Heh, and there was me beginning to think that you guys had got together for a really elaborate April Fools wind-up this year!  But perhaps not... :(

adywan: said

I'll post some pics soon

Anyhoo, I really liked your AT-AT pic, and look forward to these shots too. :)

(By the way, I've just come across something to do with ESB in another thread that I wasn't aware of before, that I'll go into later today when I've more time)

I found mine through fanedit.org (RS links) and burned with ImgBurn and it looks terrible...might I ask where you found yours?

Annoyingly, I can't for the life of me remember.

Darth Solo was good enough to pass on a 'compressed' copy to me initially (in May 2008 it turns out), but then a friend of mine searched around and found the dual-layer somewhere or other (possibly Demonoid or Linktalk)...but I just can't remember properly.  I'll ask him, but as it was that long ago, I'll be surprised if he remembers either.  All I know for sure, was that it wasn't from Fanedit.org, not that that's much help.

But I'm curious to know how bad the version over there is, so may check it out at some point soon.

By the way ibleedspeed, the more I look at your original 'the whole bloody affair' wording, the more I'd like to see that done in RED for contrast next to the white 'Kill Bill'.  Same for whatever font you end up going with for this, but that's just me, lol.

Okay, I just came across this interesting article about KILL BILL:THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR over at Aintitcoolnews today, which was posted just a couple of days ago, it seems.  If any of you are curious enough to bear it, it's worth clicking on the '+ Expand All' option beside the 'READERS TALKBACK' underneath the article, to find some interesting comments and thoughts on it amongst the usual nonsense -  http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/node/49042

Something that I hadn't reckoned on though, till it was mentioned by someone there...is the possibility that the eventual Blu-ray release might end up being spread over 2 discs...just like the damned upcoming 'Extended' versions of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy is going to be!  Never mind an 'intermission', it might as well be an old 'flipper' disc, if that's the case, as far as I'm concerned.  (and yes, I really can't stand the unnecessary one that continues to split 2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY either...but at least I can skip that)

And just for some additional info. for those that have never seen the Japanese version, here's a couple of comparison links below -

Info. details about different region cuts -

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=5067

More info. and screenshot comparisons - Note: those of a sensitive nature should stay clear of this next one... :)

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!
Time

Just wanted to show what the official site's announcement of this looks like -  http://starwars.com/movies/saga/prime_focus_star_wars_3d/index.html

Out of the various 'conversion' companies out there, I gotta say that the one responsible for the 'CLASH OF THE TITANS' mess (not mentioned, funnily enough) would not have been my first choice...

And GL's claim that "I'm very happy with the results I've been seeing on Episode I" doesn't automatically fill me with confidence about their involvement.

It's not clear just how much input they had in some of the other titles mentioned, but I just hope that 'Prime Focus' have got their act together for the saga's release.  And here's their site announcement -  http://www.primefocusworld.com

Darth Stewie said:

I just wish every time I come to Ady's thread people were being wonderful to each other. Some of you guys could take a page out of Imp Fighter's book. He's always the nicest and most respectful guy here.

*blushes*  Well thanks for the vote of confidence Stewie, but I can't be having you impuning my bad name like that...'cos believe me, although I may be a fan of Star Wars, I don't necessarily like all Star Wars fans! ;)

But seriously, I'm sure there'll always be a little 'discourse' around here every now and then to do with certain things (no matter how trivial) to do with these 'Revisited' edits.  I guess that's only natural, given the sky-high hopes for adywan's possible 'creative choices' on these, amongst those interested.

There's plenty around here that have differing opinions on certain aspects, and that's to be expected...but the over-riding fact is that these edits are primarily meant for adywan's *own* satisfaction at the end of the day, although everyone else is welcome to share a look a his unique preferences too, if we want to.  For free.

Strongly-held individual ideas on what could or shouldn't be done on these particular edits have sometimes thrown up stuff of interest for everyone to consider, along the way...but hopefully, most of us on the sidelines will try to disagree on certain things in a way that doesn't piss off adywan and others too much in the process. :)

(by the way, that was the best-looking 'R2D2' I've ever seen Stewie)

Loconut said:

I like most of the 16-min sneak peek changes, but I just know I've missed a few. Does anybody have the intention of creating one of those delightful picture comparison sets?

If someone ends up doing that at this point Loconut, then great, but it's a lot of work, as there's so much packed into just those 16 mins. alone!  At some point though, I'm hoping there'll be a comprehensive shot comparison done of the changes, after the edit is fully completed...similar to the one done for 'ANH:R'.  (click on my 'signature' link for further details)

In the meantime, here's a list of the differences that I know of in that clip, for you to see if there's any you weren't aware of -

Probe Droids dispatched have enhanced rocket glows / starfield rotates as single Probe Droid recedes away / starfield and Hoth planet rotate as Probe Droid approaches, and 'atmosphere haze' is uniform around planet / Probe Droid has enhanced fiery trail as it enters atmosphere and crashes / crater added (with no flames) as Probe Droid flies off / 2nd shot of Probe Droid crashing is 'flipped' into reverse to match previous shot of it crashing / Luke's macrobinoculars display is enhanced to match later rebel trooper's one / enhanced backdrop as Han's Taun-Taun runs in distance Luke's Taun-Taun blinks / 'filming boom' reflection in Luke's goggles removed / horns added to Wampa (but this is just a temporary version, anyway) / close-up of Wampa's arm swipe is 'flipped' upside-down, with 'thumb'-claw at top, so it doesn't look like a 'backwards'-swipe anymore / bit of puppeteer's arm showing in Wampa's arm as it grabs Taun-Taun, removed / as Han's Taun-Taun enters base -  exterior of ice cave and groundsnow enhanced...shape of cave opening altered...interior of cave angled to show more detail inside, and enhanced doorway added...equipment box and cabling beside gunturret, and extra rebel trooper activity added too / inconsistent X-wing engines showing as Han dismounts, removed / Millennium Falcon's guns lowered behind Chewbacca welding bit of actor's neck showing through C3PO's mask before Han covers his mouth, removed / Luke's legs closer together as he hangs, to match close-up of trapped feet / lightsaber more consistently embedded in the snow / lightsaber glow enhanced / Millennium Falcon moved further back in the rebel base as R2D2 monitors for Luke and Han at the entrance / rebel base doorway just moves once to shut / 'Force'-glow added to Luke's vision of Ben / close-up of Han about to cut Taun-Taun with lightsaber 'flipped' into reverse / lightsaber glow enhanced / close-up of lightsaber cutting Taun-Taun's belly 'flipped' into reverse, and flames removed from cut straps / enhanced display controls in Snowspeeder cockpit / transparent Snowspeeder made solid / enhanced clouds in sky backdrop behind Snowspeeder / an additional Snowspeeder flies into rebel base at end of mission / and although not seen in the clip, it's also now been confirmed that the 'bacta tank' will be coloured a little redder when Luke is inside it.

Bingowings said:

I really find it difficult to actually suggest anything new when I see a fresh clip or if something pops into my head at this point because it is so close to being complete.

Anything I suggest could only serve to annoy or (in the unlikely case of my suggesting something Ady hadn't already considered and he liked) set back the completion of the thing by prompting further adjustments.

Well it's certainly closer Bingo, but since it's tentatively scheduled for the end of this year, or so, there's still quite a ways to go yet.  I'm always keen to hear anything someone's got in mind concerning further ideas to do with 'EMPIRE:R'.  And judging by this previous mission statement of his, I'm sure that adywan would still encourage any additional thoughts from anyone here that have any, including yourself, until the point he says otherwise -

adywan said:

But i don't care how long this takes me to do.  If an idea comes up that i think would benefit the edit then i will try to do it, even if it delays the release by an extra year or so.  The last thing i want to do is rush the edit just to get it out there and look back thinking "god i really wish i had done that" and not be happy with the finished product.

...of course, this was from way back on page 479 in mid 2009 (!), so things may have changed since then. ;)

kill bill the whole bloody affair ibleedspeed edit (Released)
Time

Since QtheGaijin's epic edit is my default version of the KILL BILL movies, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

I see there's been a few comments saying QtheGaijin's picture quality is poor, but that's certainly not the case with the dual-layer that I have.  It looks very, very good indeed, so I just wonder about the ones that others have gotten hold of.

Anyway, I'm really pleased to hear that you've included the 'proverb' at the start of your edit, as I really missed that in QtheGaijin's version.  I reckon it really helped to set a certain 'tone' for the over-the-top, violent antics that followed -

I'll be interested to see how much I miss the 'Bill kicks ass' scene though, as seeing more of David Carridine in action was one of the highlights of QtheGaijin's edit for me.  I do like the sound of your transition from Vol.1 to Vol.2 a little better however, although I'm fine with QtheGaijin's too.

Just a little thing, but I reckon I preferred your initial 'the whole bloody affair' font better in your earlier version, that you previewed on 'QtheGaijin's' edit thread  (shown at the bottom here)

I personally like it's look and spacing in relation to the KILL BILL lettering a bit more than your latest example, but no worries -

However - if you include an 'intermission' on this, then this is dead to me!  I hate 'em, lol.

Good luck with this, whatever you do.

Fink came from C3PX, who called me that on purpose as a joke.  I then started calling him CP3S.  Of course, later C3PX lost his password or something and came back as CP3S, so it's kind of confusing.

Anyway, CompMovieGuy did not make a typo.

Ah, I see...it all makes perfect sense now.

No wonder my head hurts around here sometimes, trying to keep up with events. :)

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Y'know, it's not until you study a 'comparison' SE shot, that you really notice all the extra touches properly, that adywan sometimes adds...

Although this isn't a perfect frame match with the new 'Revisited' shot below it, it's near enough to give a better idea of how much has actually been enhanced here overall -

I happen to like the momentary close-up of the rebel at the very end of the shot, as we've already followed the full movement of Han's Taun-Taun heading into the entrance by this point anyway...and I reckon it does indeed add a subtle feeling of extra 'activity' happening outside the base.

However, when you watch the whole shot in motion, there's a far better look to the outer ice-cave (and ground) than what was there before...and the look of the interior is fabulous.

...not counting the DVD-5 for your ESB:R 'behind-the-scenes' features, am I right to assume the others listed will be the same proposed formats for all your future edits too then adywan?

Great job on the 'bacta tank' shot!  It's a little thing, but it really helps to tie things together better with the look of the tank afterwards.  Glad you had another look at that.

I'm on Bill Hunt's side - for me max quality will trump convenience (provided I someday own a tv large enough for it to matter).  Also, I don't have the time to watch any of the extended movies in one sitting. ;-)

Hmmm, while the split discs were necessary for the DVD capacity release, I gotta say that I was looking forward to seeing complete, uninterrupted veiwings of each EXTENDED movie with this Blu-ray release this time around...if the 'ol bladder could stand it. ;)

Yes, the bonus features are tremendous once again, but I guess I wasn't expecting this distracting 'change-over' this time around.

Bill's certainly pleased with this latest amount of picture quality, albeit spread over 2 Blu-ray discs per movie, as he currently uses a 110-inch front projection screen.  Me, I'd have been happier with a slightly more compressed (but still very high quality) picture at this point, to get each movie complete on one disc.  Ho hum.

I've just read on TheDigitalBits site that the upcoming blu-ray set of the EXTENDED editions of the LOTR movies is going to be spread over 15 discs!

I'm personally peeved about this, as I'd really hoped the 3 movies would each be included on ONE single disc this time around...  But no, they are being spread over 2 discs...again.  The thing I liked about the long EXTENDED edition of AVATAR, was that it was on one disc, and hoped this release would be the same, and differ from their original DVD release.

When high capacity blu-rays were mooted, I didn't know they'd still end up the equivelent of the old hated 'flippers' discs! :(

Am I alone in this?

Absolutely, even though it'll be hard work suffering through all it's many miss-steps that make me cringe!

I'm mainly interested in getting an idea of just how successful Lucasfilm's chosen 'conversion' company has been with this effort...to get an idea of what to expect when the Original Trilogy's ('Special Edition') re-release comes around eventually.  Hopefully, the technology/'conversion' company will improve even more over the next couple of years, so that the OT release looks the best of the lot where this process is concerned.

Of course, I'm keeping my expectations low concerning this first release...  Still, at least there's the replacement 'Yoda' footage to look forward to, I guess. :)

Thanks doubleofive, those are fine.  Although they don't match exactly, those frames you posted are near enough for me to show a side-by-side look here at how adywan's new shot compares to the previous versions.

Here's what the 'behind-the-scenes' Probe Droid set looked like -

...and here's how the footage turned out as the Probe Droid rises...

...and here's how things look immediately afterwards in the GOUT, SE, and Revisited versions...

Such a great tweak which matches the original set details, and no sudden flames anymore, thankfully.

The 'ANH:R Visual Comparison' (on doubleofive's site) really showed off the many impressive changes in STAR WARS:Revisited in an at-a-glance way.  I'm hopeful that there'll be a similar look at the various enhancements on ESB:R etc. too, eventually.

The new shot of the debris-strewn Probe Droid crater which matches the shot previous to it is a terrific improvement over the SE version.  Great stuff, and I really love the look of this particular enhancement now.

doubleofive -  now that's it's been shown, could you manage a comparison with the GOUT and SE versions if you get a chance sometime?  Thanks.
