor in the distance), I'd like him to consider placing the Executor higher up in the frame at this point.

So I really hope that Adywan considers adding a 'burn/singe mark' to this shot, roughly where you've placed your top one.

He will be adding scorch marks on the walls in the duel.  He said so in his ESB R change list.

Yes, but I'm hoping it will be a single one for the reasons I've given.
