STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Nebula said:

It's funny that he gives out earlier snapshots and later on saying that he's corercted them without giving any proof visually. (Awaiting the final release is the best excuse I've ever heard. If you want to get feedback about your work and maybe it will be good, then show us your final shots. I think it's common sense).

Having read through some of your ramblings Nebula, it seems you take big issue with adywan's edit. Unfortunately, I can't pin down exactly what your exact beef with it is, as your comments are unspecific, and a little confusing overall.

Nevertheless, you're certainly entitled to your opinion regardless, however negative. Having said that, you seem to be quite a rude bugger if some of your initial posts are anything to go by.

Fair enough, but I'd just like to clarify something for you to do with your above comments - as one of those that have seen a very incomplete 'workprint' of ESB:R, I can assure you that adywan definately *has* continually improved on certain shots that he's only so far shown in an early, unfinished version on this thread. And those have been dramatically improved on now, as far as I'm concerned, compared to the early versions. You'll just have to accept my word on that, but he certainly doesn't owe it to any of us to keep showing every little additional amendment that he makes along the way. And althought he's previewed heaps of things already, he's also previously mentioned how he'd like to keep quite a few touches undisclosed as a 'surprise' for those interested, when the edit is finished.

And adywan has certainly shown that he's open to constuctive 'feedback' from others, even though these edits are mainly for his own satisfaction at the end of the day.

However, I'm kinda unclear why you'd even be concerned about wanting to give your opinion on totally finished screenshots anyway, seeing as you seem to be so against this thing in the first place...

@ adywan - sorry to hear of the recent spate of 'hate-mail' you've mentioned on Facebook that you've received recently. How ridiculous that some feel bothered by your own 'unofficial' enhancements to these movies, for your own enjoyment. Don't let any of that nonsense distract you from the fact that you're putting some wonderful imagination and artistry into your projects. If they aren't interested in your alternative take on these, then they've still got their own preferred versions readily available to them, so what's their issue?

And I'm hoping you'll get a chance to get round to some of those responses/answers on here you'd intended recently, but were unable to manage because of your connection problems.

Yoda: CGI vs Puppet
Time

SilverWook said:

I'm not sure the Yoda in the poster is even the same CGI model used in the movies.

Agreed. The poster unfortunately shows a Yoda with an especially 'painterly' CGI look overall I reckon. It would have benefited from being a more dramatically shadowed shot rather than a brightly-lit one, as the effect just seems lacking here. And the robes don't even seem to have the nuanced 'roughened' look that the movie CGI shots do, that are shown in certain posts above.

However, I much prefer that there's a replacement CGI version which at least ties in with the same look of the one shown in 'AOTC' and 'ROTS' now, as opposed to the ridiculous original 'TPM' puppet which didn't.

Sure, the overall CGI-heavy 'sheen' of the prequels give them a very different look compared to the original trilogy movies, but that is the least of their problems. So while I far prefer the 'ESB'/'ROTJ' puppet of course, I'm certainly heartened that the prequel trilogy Yoda's at least match together now.

PROMETHEUS was (Alien 0?) NOW NO LONGER SPOILER FREE.
Time

ALIEN and ALIENS were both great movie experiences in different ways for me, and everything that came after them paled in comparison where I'm concerned, including ALIEN 3 in either of it's current versions.

However, I'm certainly looking forward to PROMETHEUS bringing back Ridley's flair for visuals once again, to hopefully add another really good 'un to the overall franchise. Here's a big, nice quality 'gif' I came across of the shot that Anchorhead showed above, for a clearer look at things (especially the figure on the right of the frame) - http://larsfocke.de/temp/prometheus-space-jockey-chair.gif

The details of this set, and the exterior of the 'Derelict' seen in the recent teaser are markedly different in plenty of ways compared to ones seen in ALIEN. Is this indeed meant to be the same 'Derelict' as we originally saw, or not, I wonder?

The FAN-EDITED Trailer Appreciation Thread!

You might get more interest if you post this in the "fanedits of other films" forum?

Thanks TVF, I did think about putting this in the 'Fanedits of Other Films' section at first, but it states 'Fan edits of films and TV shows other than Star Wars' underneath...so I just stuck it here, as I intend to include 'Star Wars'-related stuff here too, eventually.

...and I guess I could kick those off at this point...

Whose arm?
Time

I'd like to muddy the waters a little more on this one dwsiddall, as I've always looked on Obi-Wan as swiping twice in this scene!

We hear the lightsaber ignite, and immediately after we see the close-up of the blaster being raised by 'Freaky Nose', we see what looks like a short 1st swipe which would account for 'Freaky Nose's right arm being severed...which is followed by a 2nd swipe which I always look on as being directed at 'Walrus Guy' standing next to him. Obi-Wan's taking no chances here. (Have a look at the footage in slow motion or frame-by-frame to get a good look at what I mean) And both characters are seen to collapse to the floor, which convinces me more.

So I'm pleased that adywan has shown 'Freaky Nose's arm beside the blaster in his version, as although I think 'Walrus Guy's right arm/'flipper' was severed too, it doesn't matter...as it's landed offsceen a little from 'Freaky Nose's arm, and is unseen by us.

Nice mock-ups on those grey 'markings' Jaitea (there should be a 3rd one on the top panel too), and matching 'snowlines'. And I'm hoping the backdrop will match a little better between those shots in the final 'Revisited' version also, perhaps.

For now, I'd just like to wish everyone here a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

...and who'd have thought this thread would reach 1000 pages, considering the ANH:R one is only 377 pages currently?

I've come across a few belly laughs along the way (some unintentional)...so here were 2 of my favourites at the time -

Welcome Fettclone1.

Personally, I reckon that Vader looks down on Fett and his cohorts with great disdain due to their way of life, and merely involves them as an additional way to locate Luke and the others a bit quicker. He already singles out Fett with his 'no disintegrations' order (probably due to knowing of his 'reputation')... but wouldn't deem it necessary to address these 'low life scum' on 'name' terms.

There's quite a few examples of mis-'scaling' during the existing movie that will probably end up having to be left as they are during ESB:R too...but this was certainly a nice possible improvement where this AT-AT 'foot' was concerned. Great mock-up Jaitea.

That reminded me that I'm hoping that adywan will add the missing grey 'markings' to Luke's Snowspeeder in the shots below -

They're in place during this shot...

...but are missing in these next 2 shots...

...but then appear in place again here...

...and perhaps the differing 'snowline' seen on the section where the grey 'markings' are, could be made to be consistent between these shots too?

The 2nd shot is from a lower angle, so if the lights were on the wall, they wouldn't be visible in the 2nd shot.

Perhaps your half-correct Harmy. But I reckon we should have seen the uppermost light in the follow-up angle, as it happens to be almost as high as all the yellow lights dotted along the very top of the railing. Let's see what adywan thinks anyway.

I hope everyone here had a good time over the festivities, and that was another great preview shot of the Bespin 'cloud approach' on Christmas day adywan.

When I brought up the 'missing' red colour in various shots of the chasm 'vents' recently, I forgot to include this particular set of prominent ones that are seen outside the 'window' during the duel. I've no idea if it's possible to add the colour to all the shots of these ones during this scene, or not, but it sure would be neat if you could -

Also, here's another very little 'continuity' thing I noticed during the first few 'close-up' shots of the 'Vane' exterior...

You can see from the sequence of shots below that there are 2 lights on the side of the 'Vane', rather than on the railing itself...because we see Luke obscure them when he passes in front of them, and then they appear again once he's gotten past them -

...but these 2 lights aren't on the side of the 'Vane' when we get to this view of it -

...so would it be possible to remove them from the shot where Luke walks past them, so that these shots match?

Thanks for the heads up Loconut. I'll just stick the comparison image here too, for easy reference -

This is another shot that's been given terrific further enhancements now. It has a really epic look to it now. Great stuff.

That's 'Eric' and 'Casey' down there according to Ming, and it's neat to see an example of how the '2nd Unit' shots look. And although we can't make them out here, it's good to know that these guys are wearing adywan's accurate rebel costume detailing...

And at this point I'd just like to wish adywan and everyone else on these forums a very merry Christmas.

Don't think for one moment that every picture or video i post is ever 100% the final version ;)If i did that then there would be nothing left to show in its final release

I'm constantly amazed at how many times you've further amended ESB:R shots that were already looking great. :)

But I notice that the tiny Cloud-Car in the distance is not visible anymore. I'm hoping it's movement outside the window will still be noticeable, now that you've further tweaked the shot you originally showed. This is a terrific enhancement of this particular continuity flub, regardless.

Thanks for these additional previews, and I'm looking forward to the next ones!

Hell's bells adywan, I sure wasn't expecting a whole background replacement! And to think that I'd have been delighted just to see that little bit of 'tubing' added.... Simply stunning work once again, and thanks for giving us the extra preview.

The correct 'tubing' looks great of course, and it's good to see the back of that damned inconsistent 'yellowish' light now too. And no more transparent 'cone' anymore either. Your new background has given this viewpoint a really epic shot in the arm now. Interesting too, how you altered the positioning of it for your revised version.

IF text commentary only if it was edited to stay in real time with the film. The way IF writes, we'd be in the middle of Dagobah and he'd still be talking about the probe droid shots.

That might well have been a probability...except 005 was referring to the same kind of 'multi-screenshot' Visual Comparison that was done for ANH:R on his blog, not an 'onscreen' commentary during the movie itself, lol.

Monroville bringing up the railing 'gaps' reminded me about this final question I wanted to bring up about this sequence adywan - After the sparks have cleared, would this shot look a little more effective if orange 'scorch glows' were also briefly visible on the edges of the railing 'gap' that Vader swung down on here, or not?...

...and I see from your Facebook comments that we're gonna be getting a new 'screenshot' for the next few days until Christmas too! :)
